Claiming your spot for a Parade

Not trying to be rude. I have 7 year old. I know stuff happens. It's the fact you that you left stuff (and I would never leave a water bottle unattended on a sidewalk and come back for it, let alone putting stuff on the ground and leaving it so someone could trip over it) and the fact you went on rides and ate dinner and expected your spot to be there. Solution? If you want a spot two hours before a parade, man up and wait there like everyone else. I will have a great day. I'm a Sageteer.
I can't believe anyone would find this ok to do at one of the busiest places in the world :jawdrop:
The longest i have waited would have been an hour and a half and that included helping the family next to me keep their seating when the little ones needed a potty break

Not a man so i wont man up But I will mama up. I doubt people were tripping over it. It's the same as if someone was sitting there. And we did not drink our pop that we had left there anyway. I have no problem waiting for parades. Have done it for years but when it was just me an an 8 year old there's no way I would let her go off for a bathroom break while waiting. So just went and had a little fun. We figured if our stuff was gone when we came back oh well understandable. We did NOT expect it to be there just hoped it would be and it was so we lucked out!!!!

How would you have responded if you came back and people were in the spot? In my opinion if you are the type that wouldve been annoyed at those people youd be in the wrong. It's kind of rude to "hold" a spot and go about your day while others who are actually there and waiting could use that spot. Nobody is more important than anyone else. You didnt pay for the spot.

On the other hand if you are the type that wouldve just shrugged nnd thought "oh well it was worth a shot" then to me it was just that and you don't deserve any grief for it.

I know this much, if I was there and all the spots were taken and about 20 minutes went by and the person who had the audacity to "save" a spot with maps and aquafina and expect it to still be there would come back to find me and the kids where said clutter was left.

the reason I ask is: I have family at WDW this week. They posted on facebook that they set up camp 1.5 hrs before the MSEP. Longer than I would have waited for sure
We used to do that...stake out a perfect spot and wait. But it never failed that 5 minutes before it would begin someone would come along with a stroller and push it right up in front of us then work themselves over so we're no longer 'in front' or someone would come along behind us and tell their kids to go and stand in front of us (were already as far forward as one could go) and then CMs would tell them to move back and the kids expect US to move when they were the ones that invaded OUR spot. No... now we just walk along and stop, watch it and go on...

We are always late for parades.....But, it's ok it all works out. We are usually standing behind a bunch of folks, Holding kids and kids on shoulders so they can see. It is still increibly magical!!

It's your sort of attitude that would get a "let the little ones stand in front of me if they like" from me:D.If you aren't squeezing me out then i am usually willimg to spread the magic :joyfull:

1 hour on the curb in front of Casey's on Main Street. Was the day after the Super Bowl in 2009. I took off work so I could drive down to MK to see Drew Brees in the parade. (I only live two hours away from WDW & am a huge Saints fan.)

About 15 minutes before the parade was set to start a foreign family walked up in front of me and was standing in the street. I tried to tell them they couldn't be in the street, but they either didn't understand me or ignored me. CM's finally got them to move. I honestly don't think they knew that the parade they were lining up to see was just CM's dressed in cheerleader costumes, a few of characters in football themed costumes & a NFL player.

I already said if they were gone they were gone oh well we would watch the second parade less crowded anyway. No worries in the happiest place on earth right??!!??

An hour and 15 minutes early for the MSEP in October. We were right on the curb at the central hub. Got a front row spot for the parade and just spun around and watched Wishes with a completely unblocked view.

A couple in their early 20's tried that with us. We're sitting on the curb and the parade just starts and this couple runs up and sits down in the road right in front of us and a group on our right. They sit down and hold an iPad up to try and record the parade. We told them that we waited for these seats and they can't be in the road. They wanted to argue that they can sit there so the group to our right grabbed a CM who came over and told them they have to move.

We need time for things to happen.
Disney needs their names, ages and addresses.

Come on luv, get with the times, Disney has already sent me time release mickey nano chips contained within MM+pills.

My daughter has already ingested the MM+pills. When she eventually conceives my beautiful grandkids, Disney will know their names (not to mention likes, dislikes) before I do.

That's the Main Street Bioluminescence Parade right?

That's correct! Have you been chosen to participate as well???

I was very disappointed when I found out they will be running "Super Dreams Extremely Limited Time Magical Things of Yesteryear Part 3" promotion that year and we're missing a week's worth of ancient parades. MSEP and Spectromagic which will be running the week after we leave.

Last year dd and I went without dh in December. We went to the Christmas party and we laid down maps and soda bottles we collected during the day prob 2 hrs before parade time, left went on rides ate supper and came back and our spots were still there!!! Yay for us!!!

Yeah we tried that. Left a bunch of trash on the curb, then went back to our hotel where that morning we had reserved our longue chairs for the day with our towels so we could relax. It's a good thing that not everyone is as smart as we are!
