Trip Report COMPLETED - After 2 1/2 years we finally made it back to WDW

So as the title suggests we finally got back to WDW.
It was every bit as magical as I expected and was much needed after years away due to Covid.
We had such a great time. I’m not going to lie it was a different experience which I’ll explain more of but this holiday was so needed.
I’ve thought long and hard about a TR as the honest truth is I kept no notes as I just wanted to live in the moment but I’ll share with you some of it the best I can.

So let’s rewind slightly here. We already have a trip booked for Sept this year but in early November the US borders opened for us UK folk and myself and Chris watched live on u tube as the Virgin and British airways planes took off together and we both got a bit emotional. After take off we both looked at each other and the words came out of my mouth “I don’t think I can wait till Sept , if Covid has taught us anything it’s to do what you want. Can we book another trip for March?” Without hesitation Chris said yes - he is a keeper! And so the planning started. I checked out various bits of data and found the lowest weeks in terms of spring break crowds, I prepared myself for a busy trip knowing full well that there is a lot of pent up demand and just considered myself lucky to finally be able to plan a trip.

We decided to plan 10 days from 26th Feb. Disney was so expensive that we decided as this was an additional trip we would book elsewhere and settled on Sheraton Vistana Resort as it was close to Disney with no resort fees or parking costs. Our trip was still just over £4000 but money well spent in my books (and as we’ve been stuck at home for 2 1/2 years we’ve hardly spent anything!)

I’ll get into more of the detail over the next few days and I’ll try to get some pictures posted rather than it being text heavy but for now I’m back………. Hello again Disney friends

Our ride was eventful. At one point we stopped and were being blown all over the place. That thing is scary when it’s windy!

I was glad when we finally arrived here.

We headed towards TSMM but had to stop here for a photo given I did have this top on!

I won again - didn’t take a picture as Chris didn’t want reminding.

A quick walk around Batu.

We got one of those video photos here which we agreed was quite good but with a shadow over the millennium Falcon it wasn’t as good as we would have liked.

I think we headed to Frozen where the wait time was 40 mins - we waited 25.
I had missed this ride as we had last ridden in March 2019 so it had been well overdue.

Of course I had to protect Chris from the water - I got soaked.

Next stop try to get onto Remi - the queue was an hour but I think it was longer.

At this point I thought we were nearly there but there was still a way o go.
The paid LL had priority and basically they just continued ans only 1 group at a time was let through after they had all gone through. They didn’t have to wait at all!

Our verdict - fun but not worth the queuing time and i wouldn’t pay for it!

With that our day at Epcot came to an end and we headed home to sleep.

Sunday 6th March

For some reason that I can’t remember now we moved our reservation from AK to Epcot last night so it would be another Epcot day.

Next stop butterflies! We had tried last night but I think maybe they closed at 5pm so we were taking no chances today.

We headed on TT single rider with literally no queue so we went round twice.
We’ve all seen the ride photos loads of times so I won’t bore you!

The. Onto MS green.
I did the orange version once and literally had to sit on a bench for an hour so I am never doing that again. Green will do!

For the first time Chris actually beat me!
But look how close it was.

It was then time for TOT.
I literally can’t remember the last time I did this. Chris was convinced I wouldn’t stick it out with h9m but I did.

Tripod selfie to remeber the occasion.
I actually really enjoyed it but I just have to feel right to get on it and we hadn’t eaten all day so that could have helped and i think it was now about 3pm

We took a video of the ovassion which has made us chuckle watching it back.

Now I’ve seen this shop before but I am sure it’s been done up inside?
We’ve never got ice cream here - I know I’m failing!

After just eating I didn’t want ice cream but milkshake is kind of like ice cream and I really fancied one so we went to see what they had.
This was delicious!

Definitely going there again!
We sat down on the boardwalk and enjoyed the sun and our milkshake.

We detoured to the shops and then headed back home after another fun filled day

I had finally done TOT again after years of not doing it. Will I do it again? Probably as long as it’s not after food but I won’t admit to Chris that I enjoyed it!
It was quite an achievement for me but after waiting so long to travel I just didn’t want the opportunity to slip by.

Next up our last full day in the park - and it’s obviously going to be spent in MK

I'm so glad Chris finally beat you, even not by much, LOL. It gives me hope that I can finally beat Roger, grrr, he's just too fast for me to beat! I feel the same way about the sky liner. I know everyone loves it but it's not for me. I am afraid of heights, afraid of getting stuck on it, and for the same reason you were not happy, the wind can cause it to swing too much. No thank you!
The F&G pics were lovely. We never made it to the butterfly house, but it looks beautiful.
It's funny but I am afraid of heights but I love TOT! Proud of you for giving it a go:)

He was so happy - I told him I let him win but I didn’t really!
And it wasn’t even that windy out but stuck high above the road swinging was a bit scary.
If you ever make it over for F&G make sure to check the butterfly house out. We do see a few on our garden but never that many all in one place.
And thanks re TOT it was actually quite fun.

This morning we decided to spend a few hours at Typhoon lagoon just to chill out.

We found a lounger and just sat for 2 hours in the Florida sun.
We were going to head onto the lazy river but we were both just content sitting doing nothing and chatting together.
Haven't been to Typhoon Lagoon for maybe 5-6 years. What I noticed from your photo of the lazy river, was that the tubes looked a bit different than what I remember. Did they update those with arm handles, etc? They look comfy!

P.S.: I'm really enjoying all your gorgeous F&G photos.

We said the exact same things about the tubes. Yes they did have handles.
We wish we had got off our loungers now for a circuit around the lazy river but will just leave on our list for September now.

Glad you like the photos :D

Another fantastic day in which you accomplished so much!!! I'm glad you did TOT and enjoyed it after all these years. I can tell from reading this TR how much you missed WDW. 🥰

I was really surprised I didn’t take the cheat elevator for TOT (probably not as surprised as Chris was) and I really did miss WDW. For me it was a long time to be away.
