Well whenever I go to the Disney website it always says casual dining! The service that they give you at the steakhouse is amazing the food is amazing and the prices are high how could it be casual dining? And in like books in hotels where it shows the best resturants its not even in there, but the Califonia grill is in those books I just cant belive it!

Agreed - the afternoon prices are entirely palettable. The place needs some TLC physically (even the tabletops are noticeably worn) but the service is always great and the food is wonderful.

so you guys agree its underrated and should get a better rating right?

While I will agree that it is underated, I DON'T want it to get a better rating.
Better ratings= Higher prices, bigger crowds and longer waits.

I much prefer to keep the Concourse Steakhouse as MY little hole in the wall, secret place to have a great meal...any meal...(they have great a breakfast too ) and espcially a great place to have a Steak dinner.

As of our last 10 trips, we have had at least 1 great steak dinner on every trip and have never made a reservation in advance. We just walk up early in the evening and always get in. However, if you want to be sure to eat there I would recommend you make a reservation...we have just been lucky.

Unfortunately, I found out about sticky Mickeys AFTER my last trip.

They sound divine.

Anyone have first hand experience with breakfast at the Concourse?

From a previous thread:

A "Sticky Mickey" is a little piece of heaven served for breakfast at The Concourse Steakhouse.

Imagine a 6 inch deep baking pan that's also round and about 6 inches across.

Then take a cinnamon sugar dough, shaped so that when baked, it puffs over the top of the pan into 3 circles, making an "artist's representation" of a Mickey head.

This is then drizzled with white icing, and served piping hot with a small pitcher of cinnamin/brown sugar/maple/butter sauce to pour over the top.

My wife and I discovered this little gem towards the end of our honeymoon last July, and had it every day until we had to leave for home.

You cannot eat one of these on your own, unless it's all that you are having OR you are REALLY hungry.

If you get a chance, try one, you will not be disappointed.

We usually have our last dinner of our vacation at the Concourse Steakhouse, its one of our favorite places. We had breakfast there once, a long time ago and it wasn't too bad.

As for Sticky Mickeys, they are very easy to make, though I think the WDW atmosphere adds quite a bit to the taste. :animwink:

Sticky Mickeys
from Contemporary Resort

Yield: 1 1/2 dozen

1 cup water (warm)
4 teaspoon yeast
4 eggs
1 stick butter
5 cups bread flour
3/4 cup cake flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons milk powder
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1 stick butter, melted
1 cup cinnamon sugar
Sugar Icing (see note)
Caramel sauce for serving (see note)

Heat oven to 380 F. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Let bloom for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients except last butter and cinnamon sugar, and mix at low speed with electric mixer until smooth and elastic, about 10-12 minutes.

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk. Punch dough down, and cut into 56 (1-ounce) pieces using a scale. Roll dough into small balls.

Take three balls, hold together, dunk in melted butter, and press into cinnamon sugar. Place in large muffin pan, sugar side down. Let proof in warm area, until dough is doubled in size again. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown. Take out of muffin pan while still warm. Cool, and cover with icing.

To serve, place a Sticky Mickey on a plate. Slit down into the Mickey. Pour caramel sauce into slit.

How to make sugar icing:
Mix 1 cup powdered sugar with 1 to 2 tablespoons water until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth and runs in a ribbon when poured from a spoon.

How to make caramel sauce:
Melt 1/2 stick butter in pan on medium heat. Stir in 3/4 cup brown sugar; mix well. Add 3/4 teaspoon vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and continuously stir for 5 minutes. Stir with a whip and slowly add 1 cup heavy whipping cream. Once cream is added, continue to cook for 5 minutes. Keep warm.

Cool. A recipe to try this weekend!

IMHO, the Concourse Steakhouse has the best burgers in WDW. It's a great choice for a nice lunch outside the Magic Kingdom.
