Just returning from Disney this week, I was wondering where does all the coins from the fountains and rides ( Its a Small World) go once they retrieve it. Thanks.:sohappy:

Into the Walt Disney Company's bottom line. Where else?

I believe they are given to Give Kids the World, which provides a place for children and their families come for 'Make a Wish'. They have trained staff to help care for kids illnesses, accessible playgrounds and pools for those confined to wheelchairs, and care services so mom and dad can get a break as well. Many Disney cast members volunteer there.

Throw your change into those ponds.

Close.

Actually, if you look at the fountain at the enterance to EPCOT, there is a small sign that says the money collected from the fountains goes to the
Disney Hand fund. They then send the money to various charities, and I would guess that GKTW gets at least some of it

I heard that very often by the time they get around to cleaning the coins out of most of the attractions (specifically Small World) they are too corroded to use, and the metal is discarded.

This would not be true of specific places (like the wishing well by the Castle) where there is a sign stating what happens to the money. But if you look in some of the water areas of WDW you can see lots of corroding metal, that's been there a looong time.

Some coins are adhered into various fountains and such for theming. So they stay year after year. Perhaps some of the corroded ones you've seen where afixed?

Indeed, the Walt Disney Company is very generous in their charity work. They don't have to do it, but nevertheless, they do.
