I have a few questions about the International College Program. I'm considering applying for the 2013 program.
1. What is the average age of participants? This probably sounds like a stupid question but because I'll be finishing a four year degree at the end of this year and had a couple of gap years to travel I would be 24 when I start the program. I don't really want to be the 'pensioner' of the program.
2. How difficult is it to get into your preferred position? I want to work in the hotels but I've heard they're hard to get into. I'm finishing a Bachelor of Business in Hotel and Resort Management with Honours (ridiculously long degree title) and I have lots of experience in customer service and also working with children (which I guess is useful at Disney) but my actual hospitality experience is limited. If I was still midway through my degree it wouldn't be a problem but as a grad I couldn't really justify doing anything not related to the degree.
3. I know housing is separated into under 21 and over 21 but is there a risk of ending up in under 21 housing even at the age of 24. I've heard that in some cases they just don't have room in over 21. I live in campus housing now and don't have a problem but all my housemates are my age and I don't know if I could go back to living with 18 year olds.
4. Does anyone know how difficult transport would be for employees working in the hotels? I know there are buses available but are they very frequent? Or would I be better off buying a new car when I got there.
Thanks.
