Confused about the DDE card

If you are on the dining plan and order something extra or drinks that aren't covered on the plan, you will get 20% off of those extras and get charged an 18% tip on those extras????
Kind of confused how it applies when you are on the plan.
We will be in DW in Nov and March, in Nov we are on the Deluxe Plan, in March we may or may not, so I figured we might as well use it for both trips???
Please advise
Thanks

Good question! I think your assumption may be right, but I have never done, or heard of it being doine myself. Hopefully someone can asnwer for you, or failing that, give it a go and see what happens. Let us know how it goes.

I'll most likely purchase the card but I want to make sure how it coincides with the Dining Plan-tipping on it, etc.....

I tried once to use the DDE card for stuff we ordered that wasn't included in DDP. The cards came back with the DDP credits charged but they just wrote off charging for the extras! I think the server wasn't sure how to do it and rather than mess it up he just gave me the extras for free.

IIRC (and am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) the items not covered on the DDP are processed like on a separate bill, to give the discount, then add the tip. So I think you will get 2 bills (or two sections of one bill): one DDP with credits, on which you owe a tip; and a second for DDE/TiW that has taken 20% off of apps, wine, etc. with 18% probably added back on if that makes sense. The savings can still add up nicely, with parking, alcohol discounts. FWIW.
