congrats! and thanks for the info. like i said above i was so concerned that i would lose the disney experience as far as reservations go. is booking dining plans and all that a hassle as a dvc owner? i plan on doing DDP, 4 day tickets, ME, etc.
As far as the DDP, we just call the DVC member number and ask to purchase it. Simple really.

I think I would like the 1 bedroom layouts. Definitely plenty of space. If you are looking at OKW I think that is one of the easier places to get ressies for from everything I have read about renting points and selecting the resort you want. From Sunday til Friday I saved $ 500 over staying at a regular BWI room during that same time period at Thanksgiving. And the free laundry use was great...We were on property a total of 12 days and lots dirty clothes.....probably saved another $ 50 bucks on the laundry.

Did this two trips ago....housekeeping is a con...
I did it before MM+ so I don't know how that is affected...probably negatively
other than that it was fine, I bought points from family friend so no issues there
by the way...a "studio" is a hotel room, not a large one either

A studio at OKW is more of a hotel room. The others have one bed and one pull out sofa bed. The studios also come with a mini fridge, microwave, and a coffee pot. I've had blenders brought up to the room when needed. I'll take a studio over a standard room in most places any day.

Thanks to the OP for posting this question. We are looking at pulling the trigger on this as well. I think the only thing holding me back is/was the worry over FP+ and making those reservations 60 days in advance. So many choices.

We just rented a AKL Kidani Studio for 5 nights through David's DVC Rentals and everything worked amazingly well.

You can save a lot of money, and essentially stay in a deluxe resort for moderate resort money. IIRC we paid a total of $160 per night to stay at Kidani. Amazing value for us. I know going directly through an owner is even cheaper, but I appreciated the piece of mind of going through a reputable site with contracts, etc.

Everything went very smoothly- our reservation was in our name immediately, and we were able to get magic bands, Disney Experience, Magical Express, the whole nine yards.

I was a bit worried about getting tickets separately and linking them to the magic bands, but Disney makes it very simple- you just input a number from your ticket (wherever you decide to buy it from), and it is all set.

The major downside as others have said is you are locked in- so make sure your dates work! Also, if you want the really popular DVC resorts you will probably need to book 10-11 months in advance which can be difficult. We booked AKL 6 months in advance.

I would highly recommend it and we plan on using David's next time. Just have to decide what resort to put in for..
