Coins in water rides and ride queue

Does Disney collect the coins from water rides like Small World and ride queues like Everest? I assume they do at some point or the amount would build up to much. What do they do with them? Donate them?

They are collected and donated to a charity. Some sites indicate that last year $20,000 was collected and given to help teens in foster care.

Its been written about in articles that in some areas because Disney doesnt collect the coins as regularly, a lot of the coins are deteriorated to the point that they no longer usable. If so, thats a lot of wasted money thrown away.
Over the years Ive tossed many a coin around Disney. My favorite routine is to toss coins into Cinderellas wishing well on the last day of our trip and make a wish for a return trip.

That's what I do, has come true every time I don't throw them in to rides though, can't do the ride vehicles or mechanisms much good.

I never really noticed the coins much on anything other than IASW. There are a ton of them around load/unload.

On our KTTK tour,we were told that Disney is the only company allowed to recycle U.S. Coins. This is because the coins are to deteriorated to go back into circulation.

Me too, there has got to be an insane amount of hair bands there, I also have always wondered how they get there and why?
