Classic Children's stories ???

Is there a book that has a whole bunch of the classic children's tales, by Runyard Kipling, Hans Christian Anderson, etc.?

Reason I ask this is that I had never heard of the Jungle Book, Steadfast Tin Solider and others as a child. Didn't know if there was a good compilation book out there.

Thanks :-)

I did a quick search on Amazon.com and found to my suprise that a lot of children's classics (collections & single books) are now out of print. I find this amazing as I worked in a fairly busy bookstore for a few years & we always had those in stock. I'll keep looking.

That's interesting, because I ordered books for my son's school's book fair a few years ago, and was able to find most of them. (I used Amazon as a reference, even though Borders supplied the books) The school has been fortunate to have an independent bookstore owner for the last two years, and she does a wonderful job getting them for us.

We also have a HUGE used book store (Chamblin's Bookmine...I think they have a website and ship items) that has an incredible inventory! Plus, I have most of the classics from my and my husband's childhood. ;)

The store I worked for is now out of business (very few independant stores left) or I would ask him. Schools seem to do better than the general public (at least here in NY).

Maybe a library would be a good place to start...find one you like, get the EXACT title, author and ISBN code and hit Amazon.com or a Barnes & Noble type store.

I went to www.bookcloseouts.com and found a whole slew of stuff, that I had forgot about, not I have to decide what to widdle my choices down to.

I've used bookcloseouts.com mutiple times in the past and it's a great deal. If you go to MouseSavers, they even had a discount code to save even more money.

Unfortunately, I didn't have many of these classic stories as a child, just the usual assortmnet of Curious George, etc. None of it was saved, I assume my parents sold them at garage sales over the years.

Glad you could find what you want. I'll have to check out the link. We rarely get rid of books here...have tons of them. When we do its usually to another family member or the library.
Fortunately my kids have inherited a love of reading and practice it daily. :sohappy:

We've been reading "Goodnight, Moon" to our son at bedtime since he was a year old. He now sometimes "reads" it back to us.

I know you live in FL, Kevin, but I must mention a place we had back up north that we visited frequently called New England Mobile Bookfair. They had any book you needed at incredible prices and gave teachers additional discounts also. I'm not 100% certain if it's a stand alone business entity or possibly associated with a chain/parent company.
