Closing AE is just crazy!

Everyone I know loves AE the way it is. It's one of the really intense attractions around that doesn't shake you up and down. Why on Earth would they close it and put Stitch in there?! Ahh! It's madness I tell you. Madness. This is really setting up a bad precedent. I just hope Disney doesn't get the idea of adding their characters to other attractions that have no need for them in the first place.

What's next?.. Adding Captain Hook to the Pirates of the Caribbean??!!

Disney got tired of people ignoring the warnings & then complaining about how the attraction traumatized their children.

Yea, AE is cool, I have seen it well over 50 times, and I really dont care if I never see it again. The whole point of the attraction is a sensory thriller. I doubt they will put Stitch in there with non of that technology

I feel your pain buddy  I just watched some of my AE movies on the computer today and it about made me sick to know its almost gone. But Disney's made their decision and I can't do anything about it.

SNS you brought up the wonderful point that really is the reason for the change. "Disney got tired of people ignoring the warnings...". That pretty much sums it up. While not everyone on here likes AE most would have to admit that people that don't read the warnings and complain are the biggest reason for the change.

I'm sure they will use the same technology and maybe some of the same effects. But I highly doubt Stitch Escape will be much of a sensory THRILLER. They might surprise me but I really don't see them doing too many that would remotely startle the little ones that will be pouring in. I'm going to try to give the attraction a fair chance though. Disney could do a really good job with this. I'm sure it will be something, at least, the kids will really enjoy and that's great. But I still hate to lose my favorite attraction in the process.

I wonder if they will put the AE things in storage or are Skippy, Sir, & the alien going in a dumpster (like Horizons)?

Sad but true... :(

I really hate that everyone has to lose out just because some folks can't bother to read the warnings! :fork:

Whup Stitch!!

They'll prolly put it in storage. That or they'll put them up on the auction site they have.

Im willing to bet that they'll use his snot (The water they use to simulate the "blood" for the tech.) somehow for a surprise part when he's running around. Prolly keep the "breath on your neck" in there to simulate him sniffing you out and the likes.

Unless they're going to demolish the building and start from scratch, wouldn't they have to use some of the same effects?

Hopefully they'll put it in storage just long enough to where they can build a new building for it in MGM  (If you're going to dream, dream big)

And I'd say you're right about using those effects but I am pretty sure they will not be used to thrill or startle. They'll probably use some sort of sneezing effect too because that effect HAS NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE

This is one ride i went on once and NEVER went on again. The show just sucked, first of all those harnesses hurt, there is no reason to trap a person inthere seat, somne of the other effects are ok but definitly not disney quality, most other disney rides are unique, thrilling, wile still beaing "cute and fluffy". i think stitch will work perfectly here, Only if they remove those stupid harnesses. i was hopeing they would scrap AE all together and come up with something more unique and enjoyable for every member of the family. as for CP, i think the maintnance budget on that ride is getting bigger because the ride is getting older, that one i would miss if it were to go. as for Timekeeper, i think seats would have kept that show going for a longer periodof time.

Sorry but the "stupid" harnesses will DEFINATELY be in Stitch's Escape. The only way they would hurt is if you slouched down in your seat when they touched your shoulders and they you tried to sit up straight. Otherwise they should never be that close to you. The reason for them is to provide the binural sound that is so key to the attraction (and will be to Stitch Esacpe as well) and to provide the tounge on the head effect and hot breath. These "stupid" harnesses are the key to the attraction and without them the show would not be half as good.

If by some chance they decide to go without the harnesses for Stitch Escape (highly unlikely by the way) the attraction will be hugely panned and won't last very long, IMO.

A simple fix to scaring the kids would be to run the exact same show but with lowered light levels instead of total darkness, and by turning the sound down a bit.

With those two things done, Stitch can say something like "Now close your eyes and Lilo will blow in your ear"....or "Let me see how my new squirt gun works"....or "Look out, the lights might go out, but Lilo will be up here with her flashlight on for all of you"....followed by "Now my pet snake will lick your hair - but don't try to turn a round and see him, as he is very shy!"....whatever.....

I doubt any of the effects will be lost. Perhaps they will even remain in the exact same sequence as they are now. Only in stead of a dark room with an Alien flying around eating people, Stitch will be transported to sing Elvis songs and demonstrate his new magical space chairs to us.

One thing's for sure though: There will be a 3 minute crisis followed by an even longer happy resolution, before we exit to the sounds of Elvis music.

It has the potential to be a great NEW attraction.....but is it really going to be a great "REPLACEMENT"???

i think the stitch re-hab is a WONDERFUL thing. and what kid dosn't. the harness plain and simple HURT. if the go down when you slouch when you sit back up the should go back up but the don't . so if your the slightest bit clostraphobic it can be devistating. please disney take away the harnesses and i can give the new show a try. but if the harnesses still react like they do know, it wouldn't matter what the show is, i won't be rideing it. and most likely htere target audiance for the new attraction won't either. GO STITCH.

Please read my previous post. Maybe somebody else can explain it better to you but I think I did ok. Let me try something else here.

When the harnesses lower down they tell you to sit straight with your arms at your sides. Then after they touch your shoulders they raise automatically. At that point you can slouch down all you want to because the position is fixed. If you wanted to you can even shrug your shoulders up when they lower so they will be way up on top of you when you sit straight. You won't get the effects or the binural sound but they won't be ANYWHERE close to your shoulders. If you follow instructions they can't hurt because they shouldnt be touching your shoulders. The only other times they touch you is "when the alien is behind you and moves them up and down" :animwink: .

And I'm pretty sure you can bet the house that the harnesses WILL be in place for Stitch Escape. The reason is what I said in my earlier post. The attraction will be a flat out dud if they take out the harnesses and have no binural sound.

ok just a question-
are we TOTALLY sure that theyre getting rid of all the characters in AE? maybe it will all be the same (preshow, skippy, clench, the works) but instead of getting a cool scary alien, we get a boring stitch (lol no offense). i can only dream...

Sadly from everything I've read and heard that will not be the case. Rumor has it that S.I.R. will be changed into a policeman in an alien detainment center and other changes will ensue. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Here we go again...

Look, everyone could see it comming, the ride was in the wrong place and at the wrong time. People hated it at the MK. Sure, at MGM it could do well, and I hope it does go there, but face it, I'm not morning the loss of this ride one-ioda.

Hmmm....

An attraction set in the future located in Tomorrowland - what's wrong with that again?

I have to take a moment now...

Well this is just my mind starting up from coffee but heres what I think will happen.

Ok, we've heard that once its closed, the area might be turned into a detainment center. S.I.R would become an officer and stitch will obviously escape.

Well anyways.

What I think will happen is in the first room you enter (Saying they dont change the route or anything), you'll get a preshow from Jumba in his cell or something (Saying this takes place before the events in the movie) talking about Stitch and so forth.

Afterwards you enter the next room (S.I.R and skippy). S.I.R is the officer and in place of Skippy (I cant believe this is happening, SKIPPY!!! Uh anyways) is Stitch. S.I.R shows off Stitch in the tube and so on, Stitch gets ticked off and goes nuts. The alarms go off and the search begins for stitch after he gets away and is running rampant through the center (Hence the name Stitch's Escape), you enter the next room, where Stitch begins to screw around with you as he dodges the officers in the room

Thats just my thoughts.
