Columbus Day Weekend

To All-
I was at WDW Columbus Day weekend in 2001. The MK was packed on Columbus day. I am again considering a trip that would place me at WDW Columbus Day weekend 2006. Has anyone had any experience with the Columbus Day weekend crowd the past two years? I was there last year at the end of October, and things seemed busier than I'd seen since 06/00.

Thanks!
Dave

We visited WDW on Columbus Day weekend 2003. We arrived on that Sunday. Things were extremely crowded. Over an hour line just to check in. As it was our first family Disney vacation. We went straight to the MK. It was very, very crowded. All the FP's gone for Jungle Cruise by 3 in the afternoon. Long lines for just about everything. We waited about 40 minutes for Small World.

The next day we went to Studios and it was very very crowded. With a young child, we were interested in Playhouse Disney and the Little Mermaid. Huge lines for both of those.

As the week went on, the crowds thinned and I would liken it to the crowds we experienced the end of October - early November the next year.

I'd probably go back over Columbus Day again, but plan it a little differently. Enjoy your trip.

I went this past year and it wasn't terrible, we managed just fine. We also did the Halloween party too while we were there and it was a blast. I've also noticed that any night there is a halloween party, MK seems to be less crowded during the day because people who don't have the park hopper option will not choose that park because it closes at 6p and then they can't go anywhere else.

I also went this past year and was there Thursday to Sunday and did not think it was that bad. I also attended the MNSSHP and it was awesome! The crowds were light because it was early in the month for Halloween and I'm planning another trip this year! Keep in mind that the Food & Wine Festival also takes place during that weekend so stay away from Epcot on Friday night and Saturday! It was a mob scene and I kept getting run over by strollers! I'm so happy my son is 7 now....

Thanks for the help!

Thanks to all for replying! We did WDW last year 10/21-10/31 and liked MNSSHP so much that we were able (somehow) to get passes for 10/29 and saw it a second time!

Thanks!
Dave

Have a great trip! Don't waste your time on Everest. It's highly overrated.
