Trip Report *COMPLETED* The More the Merrier - November/December 2020

Hello friends!

We have been back from our most recent trip to WDW for over two months, but I have just wrapped up my September trip report, so I am a little delayed in starting this one. Nevertheless, I am excited to share this trip report with you, and hope you all enjoy following along! Let's get down to the nitty gritty!

When: Sunday, November 29th - Saturday, December 5th. Six nights! That's a long one for us.

Where: The Cabins at Fort Wilderness! If you read my trip report from September 2019, you may recall that we absolutely fell in love with Ft. Wilderness when we stayed there, and we were itching to go back! When I found a great deal on the cabins for our favorite week to go during the holidays, it was a no brainer!

Who: By this point, many of you already know me (Katie), and my husband Jason:

We also had another passenger along for the trip, which brings me to the reason for the title:

We are expecting! I am due with a baby boy in June! Due date right now is the 10th, but he's measuring a little big, so I'm hoping they'll move that up, because I'm not trying to give birth to a 10-pounder! :in pain:. Some of you know that we struggled with infertility for a few years, so we are over the moon to finally be welcoming our firstborn. I was around 12/13 weeks pregnant while we were on this trip, so an alternate title for the TR could be "The One with All the HoRmOnEs."

And because I have made you wait so long for this TR, here's a bonus pic of Little Man. He does have a name, but we won't be sharing it until after he's born. And I'm not 100% decided on whether I want to share it on this platform...we'll see.

Doing Disney while pregnant was a totally different experience, and I hope that this trip report can shed some light on what that is like, in case any of you are planning future pregnancies, or traveling with a pregnant woman in the future.

I hope you all enjoy following along on our trip, and make plenty of popcorn, because this is going to be a long one!

Thank you all for the love on the nursery! I could not have done it without my mom and sister's help - they are both much more artistically inclined than I am! I will share another update once we're done with the nursery - just have to get the furniture put together and hang some artwork and bookshelves on the walls!

Congratulations! The golf cart looks festive and fun! Following along and interested to see what Disneyworld is like these days with the pandemic.
Thank you! And thank you for following along!
The nursery looks SO cute!!!!!! ❤️❤️
Sweet nursery wall!!
Thank you both! :)
Love this!!! I've wanted to do this to my office, but I just don't have the patience. Great job! Looks amazing!!!
It was really intimidating on paper, but the three of us got it done (with me having to take a lot of breaks) in about twelve hours, over the course of two days. I think the hardest part was drawing out the shapes and taping everything off.

After we got off the Wildlife Express Train, we headed over to the Gorilla Falls trail to say hello to some more animals. We saw these monkeys...

It's a huge undertaking to do a wall like that. Even with normal painting, the taping wears me out. So, I can only imagine with taping and drawing. I'm supposed to paint a room next week...just pretty standard stuff, and I'm dreading it.

After exploring the Gorilla Falls Trail, we headed back out into Harambe Village. I loved the look of the holiday decorations in this area of the park!

Afterward, we started making our way toward Asia. I have a feeling this Christmas will be the "Best Christmas Ever." 🥰

Once we made our way into Asia, we decided to check out the Maharajah Jungle Trek. More monkeys...

We love the theming of this area.

And of course, we had to visit the tiger. We asked the CM nearby which tiger this was, I want to say she said it was the male that was born 2-3 years ago?

While on the Maharajah Jungle Trek, I made a point to get a picture of these giant birds. They look similar to peacocks, but the CM said they are a breed of pigeon. It's slightly alarming when one of these big guys flies right over your head!

After exiting the trail, I tried to convince Jason to ride Expedition Everest, as it only had a 20 minute wait, but he didn't want to ride without me. You'll find that's a common theme throughout this trip.

Since we had done everything I could do in Asia, we headed over to Dinoland to check out one of our favorite gift shops, and see the dino skeleton all lit up for the holidays. I'm sure it looks much cooler when it's dark outside!

By this point in the afternoon, I was *starving*, so we went in search of some popcorn. We had already passed the popcorn cart in Dinoland, so we continued on to Discovery Island. On the way, I grabbed this picture of this beautiful wall.

We finally found a popcorn cart that was open, where I got some popcorn in the cute white Christmas tree bucket, as well as a drink in the green jingle bell sipper. After chowing down, we headed over to the Discovery Island gift shops to do some browsing. We had traveled to Disneyland for our holiday season trip in 2019, so we hadn't seen all of the holiday decorations they added in this area!

By this time, it was nearing 5:00, and we had a dinner reservation to get to, so we decided to head out of the park. But if you know me at all, you know I had to grab some pictures of my favorite park icon first!

After we exited Animal Kingdom, we headed out to the bus stop to catch a bus, but we weren't headed back to Ft. Wilderness. Since we had a dinner reservation at Disney Springs and you can't take a bus directly to DS from the parks, we hopped a bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge, hopped off at Jambo House, and caught a bus to Disney Springs from there. We got off at Jambo House with the intention of running in to check out their Christmas tree, but the Disney Springs bus came immediately after the Animal Kingdom bus dropped us off, so we abandoned that plan and headed straight to Disney Springs. We got to ride in this bus with the Disney Plus overlay!

Once we made it to Disney Springs, we made the hike to our dinner destination - House of Blues! This place seems to be so far away from everything since the Disney Springs expansion a few years ago. We had a 6:30 reservation, but we arrived at 6:15 and were seated immediately.

For our drinks, Jason got the Barrel Brew cocktail, which has bourbon and espresso. And I got a Coke. We definitely need to go back when I'm not pregnant, because their drink menu looked great! For our food, I got the BBQ Chicken Flatbread, which I'm surprised to see does not appear on their menu anymore. Smoked meat has been one of my biggest food/smell aversions that has lasted throughout my entire pregnancy, so that eliminated a good chunk of the menu. Thankfully, the chicken on the flatbread was not smoked, and I really enjoyed it!

Jason got the Smokehouse with brisket, which he also really enjoyed! The jalapeno cornbread that came with it was delicious!

For our dessert, we split the bread pudding. If you watch Disney Food Blog's YouTube channel, you've heard AJ rave about this dessert. We really enjoyed the flavors of the bread pudding, the sauce, and the whiskey butter, but we were a little thrown off by the fact that it was served cold. We thought it would have been that much better had it been served warm. After trying the bread pudding at 'Ohana, Raglan Road, and House of Blues, we both still think that 'Ohana has the best bread pudding on property.

Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere at House of Blues, and we'll definitely be back!
