for a while now there has been a noticeable clearing going in by the pop century resort (aka the intersection of victory way and the ocesola parkway) it looks now like its wide enough for a road and it also looks like its widened in one spot for a toll booth. Is this a new entrance to the MGM parking lot????

I believe this is for feed lines or some sort of utilities for the new Bonnet Creek resort. i only saw construction by the road. i looked all around the MGM parking lot and didn’t see any signs of construction for a new exit. As for the construction in the MGM parking lot, they are just resurfacing the non-WDW bus parking.

This is a very interesting article about the Bonnet Creek Resort. It will actually not be a resort, but a complex with other hotels. So far the only buyer is a Fairfield Inn. So this means that discount hotels like Fairfield Inn's will be sitting right in the middle of Disney propoerty. Anyone else a little upset about this?

YES IM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS!!!! Walt didn't build Walt Disney World so we could stay at Holiday Inns. This is an outrage and everyone should feel exactly the same way:mad:

You guys are mistaken. It says that the only buyer so far is Fairfield Resorts. This is a timeshare resort that only time share owners stay at. It is not related to the Fairfield Inn chain. Trust me, I have stayed at a Fairfield timeshare resort before. They are usually very upscale and nice.
I even went on a Fairfield Timeshare tour last year and they were trying to get me to buy a time share at Bonnet Creek.

this is precisely why walt built disneyWORLD--- after building disneyLAND had becoming swarmed with cheap tacky hotels/motels/businesses, he knew it was too late to save disneyland from all that commercialism.. so then he came to florida to build disneyworld.. a place where he'd be able to keep ALL of that OUT.

now.. whoever's in charge is deciding to go against everything and anything that was walt and what his beliefs were.

this is disgusting -if true.. and as if it wasnt bad enough creating the downtown disney resort area [the non-disney resorts].. if this means there's another similar thing on the way.. dont get me started...

ugh.. it's so sad to see everything at wdw fall into this downward spiral... if only eisner would leave soon, and some one, anyone, with the true vision, who truly 'keeps walt in mind' would replace him!!! :brick:  :brick:

As much as I hate Eisner......this one wasn't his fault. Ever since Walt Disney started buying up the land for Disney World, there has been that one plot of land they could never get a hold of. No matter what the man wouldn't sell to Disney....some how the Bonnett Creek Resort got a hold of it so it's finally being developed

Disney does not, nor ever has, controlled this land. At least one other person or group must have recognized the future potential of the area especially after Walt started buying things up.

Its also not in the middle of Disney but on the extreeme Southeastern Edge. Maybe a little more forethought should have been give to CBR and Pop's location knowing that Disney did not control the land immediately adjacent to them.

if this is the case, it's not as serious as it was first made to seem.. i can deal with it if it's at the extreme edge of the property.. i just dont want to be able to see large cookie-cutter style hotels from the different recreation areas throughout the property.

*also.. im not saying all bad things are directly tied to eisner.. however, i think his time is up, and we need someone even more dedicated to the right things than eisner has ever been. -and yes.. that calls for one extrordinary individual.

While I have seen no official information, it is currently rumored to be a new entrance to the MGM parking lot and possibly an exit also. There has been much discussion in recent years of reconfiguring the lot due to congestion problems. In particular, the entrance off of World Drive is often missed due to the interchange of roadways right there. It is also impossible for on property guests to access by car due to location thus the reason for the auxilliary entrance which is used a lot.

Also having the only exit to the parking lot dump out on to Buena Vista Drive is troublesome. Most guest continue on to EPCOT drive to get back on I-4. When Studios and EPCOT close at nearly the same time it creates quite a mess.

My mistake about the property. I am still upset about the situation though. Even if they are going to be nice properties I don't think they should be on Disney property.

I don't think that you are understanding what we are saying here...listen carefully...

"It's NOT Disney Property, which is why someone else is putting a hotel there, and not Disney."

As far as I'm concerned, he/she can put whatever they want to there. It's their land, and just because it's near Disney owned land, doesn't mean that he/she has to do something "Disney" with it. Hell, I'd put a big bar there. Talk about CASH FLOW...Easy money....
