Construction Behind AK Rainforest Cafe?

When I was at Animal Kingdom last week, I was told by a cast member that they were going to be building something behind the Rainforest cafe. He wasn't sure what it was going to be, just that they might be breaking ground soon. Anyone have any idea what it might be?

Wasn't that the general area that Beastly Kingdom was supposed to occupy?

Yeah, that is where Beastly was supose to go. On a side note that is also a parking lot that certain cast members get to use if they have a parking permit to go behind the "berm." I know when I was a cast member I loved parking back there it was so convient. Although I would gladly sacrifice it for Beastly.

Wouldn't it be great if Beastly Kingdom did make it into existance? Course, the main E-ride attraction no longer seems to belong to Disney... ::Mutters under breath:: Dang you Universal, Dueling Dragons was OURS!

Disney can do much much better than a themed line, and an unthemed B&M coaster. :)
I am sure Beastly Kingdom will be a significantly better themed experience than Dueling Dragons.

Personally I have never beleived the rumor that Duelling Dragons was "taken" from Disney. Maybe the general idea of "Dragons" has some similarity to Disneys plans for BK, but I cannot see Disney working with B&M, as Vekoma or Intamin are Disney's prefered coaster manufacturers. Universal also had the order in for Hulk and DD years in advance of when it was installed.

Besides, in my opinion DD is just a nice looping coater that any park could buy given the money. Disney are capable of building attractions that other parks cannot produce, reagrdless of money. :)

perfect examples: Mission: SPACE and whatever we will get for Beastlie! One thing I don't get is...I would imagine Beastlie was ALWAYS set to get an extremely expensive thrill ride--it had to have been for Imagineers to insist on building it for so long and for the execs to still be looking into building it too. I don't honestly see what you could do w/ Dueling Dragons to make it cost as much as disney has budgetted for Reign of Fire...I don't see disney working with B&M either...for one, B&M is kinda snobby (granted their coasters are great...) and they don't like to give much room for discussion in terms of track layout whereas Vekoma has built many disney coasters and I think would be more willing to let disney "tell" them what to build.

dISNEY WOULD NEVER BUILD CHEESEY POORLY THEMED COASTERS LIKE IofA, WHY JUST LOOK AT THE NEW "FLYING CARPETS" OR PREHISTORIC TWIST THING. BOTH ARE COMPLETELY ORIGINAL RIDES AND UNLIKE ANYTHING ANYONE HAS BUILT BEFORE!

sorry for the sarcasm, sometimes i get synical

DinoRama and Magic Carpets are minor rides in exisiting lands. You cant compare a major new land eride to those 2 attractions. You can however compare DD at Universal to Reign of Fire - as these are both signature attractions for their respective lands.

Anyone else seen the pics of the "Reign of Fire" sets at Disney Studios Paris? They look AMAZING....Like an entire city, post-Dragon-attack, with concrete everywhere, and a subway train coming out a building. It looks extremely immpressive, but if thats the type of theming that a Reign of Fire ride, or Beastlie Kingdomme would have, i dont think it would fit in at all with Animal Kingdom. I still think Beastlie Kingdomme should be a mix of Lost Continent at IoA, and the overall feel of DisneySeas.......

hate to say it but the word "soon" in cast member language translates to years so I seriously doubt that groundbreaking on BK is going to happen anytime soon.

Ok

Beastly Kingdom WILL be built!!!!

I know for a fact that Disney Co. will build it, when is the question we must ask ourselves. Along with that if that land gets something other than BK on it don't rule it out as something that will be built ;)

We are all confident it will happen, but like you said when is the question. It was supposed to be there on Opening Day.

well...disney HAS to start building SOMETHING there soon. DinoRama will only keep people amused for MAYBE a year...before they want something new. That means disney has to start building within a year to keep attendance from continuing to drop there. There are, of course, rumors of Asia getting something...but I hope they start Beastlie first...it is the next logical step for the park and disney has left every hint that it is still "go". They recently put up a sign at the entrance w/ the bus stops listed on the front and that old Animal Kingdom logo on the back...w/ the big dragon in the middle...granted it's been on the logo since park opening, the fact that they are still constructing signs w/ the dragon, to me, means disney still has every intent on building the land. I say "next" because it's been rumored for sooooooo long...it would be ridiculous to have an area that was originally set to be in a park continually refered to in the park itself...and wait ten years to build it. So...my prediction: construction starts in the next year. The area is already clear and research is basically complete (there will, of course, be changes...but the ideas are already planned out) so they could immediately start construction and have the land open by like...late 2004-early 2005...if they hurry up!

we can assume multiple attractions, but all we know for sure is Reign of Fire, a dragon-themed, $120-million, possibly roller coaster-type thrill ride with an Audio-Animatronic dragon, disney's largest AA ever built--basically, it will be Animal Kingdom's premier attraction, and it has been green-lighted and assigned a budget (yeah...that $120-million thing:) ) What else? There are so many possibilities with a mystical animal theme...they wouldn't build two E-rides here (I don't THINK), but Matterhorn would fit...last I checked, the Abominable Snowman didn't exist! That wouldn't fit the castle-theme though...they could have done SO MUCH with the old idea of Fire and Ice...coulda had the Dueling Dragons attraction in the middle, Matterhorn on the ice side, and Fire Mountain on the fire side...given the money...and a buncha smaller attractions in the castle itself...but, I'll be happy with Reign of Fire!:D
