Contemporary Questions - Help!

Hello All -

So I am looking into booking a stay at the Contemporary for the first time this May. Some questions:

(1) If I were to stay in the "Garden Wing" is this a drastically different experience than staying in the Tower? Everytime I pass the resort via monorail on the way to MK that wing seems less ... magical.

But all of the rooms were renovated recently, correct? And I figured I would request a view of Bay Lake which would be nice. Basically I guess I am asking is the Garden Wing a lesser Contemporary experience?

(2) How is the dining options? I know they have undergone a variety of renovations in this subject as well. How about the pools?

Anyone who can comment (particularly anyone who has stayed since the room renovations), your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Depending on when you are going, I know that the CR pool is being or will be renovated soon. It is our least favorite pool of all the resorts we've stayed at. We've done the Tower and the Garden. We were upgraded to Tower the first year we stayed there with a view of the castle. While very nice for the kids, it it not something I would pay for. We've stayed in Garden Wing. The only difference is "you are not in the tower" as far as we were concerned.

The inside of the garden wing rooms are identical to the inside of the tower rooms. They were all recently refurbed. If you stay in the wing, there are 2 views: standard (the cheapest) and garden. Standard view will be of the parking lot. Garden view will be of either Bay Lake, the pool, or the gardens. IMO, book a garden wing, garden view room. That way you assure yourself of a decent view without the cost of the tower. We ate at Chef Mickey's a couple of weeks ago. The new quick service restaurant, Contempo Cafe, looks to be a huge upgrade from the crappy Tempo Grab n' Go, which was there when we stayed at CR last May. It was bigger and had a better selection of food. To answer your question about the wing being "less magical", I would say it only would be if you booked a standard view room and had a room directly in front of the parking lot. We were just at the WL for 9 nights, and used the boat transportation to/from MK. We passed right by the CR garden wing, and some room are most definitely right in front of the parking lot. Yuck.

Thanks! It's a seperate building (referring to the Garden), but it is enclosed, correct? (i.e. you do not open your hotel door and are outside like a moderate)?

Yep. You're right. The garden wing is an enclosed building and the room doors open into an inside corridor. The laundry room is in the garden wing so I'd say that's a plus for that building. Hauling our laundry down there was kinda a pain.

We stayed in a tower MK view room last December and loved it. We're going back again for another spin in less than 3 weeks. :sohappy:

Yes, the pool is due to be under refurb from like the 2nd week of January thru I think the end of February or early March. I can't remember off the top of my head. I should run over to Disboards and find that info again. WHile the pool is closed for the refurb we will be able to use the Poly's pool. Yaaayyy!

Correct, the garden wing rooms are enclosed. You will have to walk outside to get to the tower building, though.
