Is it true that the message of this film is that building resorts is bad for the environment? That's what one of the reader comments in The Unofficial Guide says. LOL.

I haven't seen it in a while, but from what I remember it's about how humans are destroying the earth with several different things, but in the end they try and make it okay by telling us we are improving our methods. I don't remember anything specifically about resorts, but that's very hypocritical is they say that. :p

Like the Movie it's recycled by using footage from Symbiosis and Timon, Pumbaa Riff while Simba tells them the story...And Probably the Best line in any Disney attraction..

Pumbaa: Dam!
Timon: Hey! Watch Your Language Pumbaa

I don't remember resorts, specifically, but haven't watched the film in years. I do remember thinking about how hypocritical it was for Disney to run this in WDW.

The beginning of the film is beautiful. It is worth sitting through the rest of it (which is an environmental lecture for children) just to see the first part.

There are two things that strike me as ironically hypocritical in this film. First, Timon wants to build a resort at the expense of the environment, then later changes his plans to an ecologically friendly resort. I don't know how WDW fits within this ideal, but perhaps they consider concrete to be an environmental benefit as it helps to reduce the use of wood on all of those environmentally enhancing buildings. The second thing involves the scene where the girl on the bicycle is overcome by the smoke and dust from a passing truck. I once saw a tourist riding a bicycle being engulfed by the exhaust smoke from a Disney bus. I shouldn't have, but I laughed a little inside as I thought of the scene in the film.

No biggie, I guess. I know that Disney does try to do some things with the environment in mind.

I saw the show back in 2000 and yes... It pushed how bad human beings and what we build are for earth. Kind of funny since your sitting in one of those human made buildings, watching a film made my human beings, using evil electricity made by human beings, sitting in evil plastic seats made by human beings... You get the gist. I saw it once and very quickly decided it was a huge waste of time. It is for those human beings that "feel" an do not "think". They "feel" that having human being made stuff is evil and bad, even though they cannot live without it.

OOPS!! forgot to mention. This is while sitting in evil A/C that keeps the evil human beings comfortable. And they either flew on an evil aircraft, or rode in an evil automobile to get to WDW, while they left their property in their evil homes, that they did not shut the heat or a/c off in, and did not unplug all of their electrical devices that they are not using. See human beings are evil, and you being a human being should feel bad and ashamed for existing and being comfortable.

Love the line about how ALL animals are important to the environment... Can someone explain what a mosquito does that is a benefit?

One Little Spark...
Premiered in 95. so about 3 years sooner.
Ah...but well into when they knew it was coming.

The only reason I say it is because the silly over the top message seems to carry over at Animal Kingdom to me as well.

One thing I've been happy to see is that they've started to dial that down and focus more on the amazing experiences and sights, not shoving conservationism down your throat every chance they can get.

Yeah I know what you mean. I haven't even been to AK but the amount of NOT A ZOO, CONSERVATION, down your throat can choke you. I think the new Wilderness Explorer thing is cute though, it blends so nicely.

By the way - finish your trip report!!!!
Hah, will do! Keep an eye out over the next few days.
