Clear Skies, Full Bellies...Can't Lose! A September 2012 Trip Report

Well…since it’s now been 1 month since I’ve been in Disney and I have received my Disney Photopass – I don’t have any more excuses to not start this trip report. So…let’s get this show on the road.

For those of you who don’t know me…I’m Jess.

Here’s my stats:

And traveling with me is my fiancé, Bill.

His stats:
Number of Trips - this is his 6th
Favorite Park – Magic Kingdom
Favorite Ride – The Haunted Mansion
Favorite Disney snack item – Red velvet cream cheese cupcake from Starring Rolls
Favorite Disney Character – Winnie the Pooh

This is our 5th trip together – once a year since we started dating. And on our last trip in May 2011…THIS happened…

P1020480.jpg

Well I guess it’s not really a surprise since I already called him my fiancé and wrote a whole trip report on it.Here’s the link if you want THAT whole story…

http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...s-and-a-proposal-may-2011-trip-report.796403/

But to cut to the chase: He proposed at night by the fountain in front of Spaceship Earth.

P1020479.jpg

I cried. It was absolutely perfect. And I’ve yet to read any other stories of people getting proposed to in front of SSE…which makes it even more magical. (And if you know of one – keep it to yourself. Hahaha!)

This trip was born not long after our trip in May. My fiancé is in med school and his school works with 11 months of rotations and 1 month off. Bill’s month off was September. So we decided to go then and too go for our longest trip ever (8 days!) and to bump up resort levels after staying at POP Century for 4 trips. So this trip we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter. We chose it for the intimate size of the resort, the fact that it had a sister resort we could utilize and neither of us had stayed there before. Spoiler alert – we absolutely fell in love with the resort ! But we also bumped up an extra day because - this will be OUR (notice – not MY) last trip until 2014. We have a wedding date set for October 12, 2013…and we are NOT doing a Disneymoon.

I know…we’re crazy. But we’ve been there together so many times already and plan to go so many times after the wedding that we wanted a honeymoon that is unique and special. Plus – my Disney trips are anything but relaxing. And I want a honeymoon that is basically – sleeping, drinking, eating, and…other stuff that I wouldn’t talk about on a family site but you get my drift. Pure relaxation. And at Disney – I’m sun up to sun down kinda girl. Plus I’m going with my mom and sister in March 2013 and probably for a few days in September before or after my WDWMAGIC GIRLS CRUISE! Check out all the info on this awesome cruise happening with some fantastic ladies of wdwmagic!

Ok. Enough with the explanations and shameless plugs for girl cruises (which again is September 8th – 12th 2013…plenty of girls still looking for roomies!) Let’s get on with the show!!!

September 11th, 2012

Work all day – blah. But at night…my sister, mom and I were going to see Jersey Boys in Pittsburgh. Every year on my sister and my birthdays…we buy each other tickets to see whatever musicals are playing in Pittsburgh. This year nothing great fell ON my birthday (October 15th) but Jersey Boys was playing mid September and I had never seen it.

330x235

I loved the show and was totally worth the 12:30AM bedtime that followed the show.

September 12th, 2012

Boy…2:45 AM comes really quickly when you pour yourself into bed at 12:30. We were up and moving (albeit quite slowly) finishing packing and such. Bill’s friend from med school came to pick us up and take us to the airport. We were flying out of the Pittsburgh airport but flying into the Latrobe airport because Latrobe is about 15 minutes from our house. But they had no outbound flights on this day. ANYWAY…we fly through security – grab a bagel & pumpkin spice latte to split and we’re on the plane at 6:05 AM. Touchdown in Orlando at 8:10am. Then I saw this and squealed like a school girl…

P1030043_zpsaf461bff.jpg

WOO HOO WE’RE HERE. Well almost. We head through DME and we were on a bus at 8:45 ready to head to our home for the next 8 days…

AWESOME trip report!

1. I totally LOVE Epcot so I completely enjoyed seeing all of the SSE pictures!
2. I about peed when I saw the horse peeing...freaking hilarious.
3. I almost died laughing when you were tipsy and turned all the lights on in the wedding pavilion. Sounds like something I would do. I'm very much a lightweight when it comes to the alcohol.
4. I like the matchy matchy shirts, it's cute. I also like that they match but not really...ya know? Cute! You two are adorbs.
5. I totally don't mind the whole cursing thing, I do the same when I'm excited/mad/upset/whatever. Sometimes the f-bomb just fits the situation. I'm trying to be better about it but it's kinda hard.

I went to WDW 11/6-11/14 and have been thinking about doing a trip report but I've been so busy here lately that I don't know if I can tie myself down long enough to do one. Plus, I'm still editing pictures. Yeah, I'm s l o w. Also, I looked like a fat rhino in most of the pictures soooo yeah if I do a trip report there won't be many pictures with me in them that's for sure. :)

Thanks so much for reading!!!

1. SSE is just my favorite thing to stare/gawk at in Disney. And now my romantic ties to it make me love it even more!
2. Yep...I can be super immature sometimes. I think what made it funnier was that I was just taking pics of the trolley and then saw all these people standing around it and I thought "What are they looking at?" Yep...peeing horses even draw crowds at Disney.
3. Not only am I a lightweight with booze - those Lapu Lapus pack a punch! Chugging them does not help matters.
4. Aw thanks so much for the comments on the kindamatching shirts. I like 'em. I know people talk about how dorky and cheesy it is...and well...then we're dorky and cheesy! We've been called worse. Haha!
5. The ol' F Bomb. Sometimes you need it. And I'm usually really excited at Disney and they tend to fall out. What can ya do?

You should totally do a TR! There's no judgement here. I just finished mine and my trip was...3 months ago. And I don't even edit my pics so I can't use that as an excuse. Writing the TR helps ease one's Disney blues. It's good for the soul, I tell ya!

Jess!!! I finally came back and finished your report!!!!!!

You did make me very sad though: You did not like my Citizens of Hollywood :( But thats okay I guess they aren't for everyone. I could spend all day there just watching them. They are the funniest.

And I will have to put Sannaa on my to try list in the future! Sounds very very yummy!!!!!!

I am also very sad to see your SSE photoshoots come to an end...but I do have two photoshoots for you!!!! Everytime I saw SSE I thought of you and your photoshoot (I'm really not kidding) I would be like I have to get a photoshoot in for Jess! :) But you'll have to wait..I haven't even started writing it..I am lacking, but I am also waiting for photopass pictures to come in and for my mom's pictures from her camera. But it will be there!!! :)

GIRLS CRUISE 2013 is just around the corner baby!!!

JESS!

Citizens of Hollywood weren't UNenjoyable...just that we were kind of rushing around that day to get stuff done. I need to take the time to relax and take in more at Disney but I'm so "go go go" when I'm there. Maybe I'll make a more solid effort to sit down and enjoy the whole performance!

Sanaa worried me for our first trip. It was Bill's pick and I am a picky eater so I was dreading this meal and now it's one of my favorites!

SSE. Be still my beating heart. You are so sweet for taking photoshoots for me! I feel the same way about you when I see the Tower..."I should take a pic for Jess!" And for Kenz too since she loves her some Tower. But of course I think SSE photoshoots are better...:D

GIRLS CRUISE! I actually just found out a girl I work with is getting married on the 7th here in Pittsburgh...I've yet to tell her that I won't be able to make it. I feel bad but like...this girls cruise is over a year in the making, lady. Should have checked with my Disney schedule before you plan an event. Haha!

Can't wait to read your TR! Don't feel bad. My trip was September. I started my TR in October and I think it took me until December to finish!

Yes please watch the whole thing!!! They are always so funny!!!! :) And I hear ya...its so hard not to be "go go go" when in Disney!!!!!

Hmmmm a trip to Sanaa might have to be in my future sometime.....

Yes me and Kenz love our tower!!!!!! :D

Oh no! Don't these people know to check your schedule!!!! Crazies. But I'm sure she'll understand at least it wasn't a family member!

I haven't even started writing it and here we are a month later!!! But if it's fair I'm waiting to get our Photopass CD in :) Hopefully people won't mind reading about Christmas in January/February!!!

September 13th continued...

So we headed back to the resort for a quick nap. We woke up and Bill was feeling hungry. I really wasn't but I did have something to check off my Disney checklist at Riverside so I suggested we go there. It's not a long walk and it's very pretty walking along the river. Not before long we were looking at Riverside...

Time to head in to the food court for something to eat. But first...a look at some of the selection

P1030309_zpsc4cf2cf9.jpg

P1030310_zps430a7c47.jpg

Why is it that when I'm home - I could make a whole box of brownies anytime I want but in Disney I'm like "Oh they have BROWNIES!!!" Crazy. But I passed on the brownies for these beauties (Bill got one too I'm not insane)

P1030313_zps1146b2c2.jpg

MAGIC COOKIE BAR.
Ok these things are disgustingly good. They are pretty much diabetes bars but they're so good! Chocolate, butterscotch, graham cracker, coconut and whatever else we have lying around in the sugar shack. I only ate about 1/2 of mine but we took it back to the room to much on throughout the week.

Alright real food. I really wasn't hungry but we had a bazillion counter service meals and I'm just not that hungry that often but since it's paid for...sure I can much on a few nuggets.

P1030312_zpsa8a2729a.jpg

Standard chicken nuggets. Good Heinz honey mustard dipping sauce though.

Bill got the Chipotle BBQ burger
P1030311_zps73c86b66.jpg

Look at that monster.

Bill said the burger was pretty good but just so much food. He didn't even touch his fries.

While surveying the area for a place to sit - I decided I wanted to sit right by the big wheel so I could get the full "Riverside Mill" effect.

Very cool!!
I've never had the Magic Cookie Bar, but I've seen so many people talking about how amazing they are! On my must try list next trip! Great trip report!

I started reading this report months ago.. and haven just realised: I never commented- which is totally terrible!

and now.. I have finally caught up and finished it!

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your report.. highlights include the wedding pavilion particularly lol

and the snow white thing- I completely agree!!

Enjoy your march trip xxx

I loved reading your trip report! I definitely added a couple of things to my "must do at disney" list after reading your report (I really have to make a breakfast reservation in the parks, I would love to be there early morning before the crowds really start to come!) The food pictures are making my mouth water! lol! Oh, and that's awesome that you were able to get into the wedding pavilion!

The magic cookie bar was scrumptious! And it kept well too in our fridge for the week as we nibbled on it each night. I highly recommend it! Thanks for reading!!

I know how easy it is to fall behind on TR commenting...I do it all the time! And then get my TR comments confused on who I wanted to tell what to - so I just end up not commenting at all.

I really do love the wedding pavilion...and hate Snow White.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for reading! Must do/eat lists are a MUST for any Disney trip. I'm currently making my must eat list for March (68 days!) and I have a lot of repeats on this trip. But it's my mom and sisters first trip in 5 years so I have so much Disney food to introduce them to!

The early morning breakfasts are wonderful for empty pictures. As you saw - at MK there will always be people on Main Street...but EPCOT? Glorious. I only had 1 other empty EPCOT morning and that was for a 7:45 am Segway tour. Both the Akershus breakfast and the tour were awesome!!

Thanks for reading!!
