Concern for 'Cars'

I was watching a special on The Incredibles today and I saw the sneak preview of Cars. I felt rather dissapointed for the following reasons:

1. The characters looked like 'Bob the Builder extras (for you yanks, look at the yellow vehicle http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/im...hots/cbbc_cbeebies_daytime/250bob_builder.jpg)

2. Very familiar territory was being tread (mismatched characters, road movie e.t.c.)

3. There wasn't an obvious gag as in the previous films (monsters inc-wrong room, Finding Nemo-Dory scaring 'skittish' fish, Incredibles_Bob is too fat to put belt on.

Well, I can see where you're coming from but I doubt this trailer will even be featured in the end. I disagree about the character's looks but I guess that's just personal taste.

well.. remember.. The tailer is out.. but the movie isn't completely finnished.. They spend ledd time on trailers and more on the movie.. Perhaps this Teaser is more like rough animation VS. what the movie will be like....

I knew they reminded me of something, but could not place it!

They do have Bob the Builder in America, but it just does not work with American accents dubbed over Neil Morrisey and co, especially as it's all set in such an obviously British environment.

Grizz hit the nail on the head. Remember, the trailer scene with Mr. Incredible trying to get his belt buckled was not even in the film. Same thing with the trailer for Monsters, Inc. And I can recall several people commenting on this forum how disappointed they were when they found out Pixar was doing a film about fish.

I hated that. Glad to see it isn't in the movie...

WHATTT!!?? I thought that was hilarious. Hmm maybe its the British humour thing again. That sort of gag would not be out of place in a 'Carry on' Film

This is a John Lasseter film, so the odds on it being a stinker are "NIL to ZERO". :D

Toy Story 3 isn't a John Lasseter film, so let's hope out of principle that it's somewhat of a stinker to embarrass Disney, but not tarnish the Toy Story name.

If there is one company I trust to put out a solid movie every time, it is Pixar. I have yet to find even one of their major features in any way bad, so I am sure Cars will deliver--I am sure we can all relate with all the annoyances of the road, so I think this movie will be a lot of fun to watch.

Yeah, you almost expect them to bust out somewhere and say something about Chevron with Techron or something....

But hey its a movie about cars...I can't wait to see what Pixar does with it...

I don't care about the looks of the trailer. I LOVE the trailer simply because they play the song "Westbound Sign" by Green Day. Did anybody else notice that? Green Day is my favorite band in the world!

Hey, I'm still disappointed! of all Pixar movies, the only trailer that fooled me was Nemo's. All the others were funny trailers (come on, A Bug's Life "Sorry!" trailer is awesome!) that led to funny movies. And I bet Cars is gonna be great. I really like Owen Wilson.

Gotta agree with the Chevron cars comment. I was surprised after I saw the preview that Chevron hadn't sued yet on copyright issues. As for the movie itself, I am -really- nervous about it, as in my opinion the preview wasn't funny at all and the characters seemed forgetable. But you never know! I remember I had a similar reaction after the first preview came out for The Lion King. I was wrong then too...
