Trip Report * COMPLETED* The Let's Never Go Home Trip

Hey everyone! I don't have all my pictures and videos sorted or anything yet but its a rainy cold day here in Buffalo so why not work on my trip report :) I took over 4000 videos and pictures (I started a youtube channel for my videos  ) so bear with me as I sort through them all! All and all we had a great trip and I wish we weren't home already :(

For those of you who want to see my PTR here it is: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/the-dole-whip-extravaganza.910063/

Let's get started!

Who?:
From left to right: My Dad (Jeff), My Mom (Mary), Nick (Jill's Boyfriend), My Sister Jill (@Disney Dentist ) and Me (Megan!)
PhotoPass_Visiting_Epcot_7674127906.jpg

When?
Jill and Nick were there from April 29 - May 6
My parents and I were there from April 30 - May 12

Where?
We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter! Its our favorite hotel (moderate wise) for sure and it did not disappoint this trip :) We had a great time there and after not having stayed there for a few trips we really enjoyed being back at our "home."

Why?
Why not? We planned this trip before my mom and I went to DL and WDW by ourselves; it was originally a trip to help us get through our post Disney depression from February 2015 but we also ended up going twice more before this....haha

The Title?
We were there for a record (for us) 13 days and it seemed like we were never going to have to leave...unfortunately day 13 did come and we did eventually have to go home. Even after being there for so long I still wasn't ready to leave!

T-1 Day to go:
Jill and Nick were already in Disney but my parents and I could not leave until Saturday because I have clinic on Fridays which is non-negitionable (we get our vacation in two week blocks so technically my vacation didn't start until May 2 but luckily I was able to get the weekend off before). Anyway we had Jills dogs to take care of for one day. I was off my from regular rotation in the morning which was nice because we had time to get our nails done. However, just about an hour before I had to go to clinic my sister's one dog had some issues :hungover: Here I am bathing him (with my fresh manicure) right before having to go to work...
IMG_2190.JPG

Meanwhile this is the text I get when I am at clinic....
IMG_2191.JPG

Must be nice...;) Anyway we got him cleaned up and when I got home from work we got the dogs all situated at their respective places to stay. We then checked we packed everything and I made my Dad sit down with me and make sure he had everything he needed. This will come into play later since he really wasn't paying attention to me

Day 1 Travel Day
Well our flight was leaving at 6:50 am so we got up around 4:00 am to get ready to go. Luckily we live close to the airport but still planned on leaving around 5 am to make sure we had time. I had a weird feeling all morning that the airport was going to be packed so I was a little more anxious than usual
IMG_1073.JPG

IMG_1075.JPG
IMG_1078.JPG

Anyway we shoved our five (yes five, and my 2 were both full size) suitcases into my Dad's car and off we went to the airport. We ended up leaving a little before 5. We got to the airport and we parked and had to drag our suitcases into the terminal. Its not that far but I was spoiled by our last few trips where my Dad dropped us off at the door haha. Anyway as we were on the elevator I was super anxious and my Dad was like calm down its never that crowded. Literally as soon as he said that the door opened and what did we see? A HUGE line for security...like out the entrance for it all the way through the airport.:confused: I almost panicked but instead thought "oh no worries we almost always get TSA pre-check." So we check in and the tickets come out and no pre-check for my Mom and I. My Dad always gets it because he is a government/army employee. He was going to wait in line with us but I told him to go ahead so in case we were so long we didn't get to board on time he could save our seats. I also assumed maybe he would get us breakfast...spoiler alert he didn't haha
Anyway my poor mother had to deal with me through the almost hour we waited in security..I was so nervous we were going to miss our flight (or at least boarding). Luckily we got out around 6:15 and our boarding was 6:25.
My mom and I met my Dad at the gate and while he didn't get us breakfast he did get us cookies so there is that :) Thumbs up we made it on time, as I am sure many people did not make it! In fact our flight definitely left without some people.
IMG_1079.JPG
IMG_4111.JPG

My penguin and dinosaur were ready to go!
IMG_4113.JPG

We were in the early A's so we got a good seat and immediately put on our magic bands :)

I LOL'd when I saw you got Kylo again. I can imagine your faces after both your father and you admitted you had no idea of what to say to him. I have a crush on Kylo :angelic: (all that luscious hair under that mask:inlove:) so I will have to try it at least once! I know my daughter will be freaked out by it. She is very protective of me and will probably pull me away. But I love me some villains! :D

Haha my Dad and I literally could only think to say "you killed your dad" but didn't think it was appropriate :) Bahaha funny that you have a crush on him :) Definitely worth the wait to meet him then :)

We had a FP coming up after this so headed over to....
IMG_1676.jpg

Frozen!
IMG_0315.JPG

IMG_1686.jpg

I wish I could say we enjoyed this, but there was a kid behind us who literally cried the entire time. Like the parents did not even try to stop her or make an attempt to leave. It was so loud that we really could not enjoy the show. I was so sad because it was my Dad's first time seeing this and I knew he would appreciate the humor :( However, I felt even sadder for the little girl next to us who was trying to enjoy the show and sing a long but could not even hear the words :jawdrop::cry:
Well, as we were leaving the theatre a CM tapped my Dad on the shoulder and gave him these
IMG_0319_2.JPG

He felt so bad about the girl and gave us these! It was super nice of him and we definitely did not expect it :)
After this I really wanted to see the Star Wars stage show so we took some Photopass pictures while we waited!

Olaf!
PhotoPass_Visiting_STUDIO_7682625567.jpeg.jpeg

PhotoPass_Visiting_STUDIO_7682625566.jpeg

Finally the stage show started and we watched. I guess I would not call it a show as it is just different characters coming out briefly, but it was still neat. If you are not right in front of the stage, however, you honestly can not see much (at least if you are just over 5 foot like me haha). We could not see BB8 at all because he is so little :(
IMG_0322.JPG

After this it was off to Toy Story for our next Fast Pass!
IMG_0333_2.JPG

My Mom and I both actually had a hard time seeing the screen for some reason. We both did not do well haha. My Dad beat us both significantly :) Makes up for him losing at Mini golf ;)

Next up: Backstage passes ;)

We headed over to Aerosmith after this to use our bonus Fast Pass. Since we got to the park a little later than usual we did not get on the ride in the morning like we usually do. This is one of my Mom's favorite rides so it was nice we had this bonus FP and could get on!
IMG_0345_2.JPG

IMG_0347.JPG

BAHAHA My Dad's face! I literally just now saw this for the first time!
PhotoPass_Visiting_STUDIO_7682712265.jpeg.jpeg

We enjoyed our ride as always and got backstage passes again...can you believe it?! ;)
PhotoPass_Visiting_STUDIO_7682714696.jpeg.jpeg

After this we had one last FP for Tower of Terror!
IMG_0352_2.JPG
IMG_0353.JPG

We enjoyed our ride but it had so many more drops than usual ! It was crazy!
PhotoPass_Visiting_STUDIO_7682746918.jpeg.jpeg
IMG_0354.JPG

After this we headed over to our lunch reservation
IMG_0357_2.JPG

Our final destination was Mama Melrose's!

IMG_0373.JPG

We were starving so ordered some appetizers
My Mom and I shared the Mixed Green Salad
IMG_0375.JPG

My Dad had the Caesar Salad
IMG_0376.JPG

We all really enjoyed our salads!
For entrees my Mom had the Spaghetti with meatballs
IMG_0380.JPG

My Dad had the Oven-baked Chicken alla Parmigiana
IMG_0379.JPG

The real reason we came to this restaurant was because ever since reading @LisaBelle 's TR I HAD to have this steak!
The Charred Strip Steak with the Four Cheese Macaroni
This picture is horrible and blurry because I rushed the picture because I was so excited to eat it!
IMG_0378.JPG

Despite the horrible picture this steak was AMAZING! As was the mac and cheese that came with it! I am so happy I read @LisaBelle 's TR and we tried this out. We all really enjoyed our meal (although I think my Dad wished he ordered the steak haha) and will definitely be back again! I have heard many bad things about this restaurant, but we would recommend it!
After we marched our full selves out of the restaurant we headed towards the exit
You can see that Pizza Planet (PizzeRizzo?) is all boarded up!
IMG_0359.JPG

On our way out we passed the Olaf meet and greet area and it was listed as a 5 minute wait so we could not pass it up!
Honestly I thought Olaf would have had a longer wait time but I don't think people knew he was meeting since it just started like this week! When we met Olaf my Dad started singing "In Summerrrrrrrrr...." to him! It was really funny and the CMs laughed really hard. Olaf said he enjoyed it :)
PhotoPass_Visiting_STUDIO_7682897357.jpeg.jpeg

He's so cute :inlove:
After this we got on the bus and headed back home
The bus was not very crowded...

:hungry: My mouth is watering. I. Want. That. Steak. Right. Now!!!!!!!! So glad you tried the steak and enjoyed it! My sister was just like your dad. She was super sad that she did not order the steak. @Tuvalu had a picture of this steak in her TR, too. You ladies are killing me! Mama Melrose is now a must do for my future trips.
So jealous you got to meet Olaf! I just love him! Very cute interaction!

Olaf was so cute! My Mom and I met him in Disneyland so I was happy he's in Disney World now! That steak was so good! I actually (almost) enjoyed it more than my steak at California Grill

Haha sure we can adopt you! Once I finish residency I will probably not be going as much so I figured I will get it all in now while I can! My Dad is super funny! There are some poses coming up with Photopass pics that I love so much! He had not been to Disney with us in awhile before this trip so it was funny to see just how into it was since he makes it seem like he doesn't like Disney that much! Everything in Mama Melroses is very good its a tough choice :)

Day 10 continued
When we got back to the hotel we relaxed by the pool and swam a little. I know people think the pool games are loud and annoying but we think they are fun to watch. I always like the trivia and see if I can get the answers. My Dad and I were swimming during the game where they throw the critters in the pool and we were laughing so hard because there was this one kid who kept cheating and picking them up before the CM said go and they had to reset like 10 times. The kids parents finally saw him doing it and took him out of the pool. Anyway we then laughed at all the kids so excited finding critters and flinging them at the poor CM! After swimming we played some Heads Up at the pool and came up with a plan for the next day.
Finally we got dressed and we were ready to head back to the MK!
While we were heading into the MK I saw this poor little baby bird looking for his/her Mom
IMG_0388_2.JPG

I could not stop watching him/her and my Dad had to pull me away. I hope he/she found the Mom
On Main Street we stopped for a picture and the girl taking pictures was from Niagara University which is a local college. We had a nice chat with her and she said she is always so happy to see people from Buffalo as it makes her less homesick. She also said she really misses Wegmans (our grocery stores) :p
I wore the pinkest romper ever made....

Next up: Dessert time

And I always sing along (don't worry, I don't disturb other guests.....much.)

As a gift to my parents for putting up with me and this insanely long trip I booked the Wishes Dessert Party. We headed over to Tomorrowland Terrace to get in line to check in! We were behind a woman who was absolutely livid that the seats were not assigned anymore. I felt bad for her because she felt like it wasn't worth the money anymore, but honestly the seats were better in my opinion and she seemed to be happy when we got in! Anyway in line my Dad seemed like he was not feeling well (crowd issues again ) and I told him he could leave if he didn't feel good like 3 times. Anyway we checked in, got our sparkling cider and the CM asked which side we wanted to sit on. I chose the left side (everyone else was choosing the right) and when she sat us she said we were at her favorite table :joyfull:
Hello beautiful
IMG_0422.jpg

Anyway my Mom went up and grabbed some food. This is the only picture I have haha It was too dark otherwise!
IMG_0424.JPG

I loved that they added more fruit and cheese. I ate like a 100 pieces of cheese haha
Anyway at this point my Dad is not eating anything. Like legitimately would not even drink the sparkling cider or coffee. I told him (again) to leave if he was not feeling well and finally he said OK and left. :banghead:
I was more than irritated, only because I asked him several times in line if he wanted to leave and he said no so sat at the dessert party miserable for awhile. I was not mad that he was "sick" obviously (esp since this happened to my Mom and I last time we went) but I was annoyed his mood semi-ruined it for my Mom and I. After he left we literally could not stop thinking about it until I forced us to stop talking about it and enjoy the food and the view. After that we started having fun.

Oops.....I took pictures the entire time! It was so nice to be sitting there watching Wishes and we really enjoyed the seats. I know its pricey and we would not do it every trip, but I like the dessert party. With the changes in the past year (i.e. table cloth, sparkling cider) the price went up, but I still think its worth the treat. To be able to sit, enjoy the desserts and not have to get strollers rammed into you is pretty nice :) My Mom and I did both think that there were less desserts than there used to be though.
Anyway we went out the back way they open after Wishes and got on the bus right away. When we got back to the hotel we found my Dad watching TV, perfectly fine . On a side note he was watching some super weird network competition show (ABC, NBC, CBS) from the 80s where the teams were competing in different events like swimming and canoeing. It was bizarre haha
After watching we were off to bed.

Next up: A game to play

YES! The guys on the wall are hilarious. We watched them more than we watch the show. I will def be singing along next time! As it was I'm sure we disturbed some people with our hilarious laughing and crying haha

I've never done Country Bears! I'm not sure my 2yo will sit through it so I've been putting it off. Glad to hear it's funny!

Its super funny! The show is not too bad in length. I believe it is 11 minutes. There is a lot to look at too which may be good for her!
