Seems that, if you turn artisans loose, you'll see some good work. I fully expect the terrazzo floor to look great. Will always be better than the synthetic wood ceramic tiles that's used just about everywhere now. But, don't fool yourself; just as we did back when I was a kid, we covered up said terrazo to lay parquet on top of it. Tomorrow's "Zach" will see this as "kitsch" and perform their "magic" on top of it. It's the circle of life!

I like the terrazzo...Not only is it a fun design medium, but it is infinitely easier to clean and polish and is virtually indestructible for guest wear.
We bought a house 5 years ago and stripped up all the parquet floors to reveal the beautiful white terrazzo underneath. but we love the mid-mod aesthetic....

I mean... "We put some Epcot designs in the floor to commemorate Epcot" is about the same amount of effort it takes to put a Mickey Mouse head on the floor. (Except they don't DO the latter anymore because they need IP!)

And now the site that shant be named is claiming rumor says they're going to completely redo the Grand Floridian clubhouse to "modernize" it.

Maybe as much work ordering it done. However, terrazzo is very much an artform. It's really fun to watch artisans laying and grinding a floor to a mirror finish after they've properly mixed the colors needed. Also, the frames created are impressive too. Not sure if these were done on-site or in a shop. But, there's plenty of artistry on display with them.

It NEEDS to be a bland and basic menu. Epcot has so many damn restaurants, we need a burger joint at the front of the park.

Also... 8 dollars for chicken nuggets. Holy cow. And I'm sure they're higher now.

Is it weird that my only qualm about this has been the lack of a menu reveal? Lately Disney has been knocking out of the park with QS menus, which are normally heavily advertised. Makes me wonder why a restaurant opening in under a month wouldn’t be the same way with its build up.

He actually has more input than you think. Bob Iger made some of the final detail decisions on Shanghai. These guys know that some of these things will reflect on their legacy oven if it’s a small detail like this or the front entrance to the park. Did he come up with the idea? Likely not but I bet he had some say in it. I heard he did help choose the music for Harmonious. That being said, it is a slap in the face to purists. This park is going to end up being an Islands of Adventure clone with decorations from Epcot Center.

He definitely has less input then you think. Chances are he doesn’t even know this “cafe” exists, much less had any desire to give design input. He just doesn’t care enough to do that. He and Bob Sr. do like to stick their nose in big flashy things sometimes (like apparently the name IncrediCoaster was Chapek’s choice), but not the floor of a restaurant.

I have a old reciept from a trip I took in 2005..Burger combo with drink at Electric Umbrella was $12.89..It's almost $15 now..

Well if that's the case, I'll have to check it out. Given how far along it seems, that doesn't seem unreasonable, but this is Disney so who knows.

I can see Sunshine Seasons patronage dropping when this opens.

The Land Crusher sandwich alone did that when it was added to the menu....


Not to say I didn't love it.

I have a old reciept from a trip I took in 2005..Burger combo with drink at Electric Umbrella was $12.89..It's almost $15 now..

I haven’t seen a burger for less than $16 when a drink is included.
