Trip Report COMPLETED! Our First Family Trip...Oh, and My Disney Wedding! A PeoplemoverTTA Trip Report.

Okay, we’ve been back for two weeks now, so I guess it’s time to get started on my TR. I’ve been feeling the post-wedding blues, so this might be some good therapy ;)

For a rundown on the trip and my Disney wedding, here’s my wedding planning thread. There are lots of details over there! Also, Todd and I went to WDW for a long weekend to celebrate our 1-year dating anniversary. If you’re bored and love TRs, you might enjoy it :)

But here’s a really quick rundown anyway:

Who
Me - 33 y/o VP of a marketing firm (I just merged my social media marketing company with a full service firm, effective August 1 - lots going on this summer!)
DH - 40 y/o healthcare employee
DS - 10 y/o stepson who has never been to WDW before (or anywhere, really)

When
Friday, July 11 through Monday, July 21

Where
Disney’s Boardwalk Villas (we rented points through DVC Rental Store)

The Wedding
Oh yeah, so the wedding was on Tuesday, July 15 at the Walt Disney World Swan. Right smack dab in the middle of our trip (it was designed that way, so we could enjoy a family trip with my new stepson, enjoy the wedding festivities, then have a short honeymoon - it worked out perfectly!).

So, our trip kicked off on Friday, July 11. Our Southwest flight from BUF to MCO left at 6am, so that meant a bright and early, 2:30am wakeup. My brother in law took us to the airport, and we checked in at about 4am. Ugh.

Still, my boys were feeling pretty chipper - we were heading to WDW!

Moving walkways are an adventure:

Checking out the plane outside:
IMG_3146.jpg

Brandon was nervous about flying for the first time, but he did very well, and was cool as a cucumber as soon as we were comfortably high in the air:
DSCN0248.jpg

Just in case we had long lines for DME, I scheduled a town car pickup with Tiffany Towncar. We had used them back in 2004 (before DME) and had a great experience, and we weren’t disappointed this time either. Our driver, Abdul, was a really friendly guy and was waiting for us at baggage claim as we came down the escalator. We quickly gathered our luggage and hopped into our Lincoln. Todd is a car guy, so he was excited to ride in one :)

Even loading luggage is fun - we’re in Orlando!
DSCN0260.jpg

Todd wanted to ride shotgun and explore the Lincoln, and he was snapping pictures the whole way.

He was so excited to get this shot (isn’t everybody?):

Sounds like that was an amazing dinner with all the family and friends there at Trails End. The pictures turned out really cute and was really cool of the manager to ring the bell and kiss display to announce the upcoming wedding. The little things done at Disney that make it a special place. Following along for the big day.

Thanks! I loved Trail's End - they really were great. The food was good, prices were great and the servers really went above and beyond. Some of my family is still talking about that meal!

Day 5 (July 15, 2014) - Wedding Day! (FINALLY)

Well the big day was finally here :) We had a nice wakeup for 5am, and I tossed and turned a bit…it’s a lot of pressure to know you’re getting married the next day, lol.

Our hair and makeup people were coming at 5:45 (apparently it takes 2+ hours and they want to build in enough time in case someone’s late…the wedding was at 10am - plenty of time!).

My planner (also named Diana - she was awesome) had called to let me know that the Swan reserved the Dove suite for me to get ready, and to call the front desk where a key would be ready for me.

Well when I called as we were heading downstairs, the front desk had no record of that suite being ready for me, lol. I had given the instructions to hair & makeup and the dress steaming service to come there, so I was a little nervous. The front desk just sent security to manually open the door, though - no worries.

D%252CT0023%25207-15-14.jpg

Hair and makeup came right on time, and Janet and I got all dolled up while Charlie played, lol. No pictures here, sorry (I was too in the action!). I knew that - despite the heat - I wanted my hair half up and half down - Todd prefers my hair down, and I wanted it to be something he'd like/remember. I had no preferences on makeup, other than I didn’t want to look like Tammy Fay Baker. So I think I was easy to please :) My sister was the same way - whatever the girls thought looked good for hair and makeup was good for her! We are low key chicks - they kept telling us how awesome we were, lol. I imagine they get some seriously uptight brides and bridesmaids in their job!

My dress was also delivered while they were doing hair and makeup - it was like 6:30am, so I was really surprised that the shop’s (Carolyn Allen’s) owners delivered it themselves! They were super nice and actually refunded me $30 because of something I ended up not shipping but had prepaid for.

After hair and makeup were done, we were starving so I ordered some room service to the suite (Hello - I should have had food first! Ah well, my makeup held up fine). I had the most amazing oatmeal ever and some decaf coffee with orange juice, and Janet had pancakes with eggs and bacon that were really good, plus orange juice.

How much do you think it came to for both? Just guess?

If you said $40, you’d be right! $40 for pancakes and oatmeal! I didn’t care at the time since there was plenty of other excitement, but in retrospect that was pretty crazy :)

Right after breakfast, my aunt and cousin (with her son, Mason) arrived. It was around 8:30 at this point.

I’m still in a t-shirt and shorts, lol, but have my hair, makeup and mini veil all ready to rock! (The suite was MASSIVE, considering we only had like 4 people in there - it was cool).

D%252CT0015%25207-15-14.jpg

Around 9am, my planner and her assistant (who was also her sister) arrived. Diana had been so awesome for 9 months, I couldn’t help but give her a big hug - I felt like we had met before because we “talked” so much during planning! She gave me a breakdown of time, etcetera, and let me know that she had all the favors and stuff I sent over ahead of time, that they would set them up and also help the boys with their boutonnieres and my aunts and Todd’s mom with their corsages. Our photographer, Randy, also arrived around this time to introduce himself and take a few pictures (all the good ones here are his, lol).

Then, it was time for me to put on my dress. Holy crap (pardon my french), was I nervous! I was literally shaking at this point. I am usually the person in the back making commentary and jokes, and now here I was front and center…and getting married to the love of my life! I was SOOOOOOO nervous! I didn’t want to look stupid, or do the wrong thing. And I wanted to soak it all up and remember how everything looked, sounded, smelled, felt…I wanted to burn it into my brain :)

Oops, I forgot some pictures in the last one!

Randy took this picture of my dress (with a bride necklace thing my sister bought me):

D%252CT0001%25207-15-14.jpg

And my flip flops (heck yes at my wedding - and they were $20 at Old Navy!) and fake flowers…oh my gosh I am so glad I didn’t spend $300 on flowers that no one was looking at and would wilt anyway. These cost $50!

D%252CT0004%25207-15-14.jpg

And look how cute my nephew and cousin’s son are - they coordinated the boys’ outfits so they would match :)

IMG_3683.jpg

Here are some pics Randy took of everyone getting ready and gathered in the Swan lobby - I told everyone to arrive at 9:30, and it looks like everyone did!

I like this one of our rings (my diamonds wrap around the diamond on my engagement ring so together, it looks almost like it’s one big ring - I am very low key and classic, so my rings are perfect!):

D%252CT0045%25207-15-14.jpg

Diana pinning his boutonniere on Todd (in the background on the left is our officiant, Ron):

D%252CT0025%25207-15-14.jpg

Brandon getting his (we wanted him to be comfortable but also go with our relaxed vibe, so he wore a short sleeved white button down shirt with khaki dress shorts - I think he looked very handsome!). Todd takes him to a $5 haircut place, so I took him to my salon the last time we had him before the trip - he likes his hair longer even though we usually cut it short, but I wanted him to be happy with it so he ended up with this longer 'do - I think it looks good:

D%252CT0030%25207-15-14.jpg

Taking care of my in laws, with cousins in the background (my father in law had a stroke several years ago and has a hard time getting around so he rented an ECV from Walker Mobility):

And now Randy headed out to the ceremony site while Diana continued prepping. Here’s the lay of the land:

D%252CT0052%25207-15-14.jpg

I had the pins and programs made on Etsy - We LOVED how they turned out (and apparently lots of CMs asked my family where they got them). I also got the bubbles super cheap on Amazon:

D%252CT0056%25207-15-14.jpg

Our guest “book” was actually a poster I also bought on Etsy (I bought the design, and had it printed locally - it’s hanging in our hall, rather than a book somewhere we’d never look see it. Every time we walk by it I’m reminded of my wedding day!). Those are actually my Disney pens I sent ahead (I figured it was appropriate, lol). Plus our bride and groom ears (Todd gave them to our planner ahead of time) and the ring bearer pillow with rings.

D%252CT0066%25207-15-14.jpg

Just about everyone’s ready - so where am I?

D%252CT0071%25207-15-14.jpg

Well, there’s only one close place to the beach where I could wait and not melt, and that was their gym, lol (all the people working out were staring at me and offering congratulations). So at about 9:30ish my sister, aunt, cousin and kids all left…oh dear Lord how nervous I was at this point - all alone and nervous! Then, my planner came to walk me to the gym, where my dad was waiting for me. It was about 9:45 at this point. My dad is a low key guy and doesn’t get dressed up. Since it was a beach wedding, I told him a Hawaiian-type shirt would work…he wore his sneakers, lol. It fit our vibe, though! I also love that several people are wearing their Magicbands, including my dad (It’s funny - hello, we were on vacation!).

So Randy missed a lot of my family sitting or being escorted, which is weird, but someone grabbed this one of my brother walking my aunts (I asked them both since they are my mom’s sisters and my mom passed away):

IMG_3275.jpg

It was time for action!

Diana came and gave me the nod, and my dad and I were off around the bend to meet my soon-to-be husband…and everyone else :)

Here’s my dad handing me off to Todd, lol:

D%252CT0073%25207-15-14.jpg

From another angle (see my dad’s sneakers, lol):

D%252CT0074%25207-15-14.jpg

Side note: My sister’s dress is from Kohl’s! I wanted her to have something she’d wear again (and she has), and I just wanted it to look close to our colors. I bought this for her for $90 - good deal :) It matches really well, too. Todd and Eric (my brother in law) are wearing khaki vests and pants from Men’s Warehouse. They were shipped right to MW in Orlando and delivered to our hotel. Everything there was flawless and super easy.

I have a thoughtful nod here, lol:

D%252CT0094%25207-15-14.jpg

Ron sent me several options for each section of our wedding and vows, and Todd and I chose them well in advance. It turned out really beautifully. I think the words were perfect!

The ceremony was about 20 minutes and, oh yeah…

Man and wife!

D%252CT0098%25207-15-14.jpg

I’m a little bummed Randy didn’t get a pic of us actually kissing and also exchanging rings, but oh well. We have a video, at least!

So here we are, moments after saying, “I do!” We stopped for this pic and headed to the sidewalk where our cake, sparkling cider (it was only 10:30, lol) and first dance would be.

Janet and Eric followed us (my brother in law looks so serious!):

D%252CT0112%25207-15-14.jpg

Have I told the story here about my sister and brother in law? They dated in the mid to late 90s and she dumped him (lol). In 2010 they reconnected and fell in love all over again. They were married in May 2012. I was the maid of honor and Todd was the best man. Sparks flew, and Todd asked me out the night of the wedding. The rest, as we say, is history :) Todd and Eric have been best friends since they were 3, and my sister and I are and have always been best friends. It’s very fitting :)

Greeting folks while they prepared the cake:

D%252CT0117%25207-15-14.jpg

Greeting my new in laws:

D%252CT0130%25207-15-14.jpg

I wonder what my sister is thinking in the background there, lol. I love stuff like that :)

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention but will come as no surprise - it was HOT! It was in the mid-80s by 10am, and everyone was roasting (especially poor Charlie). They had water for everyone while they were waiting for the ceremony, and more water with the sparkling cider with the cake, but I worried about everyone in that heat. Luckily we were in some shade after the ceremony.

So everyone’s mingling, congratulating and waiting for cake when my big surprise for our guests arrived:

D%252CT0141%25207-15-14.jpg

Holla!

And in his freaking tux! How perfect! How adorable!

How expensive!

Yes folks, if you ever want Mickey Mouse to come to your event for 30 minutes, it will cost you $900.

But it was worth every. Single. Penny.

So everyone, and I mean everyone (even my in laws who aren’t Disney people and my aunt who picks on Disney) got pictures with Mickey (my aunt even took a selfie, lol). I won’t share all of them because they’re pretty much all the same.

Nice family photo (with a naked parrot on my dad’s shoulder, lol…poor Charlie was roasting by this point!):

10489622_10203152706756686_2793061180270274668_n.jpg

I love Brandon’s expression in this one. A genuine small smile (as the sun got brighter poor Brandon was blinded and smiles were few and far between - you’ll see):

Next up, our first dance. Todd picked out the song, a really obscure 80s song that I linked to in my wedding planning report…I can’t remember the name, lol! I want to say it’s called “Dream Come True” or something like that? By a hair band that had like 1 or 2 songs. What an awful bride I am that I can’t remember!

It was seriously bright by this point, lol:

D%252CT0413%25207-15-14.jpg

Now for some obligatory wedding shots!

Boys:

D%252CT0461%25207-15-14.jpg

My brother in law looks like nobility or something, the way he’s posing, lol.

Girls:

Boys and Girls:

D%252CT0479%25207-15-14.jpg

And oh my gosh I love my brother in law’s expression - what the heck is going on there?! We have like 8 copies of that picture, including one where he’s smiling, but these all start to look the same after awhile and this one is funny so there you go :)

With my in laws:

And now it was time to say goodbye to everyone until our dessert party - guests arrive at 8 in the UK, and everyone had their wristbands - I think everyone was relieved to get out of the sun!

Todd, Brandon and I went for some more pictures around the Swan.

Cool kid:

Neat shot - I bought a bracelet in Mouse Gear as my “Something new”:

D%252CT0558%25207-15-14.jpg

Poor Brandon - we bought him these fancy sandals that dug into his foot and actually cut him - I told him he could take them off by this point, lol:

D%252CT0527%25207-15-14.jpg

And hello - it is SUNNY! :)

For now…

We should have brought him sunglasses, lol:

D%252CT0535%25207-15-14.jpg

Is it me or is this picture a little weird?

D%252CT0544%25207-15-14.jpg

I like this one, though:

D%252CT0569%25207-15-14.jpg

And now, poor Brandon was tired, hot and ready for a break, so Janet, Eric, my dad and Jon (who were all still in the Swan lobby waiting for Brandon) took my bags and Brandon to the Boardwalk (my in laws were taking Brandon to DHS and he was staying with them on our wedding night).

Okay guys, that’s it for now - coming up, some pictures at the Boardwalk…and a little unforeseen event, lol.

Congrats on the wedding, every thing turned out beautiful. I would agree that 900 dollars is worth it to have Mickey at the wedding and in the pictures. You to make a cute couple. Following along.

I came across this TR by complete accident but I am so glad I did. Congratulations on your marriage, it looks like such a beautiful wedding and a fun holiday. It would be my dream to get married at Disney... If i didn't live in Australia :( but that's okay, I've really enjoyed reading all about yours! Your commentary on peoples faces in your photos keeps cracking me up (your brother in law takes some doozy's) haha. I would have totally paid for Mickey too!!!! and I'm not guna lie, the photos made me a tad emotional (such a girl)
Anyway can't wait to read the rest :)

Congratulations on the marriage! Great pictures of some magical moments! It was our dream to get married in Disney but in DLP they do not allow it! And 5 years ago WDW was out of our budget! Thanks for sharing and can't wait for the rest! :)

July 15, 2014 - Wedding Day: Continued (FINALLY!)

When we finished up the pics at the Swan, Brandon was literally melting into the ground so we decided to take him back to the Boardwalk. We just so happened to see my brother in law and sister in the Swan lobby while waiting for Randy to bring his car around, and my sister was taking my stuff back to the Boardwalk for me. Brandon would be spending the afternoon with my in laws at DHS while Todd and I took more pics and relaxed a bit before our dessert party.

So we stopped off at the Boardwalk and Todd took Brandon to his parents’ room while Randy went took his car from the Swan to the Boardwalk and I walked around (the lonely bride, lol). Then, we took some shots at my favorite resort:

This one is cute:

D%2CT0587%2B7-15-14.jpg

D%2CT0604%2B7-15-14.jpg

See those clouds? There’s a bit of foreshadowing, lol:

D%2CT0616%2B7-15-14.jpg

I feel like I look giant in this one from the perspective:

D%2CT0633%2B7-15-14.jpg

Okay, so Boardwalk is done - now what? Todd had one request for our wedding photos - he really wanted a monorail shot. So Randy suggested we drive to the Grand Floridian, take some photos there, and hop on the monorail. That worked out well, because my one shot (only if we had time - I was okay if we didn’t) was a shot with Spaceship Earth in the background. I figured we’d do it from one of the Epcot resort hotels, though…

So Randy dove us to the Grand Floridian and took about 10 shots there, but for some reason none of them were in our CDs! Alas, we shall never see those pics, lol.

But he did get the monorail shots :) And we lucked out - we had the whole cabin to ourselves!

I seriously love this:

D%2CT0658%2B7-15-14.jpg

And this is probably my favorite picture from all the wedding photos:

D%2CT0666%2B7-15-14.jpg

Oh, I think I forgot something super important…when we were at GF, it started to rain. Well, pour, really. But we were able to make it onto the monorail for our shots. It slowed down a bit, and we transferred to the Epcot monorail at TTC. The comments from people were very nice - it was fun to be a bride for the day :)

We got off the Epcot monorail and the rain turned into a torrential downpour. I mean really bad - blowing well into the monorail exit, just mowing people down. Incredible. We couldn’t leave the area at all, let alone get pictures.

So Randy snapped some shots of us going with the flow (what can you do)? I think they’re pretty cute:

D%2CT0675%2B7-15-14.jpg

D%2CT0682%2B7-15-14.jpg

Then the rain let up just the tiniest bit…

And we got that Spaceship Earth shot!
