CM Discounts?

A few years ago we were able to get substantial room discounts through a friend who was a chef at one of the resorts. He no longer works there however. At the time he explained to us that the level of discount was related to his number of years of service, his position, etc.
Do CM's today receive similar discounts, and how long do you have to work there to receive one?

my friend has been there less than a year and got us a great discount on rooms at poly (40% or something like that). She did everything on the wdw employee website so I have no idea what it takes to earn a discount.

I remember when I worked for the Disney Stores, twice a year you got a very nice discount on hotels.

Sadly, no longer. Since we're not part of the Company any more, we get very few Disney-related perks. About the extent of it is 3 one-day Park Hoppers per year.

Last couple times i have stayed on property through my friends discount I recieved I belive 50% off. I originally wanted another resort but the discounted rooms were sold out. I asked the CM and she said that Disney has so many rooms reserved at the really nice discount, then a nice discount, and then no discount. However, last I have stayed was over a year ago so things may have changed.

My friend who is a CM also recieves a discount on merchandise at park stores. The amount of your discount is related to your time in the company.

They also recieve a main gate (full time only i belive). This allows them to bring 3 people into the park so many times a year. For her, it is 24 times a year. I believe there are other passes with less restrictions depending on time and your postion in the company. The CM is also suppossed to stay with you the entire time at the park.

The discount is not based on how long a person works for the company but based on the person's job grade. The higher the grade, the larger the discount. As it stand now, a CM full time CM can get a discount of up to 50% off hotels rooms - based on availability. Also each full time CM, and their spouse, is issued a pass each year (Silver Pass) which gets themselves and three guests into the parks free with a one day park hopper pass. Both passes cannot be used on the same day. Also, CM receive a discount on merchandise and Disney owned restaurants. My spouse works for a Disney owned, sports related company in Bristol, CT and our current discount is 35%.

Yes, we can get discounts on hotel rooms. The thing is, we get our discounts, but we're not suppose to use them on others (example: using it to buy your friend a shirt) Its not how long you work there, but how much work.

You can get the discount if you buy the t-shirt for your friend, but your friend can't be buying the shirt and you tag along and get your discount on the friend's shirt. Merchandise discount goes up after three years of service.

You can get the hotel discount if you are staying in the room with your friends.
