Christmas Wishes Polar Express music? How is that possible?

They paid for the rights to use the songs back in 2005.

Upon reflection, Polar Express is arguably more "Disney" than stuff the company later added to WDW like Marvel and Avatar.
I thought it could also be the ownership since Disney bought Imagemovers and while Polar Express was released by WB prior to the buyout they had an agreement for music right usage.

"Spirit of the Season" was also written and composed by Alan Silvestri. He has a long history with the Disney Corporation dating back to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and also did movies such as Lilo & Stitch, The Avengers, and most recently I believe he scored almost (if not all) of the area music for Avengers Campus.

Not the first time they have licensed music from other sources.

The 15th Anniversary theme for Disneyland Paris was a piece of music from that 2003 live action Peter Pan movie, which was a Universal Studios release.

I believe you can, or used to be able to, hear the Harry Potter theme tune on the Hollywood Studios buses also.

This was.also.used stateside.

As was Back to The Future when Harry Anderson talked about the eventual false promises of Disneyland in the DL 35th anniversary special

Guests listening to holiday music dont think about or care about where the music comes from or who composed it or its connection to anything Disney. They are entertained and put in the spirit of Christmas. Some things can be enjoyed and not scrutinized down to the smallest nth. Disney is paying for the usage and thats all thats required.

Doesn't the entrance BGM loop for Hollywood Studios have some songs from non-Disney movies in it?

I distinctly remember hearing the John Williams Superman theme from the Christopher Reeves films playing out in front of the park. However, the music loop changed in either 2018 or 2019 I believe. Currently, it's just a bunch of swing versions of songs from animated Disney films. Definitely changed the vibe for the worse. On Hollywood and Sunset Blvd though, they still do play licensed jazz from the 30s and 40s though, so at least that's still intact.

No knocking it, Polar Express soundtrack is very comparable to Wishes and both wishes and that movie have a very similar feel to it.

It doesn’t have to be. Disney just buys the rights to use the music.

That’s why if you go to the Land Pavilion, you’ll hear the themes from The Ghost and the Darkness (Paramount), Hook (Universal), and My Dog Skip (Warner Bros).
In Soarin's queue you can hear An American Tail's theme (Universal)

Most of the park background music is licensed from third parties as well. You can find a lot of it on Spotify by "normal" artists on their "normal" albums.

Disney does this all the time. In fact, they recently lost the rights to use an old song they’d purchased from a kindly sharecropper just after the civil war.

Aye. Last year at Big Thunder Mountain, I’m fairly certain I heard an instrumental version of Marty Robbins’ ‘Big Iron’ in the queue.

Not seeing it on any track listing though….Mandela effect?
