You can't find anything like it from Disney ever since that era in the late 80s/early 90s. The slew of Audio-Animatronics, elaborate sets and the fact that it celebrates Alien and features shootouts, murder and smoking. It's always been one of my favorites and time has been kind to it. It's not like any of the movies featured are any less great than they were in '89. It also feels like one of those classic slow AA-populated EPCOT Center dark ride attractions (which it was originally going to be) we've had to witness be mostly extinguished.
However, GMR is terrible. It is a product that could shine, but the last 4-5 times I have ridden it this has not been the case. It is a great slow ride to get out of the heat, but not a main attraction and most definitely not the best attraction at WDW. It resembles a M Night Shamalyan (sp?) movie, it's very cool the first time you ride it. The actors are cheesy, but the story draws you in. Not a great reride like ToT, RRC, or ST 2.0.
