Hi can anyone tell me if the conceirge is worth it at the Grand Floridian? We aew going in 3 weeks, and was wondering if we should consider it? :)

I guess I can't speak to the Grand's concierge specifically, but last time we went to the Poly we did the concierge and I'm guessing the level of service is *roughly* similar.

It's fabulous, in that you feel pampered and you get tons of snacks and drinks and all the other usual great things like turndown service, etc...plus you have the concierge desk service which is a nice perk too.

That said...it is expensive. Really expensive. And this is coming from someone who does not typically have a problem with the words "splurge" and "vacation".

I'd say the major deciding factors are:

A) Are you OK with the price?

and

B) How much time do you typically spend at your resort in WDW when you go? It's different for a lot of people. On the days we were at the Poly most of the day, concierge was awesome -- because you're actually there to enjoy the drinks and snacks and light dinners, etc. But if you're more inclined to spend 10, 12 hours a day out at the parks, you might not get as much out of it.

I posted this same question yesterday. The feed back I got back was that it was fabulous and lovely. Here's where I was coming from with the question...the last trip (Nov 08) we were family of the day and bumped up to the conceirge level at the Yacht Club. It was incredible! Snacks were lovley - the room was grand but over all...I didn't understand why someone would pay the additional price for it b/c I didn't see where it was worth the money. That being said, on this next trip - we are making it Grand at the Grand baby! We have the Deluxe Dining pkg and are taking a tour! It's lovely. However, we would love to stay in the main building which is consierge level. So I asked, other then snacks during the day, the discount to the excursion with the AK, what else is there? What is another perk? I know turn down service but something i read at the GF indicated that the turn down service was available for everyone, regardless of level.

So I am still trying to get that answered... is turn down service available to the entire GF resort?

I look forward to hearing other peoples opinions on if it is worth it.

I can't speak from experience, but a friend of mine stayed at the concierge level for her sisters Disney wedding. She said it was a once in a lifetime experience and was beautiful. I don't know a lot of details, but she raves about it if you ask her. If you are okay with the price, I would give it a go. I think it's something anyone would love to do. :o

My wife's cousin stayed there and used it. She very much enjoyed it and said she would only stay there from now on. But that was about 5 years ago and they have not been back. They enjoyed being able to get snacks and relax from running around in the parks.

I have stayed concierge at the Poly twice - 2001 and 2008. The experience in 2001 was great. The CMs got us reservations at any restaurant we wanted, the buffets were delicious and the overall experience was very posh. Last year was quite a different story. The CMs seemed confused and untrained. They couldn't get us some reservations and it took FOREVER to get us checked in. The food selection was ridiculously small and limited to snack food. In 2001 we could replace lunch and breakfast with the food available there, but definitely not last year...we were starving. We will not be spending that money again next year for subpar service.

That being said, I don't know if this is a WDW change in conceirge service or if the GF would have better amenities. I would be hesitant to try it again.

Each concierge level will vary just as each resort varies.

The Contemporary is honestly at the bottom of the list in our experience, with Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom being in the middle and Boardwalk being the best so far. We are fairly neutral on the Poly and the Grand.

Food options, location and size of the lounges, quality of staff services, etc....all depend on the individual resort.

We paid for concierge one year at WL and when we checked in they no longer had any rooms available on the "conceirge" floor. We were placed in a regular room and given access to that floor on our room key.

As we are two people who are NEVER in our room, this was a giant mistake on our part as we never got to take advantage of the snacks throughout the day as well as wine and cheese in the evening. Nope. Missed it all.

Won't do that again. Well now we are DVC members at WL and do a two bedroom villa each year so we have no need for concierge.
