Combining reservations / Room only / Package ticket confusion

Hi all. Looking forward to another wonderful trip to Fort Wilderness campground in February!

This is my first time taking care of the reservations - usually another family member does, and I didnt have to worry about anything, but ive got some questions. Due to the way the reservation system works, it is extremely difficult to book Fort Wilderness campsites in one sequential booking. I had to wait for days to open up, and book the sites as they became available, and then combine the different reservations under one booking. No problems there!

Here is what we have

1. A reservation for 1 night + tickets for 3 days (as a package)
2. A reservation for 5 nights "room only"

The issue I have is that the tickets are attached to that first single night as a "package", so they are only valid for the subsequent 3 days. We like to go one day, rest and chill, go another day, rest, etc. Unfortunately, because the package is booked at the beginning of the stay, it forces us to do park days without rest days.

I'm trying to find a solution that will allow us to use the park tickets over the 6 nights / 7 days as we wish.

Booking tickets separately is a no-go because they are non refundable, non changeable if not part of a package.

I thought about changing the package to 2 days only and adding a day while we are there if we want a third day - not sure how much more $$ they are if we go this way. Every phone call to Disney is 1+ hour, so I thought the experts here might have some suggestions for us!

Did you book this before or after October 16? That will make a big difference.

You'll either have tickets that expire 14 days from first use or have a valid use period of 5 days.

I am pretty sure you would still have the 14 days to use the tickets with the package. Unless they have changed it. Tickets expire 14 days after the first day you use them.
Edit- what Disney Joe said. I take it they did change it.

hi. I just booked this res 3 days ago. The agent combining the reservations on the phone made it sound like it was 4 days to use the tickets, which included the arrival date, which is not feasible as check in is at 3pm - so practically 3 days. I will give them another call to clarify. I probably mis-heard the date - so it's 5 days?

For example, If you were to book a 5 park-day package & 4 nights, you'd get 5 days + 5 extra days after your last disney resort night?

A 3 day ticket must be used within 5 days of the ticket start date (if the package is 5 days or less.

If the package was 6 days or more, your 3 ticket days could be used anytime during the package length.

You don't need to wait until 3pm to check in, if you arrive at 7am you can check in then, your room just may not be ready.

I went to the Disney World website and tried booking a 3-day ticket starting 8 Nov. This is what it told me:

"Your tickets are valid for admission to multiple theme parks on any 3 days from Nov 8, 2018 through Nov 12, 2018. Tickets do not have to be used on consecutive dates."

Correct. Any 3 days within the valid use period of 5 days.

FYI - if you bump your 3 day ticket to a 4 day ticket you will have a 7-day valid use period to use those 4 days
I see. That’s too many park days for my vacation style. We’re more likely to bump it down to 2 days or cancel the package altogether and make it room only and only buy 1 day tickets and maybe check out universal on another day. In all the years I’ve gone to Florida, we’ve never gone anywhere else than Disney parks. Their ticket policy to rush us in the park is not really vacation friendly. Id book more days in the parks if I could spread them through my stay.

You're hurting yourself by bumping down the number of days or removing the package.

For example, if your entire 7 days was a package, and you had a 2 or 3 day ticket, you could use those 2 or 3 days at any time during the length of the package stay like you could before.

If you got rid of the package and only bought 1 day tickets, you would be paying more money than you needed to on tickets.

You could also change your park ticket to a flexible date ticket and still have the 14 day expiration from first use, but that has a premium cost, but may be worth looking into.

That package would be ideal. I have all the dates booked, but because of the res system, the dates could only be booked as rooms only and combined, not as a continual package. I will try to have it converted and take the 3 days.
