Comcast/Dreamworks Merger and How it effects Marvel?

Universal has actually come out and said they have no inention of releasing their rights.

Never is a very long time.

Would Uni release ALL the characters? No, probably not. Could they conceivably approach Disney with a deal for SOME characters in exchange for some sort of concession? Quite possibly, though I don't expect this to happen anytime soon.

And nowhere did I use the word never. Just replying with what I had seen stated.....

I didn't say that you did. I was just trying to make the point that companies SAY a lot of things. WDAS said that there were no plans for a Frozen sequel a week before announcing a Frozen sequel.

Yes, companies say plenty. What's your point? Mine was that Comcast buying DWA had nothing to do with TWDC purchasing the Marvel rights because right now they're not for sale. Because like Frozen 2, they're a guaranteed money-maker for Universal.

You also don't throw out an old pair of shoes until you have at least one new pair. Now, you might keep the old pair for a while, but eventually, you'll stop wearing them.

Universal has no intention of releasing those rights any time soon. They've already rethemed one ride, and can do more in the future. As long as TWDC keeps putting out movies, USF will keep advertising they're the only Florida park where you can find those characters.

We'll see, I guess. After all, it's not like I've been proven right in the past when people swore up and down that we'd never see Big Hero 6 characters doing meet and greets when the movie came out....

Or Guardians of the Galaxy taking over the ToT.....

There is a much bigger chance of Toon Lagoon getting replaced/redone at Islands of Adventure. Potentially using a mixture of Dreamworks and Illumination animated characters. There already is a rumour that Secret Life of Pets might be used to replace the Toon Lagoon theatre.

BUT, many other theme parks have licensed Dreamworks characters, particularly Madagascar including some Merlin parks. Of course several Universal parks have Shrek but Merlin also has a Shrek/Dreamworks walkthrough experiance in London. So there could be many issues with the Dreamworks characters going into Universal parks anyway.

I have not made any firm prediction one way or another regarding GOTG in TOT. I HOPE it doesn't happen, but that's a different kettle of fish entirely.

Now, I will make THIS prediction- IF WDAS makes another film based on Marvel characters (and they might, given that Big Hero 6 was very successful), then I guarantee those characters will be used in WDW in some fashion.

Disney profits from IOA's existance and its marvel features... and visa versa.

anyway, i think what would be really cool is if UNI opened up a new park now for Madagascar, that would rival Animal Kingdom. it would be obviously madagascar themed with a few attractions like a typical 4-D show, perhaps a coaster, and then a safari/zoo
