be passionate

For the regular internship no but be very passionate about what area or job you want in your interview the more likely you will get it. In my interview I told them how cool it would be to work in a tree for 5 month and thats what i got its tough to be a bug! For Advance interships you get to pick exactly what you want but you have to do the regular college program first. Which the recruiters only recruit for the regular program for foods, attractions, lifeguards, custodial, front desk and merchandise so in your interview they will ask wich is your top three choices and be passinate about that one thing you want to do cause there is only so many spots in each area!

I hope this Helps!

The roommate issue is another concern I would have. I'm a quiet type of guy that keeps to myself in conversations and prefers an early bedtime (boy I sound boring, lol). I know you have the option of how many roommates you prefer to have, but having a roommate(s) that can be disruptive, thieves, or decide to bring a party in the room would annoy me.

Like what was said above, if you have a strong desire to work for the CP, then go right ahead. It's certainly an experience.

I had 6 roommates and we always had our door open as we walked back and fourth from one apartment to another. We have our tv, dvd, playstation and xbox in plain view with no problems of people stealing it. Now about the parties, we lived next to an apartment that liked to party. There were many late nights and hardly any sleep. But overall the noise usually stopped around 1am, thats when security would come around and make sure it was quite.

I loved my CP to an extent. I had a lot of roommate issues that led to all of my roommates but 1 leaving early, including me. I had a 3 bedroom, but only 5 of us in there because it was the wheelchair accessible room. 3 of us got along fabulously. The 4th was part of the group but was 29 so she kinda got left out a lot. And the 5th was so horrible that she moved out and was eventually terminated due to her bad attitude. Basically it came down to a 1 month battle with Price Management because they tried to moved another girl in a wheelchair into our room, when we already had one (FYI only one room of the three is wheelchair accessible and two wheelchairs cannot fit in the room). And as nice as Christine Price comes off, she was very rude to all of us.

But that being said, I wish I had never left. Since I graduated while I was on my CP, I was originally planning staying on full time, but that never happened. I worked Fantasyland attractions. And although it was stressful and guests tended to be horribly rude when you moved your strollers, I would go back in a heartbeat. It was by far the best job I've ever had, and I made some of the best friends there. I'm currently living at home, in frigid CT, so I can save money and get back there ASAP. I've all applied to grad school at UCF so that I have a really good reason to go back to Orlando.

Wow. Christine Price is still running the show over the housing complexes. And to think that she comes off nice. But I had a run in with her, she can be harsh.
I remember when she did not own the management company and you could still go over her if you needed to.

The WDWCP is going to be the best time you have in college, if you treat it as such. I did the CP 3 times, before transitioning into a full time position with the company. Do it! Heck, ask around at school the alums if they got credit. My University did not accept the classes right away. I had to find a professor to sponsor me. It was well worth it.

Are you allowed to choose a roommate? I have a roommate at school who is thinking about doing it with me.

Also, it sounds like the downside is losing a semester of school, but don't they let you do it during the summer? How long are you down there for?

They have 2 different segments: the Spring and advanced Spring segments. The advanced Spring program means you work down there for the Spring and Summer (up to August) as opposed to the regular Spring program (up to May?).

You only have a say in your roommate if the two of you show up at the same time. Then you can request a room together (as long as you've previously requested the same things like wellness/non-wellness and the same number of rooms, etc.). I think it's fairly easy to get a room together, as long as you show up to sign in at the same time. My friend got to request a roommate on her second program. I didn't because I didn't know anyone else in advance (but it was funny because one of my roommates happened to be the campus rep who had been at my school. It was weird. I walked in and we were both like "I know you!").

You can only do summer if you're alumni. If you haven't completed a program, then summer only isn't an option. The program choices are: spring (Jan.-May), spring advantage (Jan.-Aug.), fall advantage (May/early June-early Jan.), and fall (Aug.-early Jan.). Once you've completed a program, you can return for summers all you want. You're considered a seasonal WDW employee after you successfully complete the program. In order to keep that status you have to work again within the year (it used to be at least one day, now I've heard that it's at least 40 hours within the year that you have to work).

Great advice! I never would have thought about that. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to return as seasonal. :(

I miss it terribly though. I saw one of my old managers last July and it was really sad when she asked me when I was coming back to work and I had to tell her that I wasn't. But, she also told me to call her if I ever wanted to come back and she'd help me try to get my seasonal status back.

I say go for it! The only suggestion I would make to you (and everyone else who applies) is that you get at least two years of school under your belt before you apply. I say that because a lot of kids go down to Orlando after one semester in school and get antsy when they return home. Disney can definitely throw your mind off of school. Kids who go down in their Junior/Senior years always tend to go back to school and finish because they've come so far. Just a suggestion...

I'm afraid to ask this, but what about seniors who are in their last semester, like me? I had a difficult major (computer science) and I couldn't afford to skip a semester, but from the rules I read I can still go to the College Program if I apply, interview, and get accepted while I am enrolled. Am I too old to where I might feel left out (21)? This is my only chance to get accepted. I sure hope I do. :(

You are no where near too old for the College Program! Actually, no one is too old as long as they're enrolled in college. I've heard of students having roommates in their 40's and 50's. I used to have a class with a 95 year old man- he could've applied for the CP if he wanted to.

I went to the CP for my second time the semester after I graduated and I was 22. I did feel a bit more experienced than my roommates, but that was because I'd been on the CP before and I knew all the basics of the program. My other roommate was 27 years old. Go for it! :)

In looking at your profile, you'd be better off trying for an internship with WDI- are you familiar with the ImagiNations program?

ImagiNations? No I haven't heard of that. That would be fantastic to get an internship with Walt Disney Imagineers (thats what WDI stands for right?) Do you have any information or something I could look at? That would be awesome! Thank you! :)

Starting this semster the WDW College program has joined forces with WDW Imagineering and the Disneyland College program. Not much info has been given out on the DL and WDI program, so I can't help you quite yet... but keep your eye on the new website www.disneycollegeprogram.com and there is a link for the Imagineering part.

Also, going during your first few years of college is ok.... I went during my 2nd semester and had a blast. Since then I have come back and been a Campus Rep and my school promoting the CP. For me, going that early just motovated me more to keep going with school, knowing down the road I can do another CP or even an Advance Internship.

Thank you for letting me know about that jimmybop, and thank you for the link mraw. That would be the perfect intership for me. I will continue to check that website frequently, but if you find any new information, please let me know! Thank you! :D
