Cirque du Soleil sold to US and Chinese investors

Oh dear. This is the consequence of Cirque making a lot of bad buisness moves for the past 7 years. I hope this doesn't affect the brand too much or causes a La Nouba replacement.

I still say Disney should have bought Cirque. I think they're a great match.

I am trying to wrap my head about exactly what Cirque du Soleil, as a company,is.

From what I gather Cirque is essentially the name, Cirque du Soleil, and a group of performers, show designers, etc that get contracted out to perform shows bearing the name Cirque du Soleil.

If that is correct, and the sale impacted La Nouba in a negative way, couldn't Disney form their own troupe under a different name?

Cirque du Disney?
They already have a name they can use and obligatory character-tie-in, Jerk de Soleil (a season 1 episode name):

Sadly, if Disney were to come up with their own show this is pretty much exactly what I would expect. Let's hope that Cirque can keep afloat so it doesn't come down to that!

This has nothing to do with issues. Yeesh. Cirque Du Soleil is one of the best touring companies around, generating millions upon millions of dollars a year. The own in Montreal Canada decided they wanted to sell, and they did. Sadly Canada loses one of it's most amazing success stories.

Its a performing arts company based around the circus arts (acrobatics/clowning) that are avant garde in style. All the shows are completely original with some that tour in circus tens/arenas while others are pemanent shows in Vegas or like La Nouba in WDW.

As someone suggested in another thread, turning it into a disney on broadway type theater would be perfect.

As much as I liked La Nouba, seeing it once was all I needed. If they rotated various plays then I'd go more frequently.
