Actually that is not it, from what I can tell...

Cinderella Castle was modeled after a castle in Germany the name of it has Swan in it, I wish I knew the real name. Anyway it is a beautiful castle and it has over 100 different images / representations of swans in it and since this castle influenced Cinderella's castle it is speculated that these hidden swans inspired the hidden mickeys...

Yeah I remember something like that....it wasn't Neuschwanstein, was it? If not it closely resembles it.
I'm not so sure that castle is Cinderellas on the poster.

Well in my mind Disneyland's castle looks nothing like the Swan castle, that Neu name might be right but I am blonde and a little drunk so typing that name ain't gonna happen. It's been said that the swan castle inspired Disneyland's castle, but it could have also inspired Cinderella's as well even without them knowing since it was the inspiration for a previous castle, savvy?

Actually, Neuschwanstien was the basis for Disneylsnd's castle. WDW's is a combination of several 1200's-1600's styles.

Ok thanks. I knew I'd heard it somewhere :)

neuschwanstein - Crazy King Ludwig's Castle. He had a grotto built below the castle where he had a very elaborate swan boat. I think that is where the swan comes in. In any case he spent gobs of money and his subjects eventually revolted. But a nice castle.

Both catles are based on it. California's is probably more acurate but way off in scale, where as Florida's is more to scale but has some deviations (something like a flipped roof). Look it up on the web - it has to be one of the best looking fariy-tale castles in the world.

It sure looks like it, but I doubt it will be in the movie. From the trailer I saw, it is set way back in the times of Old America.

Ok, Neuschwanstein is the correct name for King Ludwig's castle in Schwangau. He built, I think, 6 castles total. Only one was ever totally completed. Anyway Neuschwanstein was built right next to his parents castle, well on a small mountain next to theirs. This castle is in the foothills of the Alps in southern Germany. Cinderella's castle is based on it as well as a few others from that time period. It was rumored that the King was having "male visitors" and his people were not happy with that. He was drowned in a lake called Starnberger.
Anyway, I have pictures of the castles that I took in 2000, if someone could tell me how to post them up here then you could compare them.

definitly not an exact copy but you can see the arcitectuial similarities. from the ornate pillers, and cathidral cealings, to the overall color scheme and room shapes. it definitly was an insperation to the disney castles, though again not duplicates. neuschwanstein is definitly a fairy tale castle come to real life.

I hear the early reviews for this movie are just awful.
Too bad, I'm a big fan of both (Verne & Disney).
I was really looking forward to this movie.

I wouldn't be surpirsed if they go to the castle with the long name, many people will see it as the 'disney' castle, and it is a nice plug for disney. and mr.nonochos, and grand math, excellent investigative job.
