We will be getting to Disney the day before Easter. Does anyone know of a Catholic Church on Disney's property, or near there?

Here's info for services of various faiths from AllEars:

http://allears.net/btp/church.htm

The current info at the top has special info for Catholic and Protestant servies at the Contemporary for Christmas. Not sure if they do Easter as well.
Might be worth giving the Contemporary a call... Call the Main Switchboard and ask to be transferred to the Contemporary front desk 407-824-2222. (Actually, you could try asking the switchboard operator first. They have access to a wealth of info, and might be able to tell you)

On our first few trips, we stayed at the Super 8 motel on Vine St (aka 192, aka Irlo Bronson Expressway), and we went to church just a block or so over, at the Good Sheperd Free Methodist Church. I was kind of thinking I remember seeing a Catholic Church in the general viscinity as well. I don't know which would be closer between that one and Queen Mary, though.

although i have never been to it, Our Lady of the Universe is very worth while. while we were visiting this past december, our friends stopped there and really enjoyed themselves.

they said everyone was very friendly. hope it helps some!

They don't do this anymore, but I remember back in the day, when we used to go down on Palm Sunday, they had mass in the Polynesian's Luau Cove. That was very strange- attending a Catholic mass with tiki torches all around you.

I remember those days -- late 1970s and early 1980s. Attended, I believe, two services with my mom and sisters in luau cove, on two different trips while my dad attended "convention meetings."

Thanks for all your replies. Does anyone know if we can use Disney transportation (buses, monorail, etc.) to get to any of these locations? We are flying in and won't have a car.

I just called the Contemporary(probably misspelled) Hotel and they said they have always had a Sat. & Sun. Mass for Easter. We would most likely go to the Sat. Mass. They said that they don't have the info for it yet and to call around April 1st. If anyone hears any news on this, please post it here.

That would be Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, off 192 and N. Thacker, but Mary, Queen of the Universe is a lot closer to Disney property.

When I phoned the Poly, where Masses used to be held in the Luau Cove every Sunday, I was told that there are Masses at the Contemporary for both Christmas and Easter only.

to quote davinci's notebook:

"all religions may be practiced there except for southern baptists, when we reach that magic kingdom in the sky."
