Concerned about the weather

Due to a few reasons, for next year's trip (and maybe all others after that while our kids are still in school), we are going to be waiting until late May/Early June instead of April as we always do. I am concerned about the weather at that time of year, as everytime I log onto this site for the past several days, the weather forecast for every single day shows the picture of a thundercloud with rain. Is this to be expected at this time of year? Generally, when we go in April, we have very little trouble with rain. It's mostly nice the entire time (11 days or so). We may have a little rain here and there, but not much to worry about. I'm concerned that we may end up going at a time when there is heavy rain everyday, which could put a damper on the trip. For anyone who is there right now, how has the weather been so far this week?

I am currently in Orlando area for the summer as well as went to Disneyworld in May several times. I would not worry about the scary weather icons on the homepage. Beginning in late May through early fall - Orlando has a mid day rain (usually between 330 and 6pm) that will bring torrential rain. But during the other times of the day it will be warm/humid or hot/humid with sun (maybe clouds). The beauty of the rain it cools down the parks. I would get some cheap ponchos from walmart. I am headed down to Disney this weekend myself. Have a great time.

We have gone in mid-June the last several trips and I am noticing more and more long rains each trip. The frequency of long afternoon rains has increased as well. For us, it always seems to be on the AK day that we get that prolonged rain too, which washes out my favorite parade. I know the afternoon shower is expected, but these are torrential down pours that wash everything out.

The good news is they wash the crowds out as well. If I stats raining, many head for cover, shortening ride wait times. If it rains longer than 30 min some people start to leave the park. If it rains for an hour straight you see nuances of the park you don't normally get to enjoy because of the mass exodus. Bring a ponco and embrace the suck. You are on vacation. A bad, wet day at Disney is better than a good day at home. We travel late May/ early-mid June to Florida regularly.

We were there June last year and I am afraid to say that we got caught in the tail end of a hurricane for the last week which did put a major dampner on the holiday. My son came home afraid of any rain :). However like everyone has said people leave the parks and you are able to get on the rides!! Every cloud and all that!

I have been to the World 15+ time over the summer months (June/July/August) and one thing is certain, you will get to see a little rain. Afternoon storms are common, but they move in fast and typically do not last long. We have had a few exceptions (and plenty of great stories to share another time), but the only advice that I can give is choose your style and stick with it. Meaning, either decide to not let the rain impact your time (always carry rain gear and keep going) or wait out the rain in a safe, dry place. You definitely do not want to get caught in a summer storm; it rains buckets in seconds.

BTW, you will experience some of the best people-watching moments when it is raining.

Nature is unpredictable, hence judging weather conditions for your trip is impossible. Generally, afternoon showers can be expected in June. Generally, they can leave within 15 minutes, and last as long as 90-120 minutes. Also, take into consideration that the Central Florida forecasts can sometimes cover an enormous area, and the rain chances mentioned on some sites may not be quite as accurate concerning the WDW area itself.

Easiest gig in Orlando..Weatherman: from April to October "Tomorrows forcast Hot, Humid with a chance of afternoon thundershowers"
I agree, this is usually the norm and if you plan a little, a show lasts a little longer than the rain. You may be inside and never see the quick shower. Never worry, it magically works out when your there. Great time to go
