Coal Mine tracks are quieter then Space Mountain?

If any ride needs a total retracking, it's the Magic Kingdom's Space Mountain. The almost 40 year old track is really rough and is truly showing its age. And as far as I'm concerned, the addition of the trim breaks before the big drop just ruins the ride.

Yup.
At this point they may as well gut the building and install something totally different.
The ride experience has been so horribly compromised that I wouldn't be at all sad if they replaced everything with, say, a launched Gerstlauer Eurofighter.

if you put your hands up you can touch blue and red tunnel. On the ride path whenever you're close to the structure if you put your hands up you would touch a smooth piece of metal so your hands don't get caught. I'm sure if you do a YouTube search of lights on space mountain you can see it.

I worked at space mountain in the past and trim brakes were added end of last year so yes it does slow a tiny bit before the biggest drop.
You can put your hands up, no your fingers will not be chopped off. If you put your hands up, if you have long enough arms you can touch the tops of the red and blue tunnels. I have done this before and got shocked slightly, lol.

Want to see what the tracks look like. Here is a picture I was able to get in 2009 when they were doing some work. this was taken from the People Mover. There was a hole cut in the wall to allow large items to be moved into Space mountain.

As in surprised or as in electrically zapped?

I'm pretty short, (5' 4") so I think I'll be fine.
