College Program Apartments - Vista Way

Ok. Before I moved to WDW for my first college program, I was very curious about the apartments. I wanted to know how big they were, what they looked like, how big the closets were and all that, so I’d know how much to bring. and all that. So below, I am going to post some pictures of my apartment, so you all might be able to get an idea of what to expect if you are moving down there. This is the layout of a two bedroom vista way apartment. I don't have any Chatham square apartment pictures to show you, but the layout there would be very different. I'll also point out the difference between the apartment shown below, and a 3 bedroom one (vista way only has 2 and 3 bedroom apartments).

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/wdw/11-12_01.jpg">
This would be the living room area. The open door on the left side of the frame is the main (and only) entrance to the apartment. If you closed that door, right behind it (immediately to the left when you enter the apartment) is the door for bedroom one. There will be pictures of bedroom one below. Directly across for the door leading into bedroom one is the coat closet. I don’t have any pictures of it, but its not huge. Just a standard coat closet. On the right half of this picture you see the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen comes with a full size fridge, microwave, oven, dish washer, silver wear, glasses, mugs, bowls and plates, and maybe other things. I don’t know if they give you 6 chairs for the table in a 3 bedroom apt, but there are 4 chairs in my 2 bedroom one. So everything you see in this picture is consistent in a 3 bedroom apartment, except that the ceiling will be a lot lower, since 2 bedroom apts are on the 3rd (top) floor, and 3 bedroom apts are on the lower floors. This is all the "common space" for a two bedroom apartment. A 3 br apt will have a common hallway connecting bedrooms two and three to the living room, as well as bathroom two.

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/wdw/11-12_02.jpg">
Here is a view of the same room, from the apartment entrance, near the door for bedroom one. In the far right corner of the room, you can see the doorway for bedroom two. if this were a 3 br apt, that would just be a hallway leading to the other two bedrooms. just to the left of that door, on the other side of the thermostat is another door. This is just a utility room, which should remain locked. only security and maintenance go in there. Just a water heater and furnace and stuff like that. Nothing thrilling.

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/wdw/11-12_03.jpg">
View of the same area, from the kitchen. Here you can see how cool and impressive the double sinks and dishwasher are. ooooohhhhhhhhh. Also, on the right side, at the end of the counter, where the counter meets the wall, you can see a plastic hook on the wall. that is the designated area for hanging the mailbox key. Just around the corner from that on the wall (kitchen side) is where the phone is.

for a floor plan of a 3 bedroom apt, check out this site.
http://disneyalumni.com/info/living.asp

it shows a storage room between the two bathrooms, that would be the utility closet that i mentioned above.

and take that floor plan, and chop off bedroom three, give bedroom three's closet to bedroom two, and take away bedroom two's closet and you know have a two bedroom apt.

Ok, now we are going to take a look at bedroom one. The bedroom just inside the entrance, to the left.

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/wdw/11-12_bedroomone01.jpg">
Here is a view of bedroom one, looking in from the doorway. In the back on the left is the closet, to the right of that the vanity sink area, and to the right of that, the bathroom itself.

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/wdw/11-12_bedroomone02.jpg">
Now here is another view of the same bedroom, looking from the vanity sink area, towards the doorway. Here you can see the window leading outside (the apartment entrance door is right between the room's door and that window), and you can almost see the coat closet door directly across from the bedroom door. Also, you can see that in the vanity sink area, there is a little shelf for you to put stuff, built right in the wall. that is consistent in the bathroom two area.

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/wdw/11-12_bathroomone01.jpg">
Here is bathroom one. There is a sink and mirror setup just like the one on the left of the pic, in the bathroom itself. Same with bathroom two. So a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment will each a 4 sinks and 4 mirrors (one in and right out of each bathroom). Also, bathroom one will have a walk-in shower, while bathroom two will have a full bathtub /shower. There really isn’t a ton of room inside the bathrooms. there is barely enough room to get the door shut, once you are in there.

and now we will take a QUICK look at bedroom two.

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/wdw/11-12_bedroomtwo01.jpg">
Here is a view of bedroom two, looking towards the entrance door, bathroom, and closet. (note the brand new carpet and the brand new paint on the walls. I had a room mate set of the sprinklers in there and ruin everything. - get a renter's insurance policy).
btw - the ceilings aren’t high in the bedrooms. The height there should be the height of the ceiling of the living room in a 3 bedroom apt. The bathroom and closet here are the same as in bedroom one, just reversed.

<img src="http://www.punkrawkdan.com/punkrawkdancom/photosite/photos/cp_kids/brian_dan.jpg"?
and finally, here is a pic of the living room (before we moved out) not distorted by a fisheye lens, complete with two room mates (sold separately).

ok, so i took that image of a 3 bedroom vista apartment, and edited it a little bit to show what a 2 bedroom apartment is basically like.

One thing to keep in mind, they wont always have you enter on the left side, like that, if it is across the hall from that room, you enter from the right side. here is the layout of what a hall would look like.
