Yikes. I wasn't thrilled about The Incredibles being shoved into an iconic resort (are those characters really that popular?), but I really don't like the final result. How does this even begin to look like a deluxe room? Looks like a mix of Pop Century and Art of Animation.

This was my thought too. The room itself and the bathroom looks nice, but all the Incredibles touches make it look like something at one of the values. I can't believe they did this to the entire resort.

This is significantly worse than the Moana rooms at the Polynesian -- I'm not a huge fan of those because I think the "feature wall" is too in your face, but it's nowhere near as bad as those curtains, the Incredibles pillows, and some of the other touches. They just do not look like something that belongs at a deluxe.

Definitely not my cup of tea. Looks like something from the value resorts in my opinion, I think due to the overwhelmingly white and gray scheme. To me, nothing about it is cohesive. Is the room supposed to be modern? Minimalist? Retro? Mid-century modern? I feel there's elements of all of those scattered about. Then you add ton top all the character touches and it's just is a mish-mash of stuff that doesn't come together.

Side note - they better put RFID trackers or something in those character pillows because I'm sure guests will be walking out with them. I give it 6 months before they're swapped out for a generic pattern, or just disappear entirely.

Everything minus the Incredibles touches is a BIG win. But the IP stuff is really tacky. I’m conflicted because on one hand there is a structural improvement. But on the other the slapping on of character nonsense really detracts from the positives.
Could not agree more. The curves around the windows look great along with the bathroom and bed frames. The incredible additions in all of the picture frames, closet, pillows, carpet, drapes, etc are just way too much.

I still don't understand why they have to change all of the rooms, just remodel one floor and make the rooms an upcharge like the pirate rooms at Caribbean Beach.

This "enhancement" is making the contemporary into the Incredibles resort just like the Poly is slowly turning into the Moana resort. If they want to add some SMALL nods to the movie, fine but this is plastered everywhere. This is making the cheaper resorts more enjoyable now, if only Disney had that foresight...

I don't understand Disney's obsession with cramming IP everywhere possible. How does this make them money? Is there really a market for people that wouldn't stay at the Contemp at deluxe prices but now would because Fro-zone pillow?

I think the issue is that they put too much stake into their surveys. I think that the people most likely to answer are the "cult of Disney" people who go a little too overboard in their IP obsession. I don't think that Disney really understands why people originally came to the parks. People came for the atmosphere, quality and unique content that they couldn't get anywhere else. Now, we have increasingly worse experiences but with IP slapped onto them.

This one is a mixed bag for me. I love the aesthetic, I hate the way the characters are so in-your-face. The curtains in particular are horrible.

You know The Incredibles is set in the 1960s, right? I'm not saying you have to like the refurb, but this complaint is just factually incorrect.

Do.... do a lot of people think The Incredibles is set in the present or future?
60's, 80's Meh! The room rates need to be adjusted to match what has been done stop charging Deluxe and being realistic by charging Value resort rates. What has been created is a cartoon value resort w a monorail station running through it.

At least this is unique -- to be honest (other than the concourse level) the vast majority of the interior of the Contemporary just has that generic business/conference/hotel-by-the airport feel to it. I understand the decision to lean Disney. Sure there might have been other ways to do it.

Unique, Yes! As for leaning Disney, well, Chef Mickey's is already the established dinning location there why was the theme not followed and plaster Mickey everywhere (professionally and artfully of course) that would be going Disney. This project just produced a freshly reminted cartoon I.P. value monorail station sort of resort.

As others have already mentioned, this looks pretty damn close to the new refurbished rooms at the Values. Not much of a difference imo. When I first saw the announcement on Insta, I honestly thought they were re-theming one of the sections at All-Star Movies to the Incredibles.
I have to say that I kind of dig it, but you're right that overall it does look more value resort than deluxe. I feel like the Poly Moana rooms still feel deluxe, but these seem sparse. I wonder if they're better in person

We need time for things to happen.
Hmm...I don't know how I feel about this, but I will try to work it out:

  • I knew it was coming. - There is nothing I can do about it.
  • I did like the previous theming - but it's not the sort of theming that I am going to long to see again. Especially those splashy a$$ sinks. 😂
  • I don't know if I can afford staying at the Contemporary anytime soon - But If I can and the rooms still look like this at the time, I will most likely be too hyped that I am in WDW and walking distance from MK to care one way or the other.
  • It's not the worst thing that could have happened to the Contemporary and the splashy a$$ sinks are gone.........therefore.......

.....I approve. ;)

Well get used to it, because the mediocre IP rooms will be there for years after anyone still cares for it.
