Closing "secret" Speach

well i don't guess it's secret but, if you wait until an hour or so after park closes you'll hear a speech that you don't normally hear. I know most know about this but it is moving. Over the sound system in the park is read a speech from the opening day of the park. It is about Walt's dream. It is pretty moving and actually sad when you see where things are now compared to where he wants things.

I think that WDW in itself is Walt's dream but, I feel that alot of things the park is associated with today would sadden Walt.

Some of you may know what I'm talking about and most that are just the common Disney fan, may not.

I love WDW and long for the idea of having things JUST AS WALT DREAMED THEM. , even outside the park.

I found out about the "Goodnight Speech" during my CP time, and I too think it's very moving. The way the Castle changes colors and everything... If they ever get to install the fiberoptics for the new lighting system, it'll be even better.

This is definately a must-see, and well worth sticking around after closing time.

That closing speech as you call it is actually called the "Goodnight Kiss" where they put the castle to sleep. It is followed by "when You Wish Upon a Star" / "Zippidy Do Da" medley. (you have to listen for the ZDD part though) Just thought I would throw that in there.

I know that this is my first post, but I would like to say that I have seen and heard the closing speech many times. It does give a certain amount of goosebumps to me each and everytime I hear it. If you hang around for the E-ride nights, you will definately catch it heading down Main Street at the end of you evening.

I have been a disney fan since 1980 epcot wasnt even open yet and i was only 1 back then. I know what the old disney looked like and i loved it (it was and still is my favorite place on earth) Though i understand why they have had to change things, generations change and many dont like the same things we used to before, though i dont belive in taking out the classics i do belive in improving disney so that our children can enjoy as well as we did and so they can see it progress like we have. (from one theme park to four). I wonder how disney will change from here till i have children and grandchildren i just hope it continues to be the most magical place on earth. I LOVE DISNEY.

Ive made over 150(thats where i lost count) trips to disney and i am only 23.:)

I've never heard that speech, but would like to. I have to mention that everything I've read about Walt says that he was not one to repeat anything he had already done. He was always looking for new things and ideas. Who's to say now (35 years after his death) what Walt would have thought of WDW? I understand that his major goal was to make people happy and I, for one, find myself VERY happy whenever I'm there. I think Walt's basic idea (to make people happy) is still being carried out today. Sure, not everyone is satisfied with everything at WDW, but how do you please everyone?

I believe Walt looks down at "his dream" now with the same twinkle in his eye that he was famous for. You never know, had he lived to be 100, WDW may have turned out to be exactly as we now see it.

My opinion.

I wasn't aware of the "goodnight kiss" and the speech.. I will definitely make it a point to hang around after closing and hear it when I go for the Fourth of July. Thanks for the info! :)

I've always tried to stick around for the speech, but everyone I was with was always tired and wanted to leave before it was said... I'll have to go and hear it when I'm down there for my CP.

I have to side with goonsquad on this one ya'll. I have been going to WDW since I was 9 (now 24) and I must say that it is as magical now as it was then. I believe that that is what Walt wanted. To have children who are shocked and amazed by his parks who then grow into adults who are shocked and amazed by his parks, to then turn around and take their children who in turn the whole process will start over again. Kinda like a Walt Disney Circle of Life (pun not intended...well, maybe). :D

Well, well... Somethig that I have not only never done, but I have never heard of. That's rare and interesting. I'm going to have to do that next time I go.

You can stay pretty much an hour, sometimes a bit more, but only on Main Street. Security and Custodials will gently "herd" Guests out of the other lands.
