Closing Hours

Does anyone else think the Disney parks close too early for 2nd 2 weeks in october.
I understand that animal kingdom has to close early, but all the other parks are closed by 9.00pm this is way too early, if you have no transport the only place to go after 9.00pm is downtown and that can get pretty boring after a while :(

Well, if you are staying at one of the on property resorts, you can take advantage of evening extra magic hours, and not have to leave one of the parks until midnight.

that is true but ths unoffical guide to walt disney advises you to stay away on those days as the crowds are above average, we did stay in epcot on one such night and it was pretty busy :(

The Boardwalk, mini-golf, late-night movies at Ft Wilderness on saturdays, lounging at a resort pool, JellyRolls, Big River Grille and Brewery, see a movie at AMC, grab a drink at a pool bar, go to the Poly, get a drink at Tamu Tamu and find a hammock on the beach... there are PLENTY of things to do late-night when the parks close early!

I understand the point you're making and the frustration early park closures cause.

You must remember that park hours are based on park attendance / hotel booking figures. Disney must remain profitable and therefore will not extend the park hours (Overheads = Wages) when guest attendance doesn't warrant it

I'm a faithful Unofficial Guide reader, and take almost all of what they say as gospel, but.....

Evening EMH are generally only really crowded for the first hour or so. By that last hour, most everything is walkon, with the exception of the really popular rides, like Soarin'. When I am there for evening EMH, I tend to eat dinner the first part of it, then start visiting attractions.

Well, one night a week, (usually Friday) it is open until midnight. Not the entire park, but most of Futureworld remains open.

Even at the busiest times like Christmas, the park is only open until 9:30. July 4 Epcot stays open until 10, and New Year's Eve its open until 1 AM. Other than that, its always 7 PM Future World/ 9 PM World Showcase, even in the summer.

IMHO it is a trade off...low-season-low crowds-early closure....high-season-high crowds - late closure. I would rather have the early closure and less crowds, it's just my opinion. I don't mind early closures that much being up and out as early as possible; 9pm seems like a reasonable time to head back to the hotel.

EMH isn't that bad. Morning is best, but evenings are good after the first hour. I like to just hang out, people watch, and enjoy the night atmosphere of the park for an hour or so, then go hit some rides =)

Since we're discussing park closure hours, I find it really odd that Magic Kingdom is open until 11pm of Feb. 10th with EMH until 2AM! Not that I'm complaining, as by midnight I'm sure most of the lines will be walk-on, but wow thats late for early Feb!!

eh, both January and February were MUCH busier than anticipated last year.

I totally agree with you, which is why, except for this year, we go in October. With the smaller crowds, we get to experience everything we want. Besides, I like getting a reasonable amount of sleep :snore: so I am ready to hit it again the next day!!!:sohappy:
