Trip Report COMPLETED For The First Time in Forever, A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow!

DISCLAIMER: This is my first TR ever. Forgive me if I add too many pictures or leave out detail. I'm looking forward to sharing my experience with you! :D

So back in May, Amy and I decided to buckle down and start planning our next trip to Disney. We hadn't been since November of 2010, and that Four year break is definitely too long for us! Despite some criticism that our daughter (who is 2) is too young to enjoy it or remember it really didn't phase us. Because one, I'd remember it, and two, who wouldn't enjoy Disney!? :D

We flew out on Nashville on Monday, September 29th. This was our daughters first plane trip and despite my worries of her not being able to sit still and throwing a fit, she did tremendous! She actually slept most of the way on the plane ride to MCO (Orlando International)!

976_600.jpg
1263_600.jpg

After One and a half hours, we arrived at MCO! Now I will say, I was disappointed with the fact that I had NO clue on where the Disney Magical Express bus was. For whatever reason, I was expecting to come out of the terminal and see a huge sign that said MAGICAL EXPRESS BUS THIS WAY ----->. No such luck (or maybe I'm just blind). We finally found a map of the airport and located the ME. Soon enough we were on our way!

1514_600.jpg

Quite possibly the best feeling in the world is to see this sign and know that all your worries are outside!

1780_600.jpg

We arrived at Pop Century, where we met up with my Mom and Dad. They had actually driven down the night before and were already onsite when we arrived. My sister and her Fiance would join us on Wednesday night (the start of her fall break at WKU). Since we didn't have a ticket for Monday, we stopped by Giordanios (right outside of WDW's campus) and enjoyed dinner. I had the Chicken Alfredo, which quite possibly was one of the best I'd ever eaten. Of course, without fail, while we were in the restaurant, it comes a flood. So any plans of going to Downtown Disney for the evening to shop around were a bust. So we just went back to our room and rested up for the upcoming week. Payton (my daughter) wasn't feeling the best (Other than a short nap on the plane, she hadn't rested any) so we went ahead and went to bed.

Day 2: Magic Kindgom

RISE AND SHINE! We got up around 7am Tuesday morning, everyone feeling much better after a good night's rest, so we went down to get breakfast and then to wait for the bus to Magic Kingdom!

2005_600.jpg
2271_600.jpg

We ended up on one of the new articulating buses, which was pretty neat. Also, for the record, this was our first time staying in a Walt Disney World resort. For the previous Six trips, we always stayed in Downtown Disney. I'm a huge fan of the Buena Vista Palace, however, we wanted to take advantage of the Magical Express, Luggage service, and all the other ammenties that were offered to resort guests... So we opted for Pop Century this time around.

Soon enough, we arrived at Magic Kingdom. I was finally HOME!

We go straight through Main Street USA (which is probably one of my favorite theme park areas of all time. How magnificent would it be to have the liveliness in every small town USA?), then we head straight through Cinderella's Castle and take Payton on her first ever Disney World ride, The Carosuel. Meanwhile, I had scheduled a fast pass for the Little Mermaid ride (which didn't even have a line, but I set up my fastpasses for that day to be oriented in favor of what Payton would want to or could ride.) and I had noticed that there was a very small crowd lined up to see Ariel. So we took Payton in to see her and to see her reaction. (Would she be accepting of her? Or would she freak out and want to run away?). Luckily, she loved her!
3084_600.jpg

She sat up next to her like a big girl and just gibber gabbered away! We went on to ride The Little Mermaid Ride, Dumbo, People Mover, Haunted Mansion, and pretty much every other little ride you would expect a 2 year old to ride. However, our big Fastpass was for Princess Fairytale Hall to see Anna and Elsa! I was suprised that we were able to walk right in and see them, I figured we would have had to wait a little while even in the Fastpass line.

Now, Payton wasn't so crazy about Anna. I'm not sure why, I think it was the fact that she was up moving around and came to Payton. Apparently Payton needed some space, she would talk to Anna from a distance. Amy was able to pick her up for a photo opportunity.
3548_600.jpg
3634_600.jpg

Next up we were able to meet Queen Elsa! Kind of the same scenario, but this time Payton was sing to Elsa (Let it Go! Let it Go!)
3981_600.jpg

Such wonderful CM's that play the characters! :D

By Mid - Afternoon, Amy and Payton had went back to the room for a nap and rest, however I stayed in the park and met up with Mom and Dad. Got a couple of rides in on Space Mountain, got a viewing of Hall of Presidents, and a couple of other attractions. Around 4-5pm, I decided to hit up the Mickey and Walt statue area and people watch. I'm sure glad I did! A man came up to me and asked me if I knew how to work an iPhone. I said sure, and then he requested that I take a video of him proposing to his girlfriend! I was pretty excited to say yes! I stood next to a Photographer that was taking pictures of them in front of the castle (I was pretending to take photos as well with his phone), and then he dropped down to one knee and popped the question. It was a pretty cool experience that I was happy to partake in!

4249_600.jpg
(Proposer in the Green, Proposee in the White dress)

Right afterwards, Amy and Payton came strolling up through the crowd and met back up with me. Just in time for the Magic Kingdom Street Celebration! And what a cool performance! This was the first time I was able to witness it and it was awesome! It was pretty special seeing the CM's and entertainers come up to my daughter and shake her hand, or blow kisses, or just even wave at her! She absolutely had a ball! :D
4544_600.jpg

We walked around a little more and got our spots for the Electrical Parade and Wishes. The Electrical Parade was nice, but Payton started to get a little ancy. However, this sweet little girl came to the rescue! Her and her mom stood next to us while we waited for Wishes to begin and was an absolute angel to Payton. She played with her and Payton loved her so much, she was giving her all kinds of hugs and was really talking to her! We will probably never see her or her mom again, however, I took a picture of her and Payton together that way we could always look back and tell Payton about her "Magic Kingdom Buddy".

4983_600.jpg

Wishes soon started, and at first Payton was a little skeptical about the loud booms. However, after her Papa (my dad) picked her up, she really began to enjoy "Boom Boom!"

It was absolutely the most magical and perfect ending to the most magical and perfect day! Our standard was already set and it was only Day 1!

Coming up next... DAY 2: EPCOT

Ok, so now on to my 2nd home... EPCOT! Our morning routine was pretty much the same everyday. Up by 7am, breakfast at Pop Century, and then head to the bus stops. Wednesday morning was a wet one, which really didn't matter because we were going to EPCOT. With an exception of Test Track, rain pretty much doesn't affect anything there. Anyways, It's always hard for me when someone asks me what my favorite Disney park is. I love Magic Kingdom and the magical feel you get when you are there... But I absolutely LOVE EPCOT! Depending on what mood you grab me at, you are sure to get either answer. So anyways, we arrive at EPCOT and head straight for my favorite ride (you'll probaly hear that several times throughout this TR), Spaceship Earth.

5765_600.jpg

Now, I don't know if it's the smell of the building, or the theme of traveling throughout mankinds history, or just the fact that Spaceship Earth's monstrosity of a sphere appeals to me in ways that One Direction appeals to a 12 year old girl, but I get chills everytime I get near the queue. We get on the ride, and at some point while loading, Payton must have hit the french language option, because throughout the entire attraction, the Judi Dench commentary was French. That was kind of a bummer, but my first ride certainly wouldn't have been our last, so I knew I had multiple opportunities to enjoy the ride in English, so no harm no foul.

6125_600.jpg

After Spaceship Earth, we were on our way! Now, Amy had mentioned that she wanted to go to Club Cool and try the different beverages, so we went there next and tried out all the flavors. Even the Beverly. Ugh... After Club Cool, we leisurely wondered throughout Future World. We enjoyed Living with the Land, Nemo, and any ride that Payton could enjoy. Amy isnt' a fan at all of bigger more intense ride, so I saved Test Track for later whenever she took Payton back for a nap. Soon enough, the World Showcase opened, and we went to eat lunch at Biergarten. However, I forget that Biergarten opens an hour later than World Showcase, so Amy mentioned about going ahead and riding Maelstrom a couple of times. She's a smart cookie! I mentioned to her that Saturday was going to be it's last day, so we needed to ride as much as possible. We ended up with two Maelstrom rides before we headed on to Biergarten. We probably waited 10 minutes total for both rides!

6744_600.jpg
6512_600.jpg

Ok, so about Biergarten. I LOOOOOVE Biergarten. In fact, I discovered my love for German food here. I kid you not folks, my Father and I planned a trip to Disney World just to eat Biergarten about 10 years ago. We are obsessed with the place. I was the first in line to put our name in, and after about 15 minutes we were called in.

6239_600.jpg
7051_600.jpg

I literally eat so much here that I darn near make my self sick. But it's so worth it! I could blabber on and on about schnitzels and sauerkraut, but I won't bore you.

We took our time around World Showcase enjoying the sights and just taking it easy. I told myself this Disney trip that I was going to not get in so much of a rush. We typically do 3 days at Disney and 2 at Universal, however with Payton, we did all 5 days at Disney, so I felt we had plenty of time to do what we needed/wanted. By mid afternoon, Amy decided to go back for a nap (and to get Payton one as well), so I stuck around and road Soarin', Test Track, and Spaceship Earth again. In fact, I did Spaceship Earth about 10 times again. LOL, I'm obsessed with that ride. This was also the first time I rode Test Track after the refurbishment. I was very pleased with the more futuristic look! Single rider line for Test track was only 10 minutes vs. the 60 minutes stand by line, and I try to do my best to communicate with the random strangers I am paired with. However, I forget in Disney World, not every speaks English, so of course as I sit down in our vehicle I tell the couple next to me "Hi, how are you?". Then they preceeded to look at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears. lol, lessons learned. My boss had texted me about checking out Captain EO... Which I have never done before. Apparently while he was growing up in the 80's it was big deal to him. I was born in '87 so it was a little before my time. LOL, regardless I snapped some photos of the building and watched it. Interesting to say the least... LOL
7815_600.jpg

By the time Amy and Payton got back, Amy wanted to get a couple of more rides in on Spaceship Earth, so we rode it two more times. Later, we met up with Mom, Dad, my sister, and her boyfriend and got in a group photo... Which suprisingly enough, turned out really well!

"I love Disney!!"

We waited around that night for Illuminations, which has always been one of my favorites. Again, Payton really enjoyed the "boom booms"!

We ended the night heading back to Pop Century and resting up for the next day! Also, I don't know if anyone else has an iPhone 6 or upgraded to iOS 8, but I kept up with the Health app the entire trip. Here were my stats for the EPCOT day:

You can definitely tell when we got to Disney World compared to a normal day at work/home. LOL. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to better myself each day though.

Next up: DAY 3 Hollywood Studios/EPCOT!

Following along! Great start! Love the pics!
Notice you're going to Disney in 8 days. I'm very jealous! You'd think after a week of Disney, i'd be satisfied, but I still find myself watching Spaceship Earth and COP ride thru's. I even watched Illuminations last night via DisneyCam. LOL... I don't know that' I'll ever recover!

We had reserved the 3rd day for Hollywood Studios, however, HS is typically not a full day park for us. So we planned on doing everything we wanted in HS, then head back over to EPCOT. When we get to the park, we head straight for Toy Story Mania. Line was only 30 minutes long, so we go ahead and queue.
9121_600.jpg

What a neat ride! This was our first time riding. Back in 2010, the wait was about 90 minutes, and we decided it wasn't going to be worth the wait. And while I wouldn't wait 90 minutes for TSM, it's definitely a neat ride. Payton enjoyed spinning around and pulling on the pull string to fire at the targets!

After TSM, I wanted to head over towards Wandering Oaken's Trading Post. Now, let me explain. Oaken is probably my favorite character in Frozen. I tend to like the non major characters in films, and Oaken fits the bill in Frozen. I hadn't researched much about the Trading Post, so I was pleasantly suprised to see a neat "Do you want to build a snowman" area! We walked right on and let Payton play in the "snow". She seemed to really enjoy it!

After wandering through Oakens, we met up with my family and went to ride the "Great Movie Ride". This is one of my wifes favorites.

10675_600.jpg

10952_600.jpg

Ride went well, and afterwards my sister had mentioned wanting to ride TOT and RNR. I happily agreed, so Amy and Payton hung out with Mom, and I went to ride with my sister, her boyfriend, and my dad.

11209_600.jpg
11512_600.jpg

11703_600.jpg

I am a super huge fan of the Twilight Zone. I've got every season of the original Rod Serling series, and I always watch the 4th of July and New Years Day marathons. So TOT holds a special place in my heart!

Payton was starting to get cranky, so Amy decided it was best to head back for some rest. Mom, Dad, Natalie, and Dylan went to the Sci-Fi Diner to eat lunch. While I'm a huge fan on the Sci Fi Diner, I had wanted to try out the 50's Prime Time cafe. There was no wait at the bar area, so I went ahead and took a seat. I absolutely loved the theme of the restaurant! And the food, and milkshake I had was good as well!

12207_600.jpg

12462_600.jpg

After lunch, I tried out the new Star Wars simulator, then took a couple of more rides on TOT and RNR. I decided that I had done everything that I could, so I decided to leave and catch the Ferry over to EPCOT.

Now, dummy me, I don't pay much attention to important details. I got off the Ferry at the 2nd stop (I can't remember which resort it was off the top of my head.), because the Ferry operator said it would be quicker to just walk over to EPCOT from there instead of staying on the Boat. So I decided to put on my headphones and take off. Typically when I put my headphones on, I get lost in the music and this would prove to be no different. I pass up the path to EPCOT and end up all the way at the end of the Boardwalk before I realized I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque (yes, that's a Bugs Bunny reference). So I back track and finally make it to EPCOT. Turns out my sister and her boyfriend are already there, so I decide to test the accuracy of my "Find Friends" app on my iPhone. Believe it or not, it took me right to them! They were right beside Spaceship Earth near Innovations. I meet up with them and they mention something about eating dinner. We seperate and go our own ways, becuase I wanted to try out Nine Dragons Chinese Restaurant. I'm sure glad I did! I got the Chicken Stir Fry with Ginger sauce and it was yummy! And it seemed to not go away! The before and after picture are similar, IMO.. and I had PLENTY to eat!

12704_600.jpg
13053_600.jpg

13178_600.jpg

Ok, so maybe they don't look identical, but I left more than I usually would! After Nine Dragons, I meet up with Amy and Payton for a couple of rides on Spaceship Earth. After SE, we head to "The Seas w/ Nemo and Friends" to ride Nemo. We also walked around the aquarium which Payton really enjoyed!

It was almost time for Illuminations, so we head out to find a spot. We meet up with Mom, Dad, Natalie, and Dylan and watch the show!

This picture pretty much sums up our day at Animal Kingdom. We slept in a little during Day 4, mainly because he had went at it so hard the first 3 days. Today we were going to take it a little easier and chill out. By today, the sun had come completely out and it was quite a bit warmer than it had been the last 3 days. We get to Animal Kingdom, and right off the bat Payton is not in a good mood. I'm not sure if it's the fact we really couldn't get any shade, or if it was a hotter than she cared for it being, but either way she was not happy. We head towards Kilimanjaro Safari for our 11am fastpass. We were about 20 minutes early, so we tried to kill some time by heading for the train that takes you around the park. The whole way, Payton whined and moaned and really just wasn't having any of it. We get off the train, and immediately Amy decides that she's just going to take Payton back. They're both hot, and other than Kilimanjaro, there wasn't really anything for them to do. So I ditched on our Kilimanjaro Safari FP, and went towards Dinosaur and got a ride in. Before I continue, here are a few photos of the morning:

14885_600.jpg
15247_600.jpg

15510_600.jpg

After Dinosaur, my Fast Pass for Expedition Everest went into effect, so I went to get a ride on it. I absolutely love EE. So much thrill packed into one ride! After EE, I decide I'm probably going to head out. My first intention was to go to EPCOT and try some Mexican, but I got lazy and settled for Rainforest Cafe on the way out.

15788_600.jpg

After lunch, I went back to the hotel room and took an afternoon nap. After we all got our naps out, we decided to hit up Downtown Disney since we missed out our first night there. Typically we like to do Downtown Disney on travel day since we don't have a ticket to do anything else, but this trip was the lone exception. We went through the shops (I loved the art shop!) and then went to eat supper at Planet Hollywood.

15985_600.jpg
16178_600.jpg

16536_600.jpg

We ended the night with more shopping and then went back to relax in our hotel room.

Sorry this day wasn't more exciting, but it is what it is. And unfortunately, the next day would be our last day! So stay tuned to the conclusion of my trip report! Tomorrow is day 5... at Magic Kingdom!

Enjoying your report - sorry Animal Kingdom didn't go well, but you sure did a lot your first 3 days. Payton is adorable (even when she's not happy, in her too cute sun glasses).

The dreaded last day had arrived, however we were going to make the best of it. We ate breakfast in the Pop Century cafeteria one last time and then boarded the bus for the Magic Kingdom. Amy had already decided that her and Payton would probably spend a half day here and then go back to the hotel to get stuff packed and ready for tomorrow, so I went ahead and booked some fastpasses for rides that she wouldn't ride.

First off, we had already seen Anna and Elsa earlier in the week, but for folks wondering what the line was to see them... Well here you go:

16888_600.jpg

If you plan on seeing Anna and Elsa... Make sure you use FP+. We were able to walk right in and see them on Tuesday thanks to the FP+ system!

Anyways, Amy and Payton rode the Carosuel one last time, and then we went over to ride Dumbo.

17091_600.jpg

Payton and Amy really enjoyed riding Dumbo, so it was nice to see them ride together. After we got off Dumbo, we took Payton back through the Queue to play in the "Dumbo Circus Tent". She had an absolute ball playing with everything and interacting with all the children.

17361_600.jpg
17442_600.jpg

After Dumbo, we decided to hit up Haunted Mansion one last time. Payton really enjoys the ride, and doesn't at all seemed phased in the room where the person hangs and the pictures stretch. She's not afraid of the dark, so I suppose that helps alot.

17826_600.jpg
18097_600.jpg

18379_600.jpg

After Haunted Manson, Amy decided to head on back. So we got a shot in front of the Magic Kingdom which he hadn't done yet. This will probably serve as our official family portrait for the trip. (Other than the Epcot photo, which was the entire family).

18656_600.jpg

Soon after Amy and Payton went back to the hotel, my FP+ for Big Thunder Rail Road started, so I went ahead and rode it. Probably the first ride on BTM in 10+
years, and it was fun! Another ride I probably hadn't rode in 10 years was Splash Mountain, which I also had a FastPass for. I forgot how cute that ride actually is. Finally, my last Fastpass was for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. And I'm sure glad it was! The Standby line had grown to 90 minutes by the time I got there! Fortunately, I only waited 5 minutes in the Fastpass line, and while the ride was defintely fun and "cute" per say... There is no way I'd wait 90 minutes to ride it.

In between fast passes, I watched the Hall of Presidents, which is something I've always enjoyed. I really enjoy waiting in the lobby and looking at all the memorabilia.

18841_600.jpg
19041_600.jpg

Finally around 5pm, I decided that it was best that I went back to eat supper with Amy and Payton and to get all my stuff packed up so we could head out early. But before I could leave, I had to get one more ride on the Carosuel of Progress (which I had already ridden twice at this point in the day). I tried to pay close attention to detail this time, especially to the last scene. I've always wondered where the baby/family photos come from? I'm assuming Cast Members, but that there might be a neat story behind them? Probably not, but it's neat to think about. LOL

19959_600.jpg
19450_600.jpg

19661_600.jpg

After COP, I went back down Main Street USA to take plenty of photos, and then went on my way out of the park.

Well, that completes my Trip Report. We got up the next morning and took the Magical Express back to the Airport for our flight back to Nashville. Without a doubt, one of the best vacations we've ever taken. When we told people we were taking Payton to Disney World, we constantly got weird looks. "She's too young", "She'll never remember", etc... And she very well might not. But I'll remember the memories and I took just under 1000 photos to document the occasion. In fact, taking Payton brought a whole new aspect to my view of Disney World. I loved the place before, but my love has grown for it even more just by being able to watch my baby enjoy herself and see everything! In fact, I'm going to try to budget where we can do a Disney trip every 2 years or so. I'm going to try to throw in Disneyland and a Disney Cruise in there as well.

Overall, we had an absolute wonderful week, and I appreciate those who followed this Trip Report! Thanks for reading! :D
