Construction...how bad is it?

I've heard/read a lot about how horrible the construction is right now and how there are walls everywhere. Is it an exaggeration? I know that there are a number of projects going on right now. We're leaving for our vacation in 43 days and I'm definitely not gonna' let some barriers and cranes ruin my trip. I just want to know so I can be prepared. Is it really that bad?

There are some walls around the castle in the MK, but I didn't really think about them. The only construction I have an issue with is the tearing up of all the parking lots and roads around Downtown Disney. I spent more time trying to get in and out of the garage and renting and returning two wheel chairs than I spent shopping. If you're planning on going to DTD allow lots of extra time.

.. and AK has a lot of walls right now.

We just spent three days there last week. My experience:

Downtown Disney:
Traffic in and around is a huge nightmare due to work being done. Take a bus if possible and time your pickup right, or get there really early. Walking through DD, Passing by Paradiso on the way to the market, you can audibly hear circular saws buzzing constantly. Barriers are placed awkwardly cutting off the west side from the market directly (you're forced to cross to rainforest cafe). It is a bit of a maze to get around.

Magic Kingdom:
Of course there's the barriers with the fake printed trees around the castle. There's also some covering up happening on main street.

Epcot:
Didn't notice anything, only did future world.

Animal Kingdom:
Barriers are up between Dinoland and Everest. Only did those two areas.

Hollywood Studios:
I really didn't notice anything other than closures. ToT, RnR, ST, MV3D. Of course there's that dead space near the back lot.

Overall DD seems to be the worst imo right now. It's not that bad, HS is fine if you just do fastpasses

DTD or now "Disney Springs" has a lot of construction that will continue for a long time. That being said, the worse thing is just getting there. It is a maze of orange cones and concrete barricades to maneuver in order to park. If you have the option use Disney buses. The driver is getting paid to put up with the mess. Once you are there it is not terrible to walk around. I had not been there for more than a year but I had an early business meeting there last week before any shops were open and got out of there early. I would not want to be near there in the evening and at no time on the weekend until the construction is over. When it is finished I will give it a try.

I was there this past December, the only issue I had was all the construction at the Polynesian (why in the name of all that is good did they decide to ruin the main lobby there?) between the lobby and the actual grounds. Other than that there was construction in MK but it wasn't at all distracting. Though, the empty buildings in Hollywood Studios and EPCOT continues to be annoying, but it seems plans are well underway for Hollywood Studios, so I will be good with construction when it means Star Wars and Toy Story Lands coming.

Here are a couple of photos from today. I wasn't trying to get shots of construction but it's pretty hard to shoot around. There are scrims around 3 of the 4 new turrets. There are green walls around the moats on both sides of the castle and closest walkways. The walkway on the left has a huge piece of scaffolding with scrims, you actually have to walk through it if you take that path. The entire walkway and bridge leading into the castle is completely covered with scaffolding and a gray scrim. The moat is also drained a little and water looks very murky.

Disney Springs has quite a few construction walls now. This video shows recent progress there that might help prepare you for what you're going to see. There's still quite a bit to see and do there though.

I find it funny that people complain about construction

Not really complaining here or worried about photos or anything...just curious as to what I can expect in terms of any bottlenecks, etc. I guess it does help that I'm going at a slow-ish time of the year. I haven't been to WDW in 5 years, so there's all this new stuff that happened/is happening.
