Contemporary at an Unbelieveable RATE!!

I just wanted to let everyone know the great news??:sohappy:

My husband is in the military and we were on the waiting list for Shades of Green (SOG) for 04/20 - 05/01; so while we were on the waiting list I booked POR w/ King bed and taxes for a total of $100 a night (give or take). Well, I just got the call back from SOG and our name came up. Then came the really great news!

SOG is being remodeled so we are going to be staying at the Contemporary instead! Can you believe it???? I just figured out that with tax we are paying $73 a night for the Contemporary from 04/20 - 05/01 which means I am saving a total of $352!! :hammer:

I just can't get over this! I am wondering though if the Contemporary has a food court and also if they have the refillable mugs? :veryconfu I was told that we would be in the North Garden Wing rooms (unless Disney placed us somewhere else do to accomodation problems when we checked in) - but hey - I'm staying at the Contemporary!! Also, with the money I am saving I just booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour and made to PS for a couple of the nicers restaurants to celebrate my hubby's 30th birthday!

I just had to share this news with someone since I can't tell my husband, because the trip is a surprise for his birthday!:sohappy:

My recollection from the last time I stayed there....many years ago...was a snack bar on the first floor...similar to the one at the Poly. I don't know if they have refillable mugs,though!

Last time I was there they had the refillable mugs. Congrats on getting the Contempary with that rate. I am really jealous.....j/k. Have a wonderful trip.

What a deal! You'll have a great time. We've never stayed at the Contemporary, but we've eaten there and walked through it. Nice full-service restaurants, but I don't ever remember seeing a food court. There are snack foods for sale in the Concourse gift shop, but I think that's it. Still, you're at the Contemporary!

Yes they do have a snack bar, it's not the best in WDW, but it's fine, it's next to the arcade.

And yes, they do have refillable mugs, I do recommend purchasing them!

The Contemporary has a food court...The Food and Fun Center. They also have a HUGE Video arcade, a snack bar by the Pool area...The Sand Bar (Try the nachos..they are soooo good)

California Grill..is good...but high end price wise.

Concourse Steakhouse has a GREAT breakfast...ya gotta have the Micky Stickys. Also a great place for dinner.

Chef Mickeys is an all you can eat buffet...and has the best Character meals on property.

Have a cocktail at the Outer Rim...on the 4th floor concourse..it overlooks Bay Lake...great view.

They also have Boating, a health club,a salon, a baby sitting service, parasailing, and 2 swimming pools..one with a slide.

A playground for kids

Several stores are located on the 4th Floor concourse for shopping including a sundries shop where you can buy Milk, snacks, soda pop and personal items.

I would definitely purchase a Resort MUG...they save you and your family tons of money. I used mine in the morning for free coffee and in the afternoon after a day in the warm Florida sun I would have free cokes.

Enjoy your stay...I will be at The Contemporary in 50 days myself..can't wait !!:sohappy:

yes its called fiesta fun center, and they have/had really good nacho cheese dip, incidentatlly i just made it tonight, its in cooking with mckey volume 2 and is aptly titled nacho cheese dip. Can anyone confirm if it is still on the menu because cooking with mickey is nearing a decade old, also does anyone have the first vloume of cooking with mickey i can't find it anywhere, thank you

What a bargin, you'll have a wonderful time, the contemp. is a great place to stay, the garden rooms are huge and you get a wonderful veiw of the Electic Water Pagent every night. I would recommend taking a boat out on the lake after you've filled up your refillable mugs at the fast food place of course!

Can you believe, I am still able to keep it a secret from my hubby??? I've even gone as far as getting all reservation conformation's faxed to me instead of them be sent to the house!

I even have his CO in on the trip so he can have the time off. Right now, my husband thinks we are spending 3 days in Atlanta at Six Flags:lol:
Boy, won't he be surprised when I continue to drive past Six Flags and head towards Disney!
