I would like to know from everyone what their preferred version of ride is of rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, The Little Mermaid ride, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Jungle Cruise, Tower of terror, and any other rides that may be similar between Disney world and Disneyland. Let the debate begin!

With Disneyland, you have the history. So while the Jungle Cruise may be longer and have a temple scene at WDW, Walt Disney never rode or walked through it. The WDW Haunted Mansion may have extra scenes at the beginning of the ride, but the house was in place at Disneyland when Walt was still alive. The Swiss Family Treehouse may blow the Tarzan Treehouse away, but Walt never climbed it. It makes a huge difference.

To an extent, while the theming is different, Indiana Jones at Disneyland and Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom have the same mentality. Similar ride track. The dinosaurs can creep you out. Now, the better theming is Indy, and the better storyline and familiarity. But still.

Pirates - Disneyland has the original and the longer one. If there is one ride that can be longer it is this one
Splash - I thought Disneyland's version was too rushed. I noticed that right away. Give me WDW's version
Tower of Terror - You drop more times, or it felt like you did, with the WDW version
Small World - One of Walt's last gifts to this world, and he unveiled it shortly before his death in 1966 as Disneyland. So that version has that going for it, plus I actually liked the characters in there.
Peter Pan - The same
Mr. Toad - I thought WDW's version seemed longer when it was there
Winnie - WDW
Space - I thought the same
Thunder - I thought it was the same more or less
Jungle Cruise - Similar
Haunted Mansion - Pretty equal

Some of them I feel are more or less the same. Those I don't:
Pirates- Disneyland, longer and (probably because it's longer) has more atmosphere. Also WDW has a ceiling vent in the middle of the sky I always notice!
Splash- WDW
Tower of Terror- WDW, since it's got the part were the elevator moves forward, and the up ad downs are more unpredictable
Space- Disneyland, I find the WDW one much to bumpy
Thunder- Disneyland, again the WDW I find much to bumpy, and it throws me round all over the place! I couldn't enjoy the ride as I was to busy trying to pull my head off the shoulder of the person next to me!

Pirates-DL. Longer, better upkeep.
Mansion-WDW. Overall better
Splash-tie. I like the speed of DL and the extra animatronics, but WDW has a better pace and is more cohesive.
Thunder-DL. Especially better after the refurb.
Pooh-tie. I like both the same.
Pan-DL. I'm sure it'll be even better after its refurb.
Tower-WDW. Can't beat it.
Mermaid-WDW. Better queue.
Small World-DL. Longer, better upkeep
Buzz-DL. Overall cleaner, and you can actually hold the guns.
Space-DL. Much more comfortable ride, better vehicles, better effects, and a great soundtrack.
Soarin'-DL. I like its queue better.
Midway Mania-tie.
Jungle Cruise-WDW. The added indoor scene bumps this one up.

On Tower of Terror, the WDW is significantly different. The ride system is totally different in that the WDW version is able to travel forward "through" the 5th dimension. The DL version is a much cheaper version of the ride and clearly inferior.

I would argue many attractions are better at Disneyland.

Haunted Mansion. In Disneyland you enter the front door, it makes sense. In DW, where are we entering? The basement bilco at the side of the house?

California Screamin' is better than Rockin Rollercoaster. Both are launch coasters, but California Screamin' is 2 minutes 36 seconds, where Rockin Rollercoaster is 82 seconds.

Radiator Springs Racers is better than Test Track - hands down. Undebatable.

Space Mountain is better at Disneyland. As nice as the original is at DW, updated track wins.

Thunder Mountain is better at Disneyland. New track, smoother.

Grizzly River Run at Disneyland is light years better than Kali River Rapids.

Soarin' is better at Disneyland than Epcot, or at least the attraction seemed to be in better shape, and you are in California, but we'll see what the refub brings.

Indiana Jones is better than Dinosaur. Maybe just my opinion.

Pirates is better at Disneyland. But that has been said.

Autopia is better at Disneyland, most don't care, but my girls do.

Disneyland still has Mickey's House.

Train - Disneyland is better, maybe it is the additional scenery.

Monorail - Technically not a ride, but better at Disneyland.

My list is almost the same as yours, but I would give Small World, Mad Tea Party and Jungle Cruise to WDW.

I like that you can spin the teacups at WDW faster, I like the temple scene and prefer the queue loop at WDW's Jungle Cruise and while the exterior of Small World is nicer at DL and they do the great holiday overlay l like the ride itself at WDW better (room layout, length, design of finale).

No doubt about it, Disneyland has a FAR superior version of Pirates. It's crazy how different they are, and Pirates is one of my favorite rides. In Disneyland you have the Bayou and the indoor restaurant (similar to the Mexico restaurant and ride) and their version is much longer. Hands down, the better version.

I like Haunted Mansion at DL, but prefer it to WDW- maybe because it's what I grew up with.

Everyone who typically spends time at WDW should definitely find the time/save the money and go out and experience DL. I thought it would be just a smaller version of WDW with less to do. Wow, I was so wrong!

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
I'm only listing the ones I've done at both parks or from the view outside of the attraction.

Astro Orbiter - Disney World
Thunder Mountain - Disney World
Captain EO - Disneyland (I really like that outdoor pre-show atmosphere for some reason. Cozy!)
It's a Small World - Disney World
Pirates of the Caribbean - Disneyland
Space Mountain - Disneyland
Winnie the Pooh - Disney World
Enchanted Tiki Room - Disneyland (It feels like it should be there. It just feels boring in WDW for some reason)
Little Mermaid Under Sea Adventure - Disney World

Yes
Monorail - Technically not a ride, but better at Disneyland.
Ehh... I don't really like the look of the Mark VII monorail especially when compared to the iconic Mark IV/V/VI look.

Soarin' has a better looking building in California.

Space Mountain at DL may have onboard audio, but I like the actual ride in WDW better. However, both WDW and DL's SM's pale in comparison to Space Mountain: Mission 2 in Paris.

ToT in WDW is without debate better than the versions in Cali and Paris.

the only shared WDW attractions which I think are superior are ToT, Space, Peter Pan, Mermaid (queue) and maybe Splash.

although the more i think about it the more i actually think i like the physical WDW design of HM, even though it isn't the original.

But Space Mountain: Mission 2 isn't as good as the original Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon. I hope the rumors are true and it is reverting back to the original version. If not, it's ok, but I do prefer it.

WDW has the best Tower ride, but over all the story, design and execution of the attraction in Tokyo DisneySea is the most impressive.

One part of both parks that they have in common that has been left out so far is Main Street USA. Hands down winner for me is DL. Arcade, Cinema, Walt's apartment!
Along that same vein- Fantasmic- much, much better at Disneyland...I mean, they have a full-size sailing ship and it's on a realistic looking river.
Castle projection show/fireworks/evening extravaganza- WDW due to size and scope. But the overall winner I've seen is DLP. That is truly amazing.
Tiki Room- DL because of the pre-show and Dole whips right outside.
Railroad- DL due to the diorama
There's probably a few more that have been overlooked...

Space at WDW, but only for the leg room--DH is 6'4" and DL side-by-side seating gave him terrible bruises
Soarin' line at DL is more vintage looking with the WWII type hanger, but I like the theme at WDW equally well- tie
World of Color and Fantasmic at DL are better than Fantasmic at WDW
Love the projection show at IASW at DL

Sadly DLR somewhat ruined MK for me. IMO, DLR is much, much better than the MK in WDW. I think WDW beats DLR though on EPCOT and AK. Overall there is more to do in WDW but, there is so much history and so many unique things about DLR. I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and could have just spent hours looking at the old pictures and old park toys in the lobby. I really enjoyed the history part of DLR but, I am also an old, boring and really enjoy traditions.

I, like others, believe that the WDW versions of Splash Mountain and Pooh are the superior versions. DL's Pooh is pretty bad, and while it's Splash Mountain isn't bad, it's pretty rushed. Also, the WDW vultures look cooler than the DL vultures, because the WDW vultures wear top hats and tuxedos.

As for Pirates, I have yet to watch the DL version on YouTube, and I like the WDW version, so if it's really as much better as people say it is, it must REALLY be good.

YouTube? Have you ever been to Disneyland?
