Hi I have heard there’s lots of construction going on in MK. Has anyone found this to be a problem? Also does it detract from all the wonderful surroundings? Thanks :)

Due to the nostalgia of the park, and the fact that it has more attractions than the other parks, naturally Magic Kingdom is going to have the most upkeep. Refurbishments are common during non-peak seasons. However, over the last year, Magic Kingdom have been kicking refurbishments into overdrive due to the huge expansion project. TDO wants the park in tip-top shape for the unveiling of the Fantasyland Expansion in 2012 (aside from the Toontown portion slated for 2013). This project is so big, that Disney is opening the Art of Animation Resort at the same time to help absorb some of the huge increases in guests that are expected.

At this point, there are only 3 things that are certain in the Fantasyland expansion. 1) Beauty and the Beast Area - Which includes the Belle Meet-N-Greet, Beast's Castle, Gaston's Tavern (quick service restaurant) and Be Our Guest (flex dining restaurant). 2) Ariel's Adventure - Which is essentially a dark ride themed to the Little Mermaid, Ariel Meet-N-Greet. 3) Dumbo's Circus - 2 Dumbo spinner rides, elaborately themed interactive queue inside of a circus tent, re-theming of Goofy's Barnstormer. Those are the only attractions that are confirmed by the company. However, there is a strong rumor that some sort of Snow White/Seven Dwarf Mine Themed Coaster/Dark Ride may be built to occupy the area that would have once had the Cinderella and Aurora Chateaus/Meet-N-Greets. The rest of Toontown Fair, which was supposed to turn into Pixie Hollow, is still unknown at this point. This area was the last area to be finished in the expansion, so we may not hear any definitive answers from the company for a while. As far as the actual construction itself goes, Ariel's Adventure is well underway. All of the foundations and ground utilities are in place and vertical construction is taking shape. The Beauty and the Beast area was cleared shortly after work on Ariel began, and it appears that ground utility work is coming to an end (this area was a little more difficult because it is right next to the cast entrance to the utilidoors). Foundations for the restaurant/castle should began very soon. Dumbo still remains in place, and won't be moved for awhile. If u ride Dumbo, you can actually get a great view of the expansion project over the construction walls and literally watch the progress as it unfolds!
