So once you are accepted over the interview, how are you put into an area of work at WDW?? Do you have any choice or preference or do they just assign you an area of work?

During the interview they discuss the different roles you picked on the checklist. When you receive your acceptance letter it tells you the role you're assigned to. It doesn't tell you your specific job but it tells you what type of work you can expect within your role. For me, I didn't pick merchandise but they still gave it to me anyways, I'm guessing because I've been working in retail for almost a year now and that's all the experience I have. I told the interviewer why I didn't pick merch. on my checklist, but I guess it didn't matter. In the end though, I'm just happy I got in and I don't really care what job I get.

Merch is a good role. It's relatively low-stress compared to attractions or foods, and you'll have the opportunity to pick up hours all over property.

You'll be assigned to a main location for the duration of your program. However, with merchandise training, you can pick up extra hours in nearly every gift shop on property (except for those in the non-American Adventure World Showcase pavilions). This is all done on "The Hub," the Disney intranet portal. I managed to work at least one shift in each theme park and Downtown Disney during my internship.

Do keep in mind, though, that extra hours are not always plentiful.

While you are assigned a main area in merchandise, you could also be "deployed" to another area. On my first CP, I did merchandise in Fantasyland. I was sent to Liberty Square and Adventureland for 1-2 week time periods each, two times each.

I'm in merchandise on main street. I love it! I was so upset when I got Magic Kingdom because of the hours but I love the people I work with and I've gotten use to the late nights. Just not use to getting off at midnight and having to be back at 9am like I did today. O well I may actually get to go to the park.

That's cool. I've heard a lot about the craziness of working at MK, but wouldn't getting to work for all the cool events make up for it? I think that would be so much fun working for MNSSHP or MVMCP, although, I'll be there in the spring so it wouldn't matter. :D

In my interview two different things came up, was I willing to work food & beverage (I said no) and my experience working in an amusement park (I worked as a ride operator for 2 years at Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh, PA).

I'm really hoping they offer me an attractions position. Otherwise merchandise would be fine.
