Trip Report (COMPLETED) Are You Being Serious Right Now? - January Girls Trip

EDITED 07.07.17 - Photobucket has updated their policies so my photos aren't displaying. I'll try to switch them all over to Flickr eventually!

Hey, friends! Kristi here. You might have seen my report from last fall (catch up here, if you want)

I didn't waste any time getting back to my happy place, as you can see. Last summer, I was reading @abzoo's report from when she went with her college friends, and I just decided to pitch it to my own college friends. I expected them to all be like "oh that would awesome, but [insert adult life excuse here]." Oddly enough, they all sounded like they wanted to make it work!

We ended up having one of the five completely back out for financial and family reasons, and another cut her time down to just two days because her baby is still breast feeding. Totally understandable reasons, I'm just glad three of us were still in! So without any more delay, here we are:

Cast: L, M, and me (going to use their initials, in case they don't want their names floating around)
When: January 14-17 (MLK weekend)
Where: Booked Coronado Springs, but we got an upgrade! You'll have to wait to find out where!
ADRs: Crystal Palace, Spice Road Table

I'm excited to share this report! Hopefully I won't miss anything because my photos are all out of order. They're half from my camera, some phone shots and a few photo pass shots. It's overwhelming! I just need to get this one done before I forget stuff. Plus I'm leaving for my next trip in 3 days, and I'll start getting experiences mixed up!

Can you tell I'm not letting my annual pass go to waste? :D

I think this will be the last post. I should be able to fit the rest of the pictures in! I'm getting ready to go to bed and when I wake up we'll be leaving for Disney World again! I can't wait!!! But back to the past...

After E left, we all decided to spend some alone time doing whatever we wanted. I think we all just needed to decompress a little, especially since M, L and I had a long drive home together the next day. I am social, but I'm still an introvert. I need a lot of time where I am not interacting with other humans, so this was my "me time." I don't remember what L did, but I think she hung out in the room. I sat on the balcony with tea and read my book for a while. M went to Magic Kingdom to explore a bit. She met Peter Pan and agreed with me that meeting solo was super awkward! L eventually took off to MK as well, and I think she got stuck waiting for the monorail because it was down.

My favorite way to chill

M's awkward Peter Pan meet

L got a treat and I guess a photo pass photographer thought she'd like a picture! I've never seen them do that, but it's cute :)

When I got the itch to get out again, I decided to go to Hollywood Studios to shop. I thought I might ride some, but I didn't. I bought my husband some gifts and got Startbucks before heading back out of the park. I walked the path to Epcot where I was going to meet back up with the girls for dinner and enjoyed a good hour of walking. I took my time and walked the long way around the Boardwalk. It was PERFECT.

I met up with M shortly after getting to World Showcase. She and L had come over together, but L split off to ride Mission Space. So me and M walked around World Showcase and I got a beer at Block and Hans. I think it was the Bell's Oberon. Whatever it was, was good!

We watched the sun go down as we made our way back around to Canada.

I think we doubled back a couple of times trying to find L, but we eventually all got back together and just wandered for a while.

Don't know when I took this.

I had to try a Grey Goose slush finally. It was good, but SO not worth the money.

Next was our dinner at Spice Road, where I was hoping we'd have a window seat to watch Illuminations. We did not get lucky, so that was disappointing. I was overall pretty disappointed in this meal. The food wasn't as good as I thought it would be, and the servers all seemed kind of bored. Our server wasn't unfriendly, but he was just kind of there. I never regret trying things though, so I'm glad we went.

I got lamb sliders and hummus fries

After dinner we walked around some more and took some pictures in France. I had bought that jacket in Mexico earlier when I was alone because it was getting cold. I'd been looking for a new jacket all week and I didn't like any of the Disney ones. I finally find something I like and it's not even branded :hilarious:

I'm glad I bought it. I wear it a lot, in fact I'm wearing it right now!

Ugh! Bye Epcot!!! So sad.

I also forgot to mention that I'd bought some Japanese candy that morning when E was still there. I bought sooooo much and I just finished it yesterday. Time to restock! haha

Ok so after we walked around the park was thinning out and we didn't have trouble catching the monorail back. We packed up and got ready to hit the road the next morning. M had to get up really early and do some stuff for work, and I got up early to go over to MK and buy souvenirs. It was really just an excuse to ride the carousel like I did on my last trip. I watch the opening show, rode the carousel on the same horse as last time and bought some stuff at the Emporium. Of course I cried on the way out and stared down Main Street before finally heading out. At the time I thought it would be my last time for at least a year and a half. Glad that wasn't the case!

One last selfie.

I went back to the room and we hit the road! Not much else to tell I suppose. It was such a great trip, and I will NEVER forget it. Especially with that upgrade (still can't believe it). I highly recommend trying to go with friends if you can all manage it. It's such a fun thing to experience together, and even people who need alone time (me) can make it work as long as you communicate kindly and effectively. We all know each other so well that we were able to read each other's moods and know when to back off and give each other space. I was surprised at how few issues we had!

I hope y'all enjoyed this report! I feel like it was short, but hopefully it was entertaining :inlove:

See ya real soon!

I enjoyed your trip report, what luck to get upgraded to the GF!
So envious you have friends that like WDW and want to go with you. None of my friends get why it is my happy place so never want to go with me.

Oh that's a bummer! I do have a lot of friends who don't get it too :/ Luckily these girls get it.

Love your outfits at the MK!
Thank you! I wore my Donald outfit again on my trip last week :)

Wonderful report!! Loved your Disneybounding, and that upgrade was awesome!
Thanks! Yes, still can't believe it. I just returned from Pop and hated it :( The Grand spoiled me!

Such a fun report to read-so jealous about your girls trip! I would love to share Disney with my girlfriends!
Thanks for following along! It was a fun trip to put together. If you ever have the chance, definitely plan a friend trip :)

Awesome trip report!! Glad you had fun.

Loved your TR! I hope the Jawas are around for my trip in November. As you can see by my profile pic I am a huge SW's nerd. I can't wait to see the Launch Bay. I got my Rey die cast doll at 6am the day Disney released them at our local Disney store. Can't wait to read your next TR.

OMG! What an amazing upgrade! Grand Floridian is my dream resort. Love that you got to share it with your friends. My friends don't really get my Disney obsession, but luckily my sister does and we really enjoyed our sister's only trip last month. Great report. It was nice that you were able to balance your time together with time for yourselves. Can't wait to read about your next trip. I'm sure you're having a blast :)!

Wow, this looks amazing! My friends and I are also doing a girls trip in late January of 2017. Any suggestions or tips??
Oh yay!!! The biggest tip I have is to communicate ahead of time about whether you want to stay together the whole time or have some alone time. We knew before we went that we weren't going to try to stay together the whole time because we all like different things. We spent like 80% of the trip together, but the time we had on our own was just as fun! Also, be flexible. Someone may start feeling bad or suddenly have the urge to pee right as you're trying to make it to your fast pass...it happens. If you make up your mind to be fine with plan changes, you'll still have a great time :) I hope you have an AMAZING trip!

I loved your trip report!! I would love to go with some of my girlfriends... maybe one day!!
Thanks for reading! I hope you get to go with friends sometime :) It's a great experience.

Just catched up! Great report! Love pictures! Thanks for sharing and off course following along!
