It just looks...tacky. Not birthday-cake tacky, but gold lame' "Golden Girls" banquet dresses from the 80's tacky. And not in a charmingly nostalgic way like the "Golden Girls", LOL.

 That totally cracked me up

Anyhoo. Tink is cute. Can't wait to see it all finished and in person.

AEfx, my mom said something to me about the castle. She asked me why I continue to take pictures of it since it hasn't changed. Now, of course I know it hasn't, but it's the fact that it symbolizes the MK and Disney as well. I HAVE to have a picture of the castle walking up MSUSA.

I can't wait to see this thing in person next month, I'm getting SOOO excited!

aaack why does tink look possessed??!?! wendy and peter too!
I imagine it's because of the fact they're at the highest point of the castle. Their features need to be well defined defined so that people have an idea of who they actually are. It sort of acts the same way stage makeup does.

just curious AEfx, have you seen it in person yet?

Nope, as I said, I've watched the pictures trickle in - I will be going to see it myself next month. That's why I haven't mentioned it yet, even though I've read the many threads about it.

I will reserve final judgement until I do see it in person, and I am open to being pleasantly surprised, but I still find it...tacky. Just the concept itself. I hope the execution isn't as bad as it seems from the photos (and I've stared at many of them for extended periods of time).

The beauty of the castle to me was the beautiful blue spires contrasting with the stark white base, simple and elegant. When I see pictures like in this thread, it looks like wrapping Christmas tree garland and putting tinsel on a Porche. Or a woman in a sleek, tan Vera Wang dress who wears hot pink plastic bangles and "jellies" shoes with it.

It's the same reason I dislike the "arm" at Epcot (which, unfortunately, I've seen many times in person) - architecture that not only is beautiful but culturally iconic deserves to be respected, not have toliet paper wrapped around it (as was done for Stitch).

I'm all for change, but in the case of the icons of the parks I just don't think they need it.

Just one fan's opinion.
