College Program Questions...

I am going to be applying to participate in the Disney College Program in the spring, and I was wondering if any past CPers could share some experiences with me? What's it like? Did you take classes? If I get accepted, should I live in Disney housing or should I live off of it? (I would have a nearby place to stay with my grandparents.) ANY info you could share would be greatly appreciated!

I do not think that you can be on the "official" college program and not live in Disney housing. The Disney housing is all part of the experience anyhow, so I would totally recommend the Disney housing.

I loved my College Program. I was a Merchantainment Hostess at the World of Disney. It was a lot of hard work and late nights, but it was well worth it. I got to do my own magical moment everyday where I would take a boombox, some Hawaiin paraphanalia, Magical Moments certificates, and a box of trader pins...and teach children how to do a Hawaiin dance called the Hukilau. I made countless memories just in doing my magical moments, not to mention the friends I made and the time I got to spend in the parks.

I took Disney's Experiential Learning Course. It was much different from any course I've ever taken. In the course, we learned how to become lifelong learners like taking everyday experiences and converting them into knowledge. It was a really beneficial course!

I have done the CP 3 times, and am currently on my third. I think the CP is a great experience. I have had a blast on mine. So far I have done: merchandise (Fantasyland), character attendant, and custodial. For living I have stayed at Chatham all 3 times. I would recommend living on property, only because you would miss out on all the CP events held there. And for classes, I have taken the Hospitality Management class. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

I'm doing my second program in the spring! I cant wait! It is the most amazing thing you will ever do, you'll love it! I've lived in Chatham and Vista both, and I did merchandise at Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, and Fantasmic!! I would love to talk to you about the program sometime!
