Christmas Trip

Alright so we're beginning to plan a Holiday 2013 trip, we've never been to the World over the holidays and figured this would be a good year to cross it off the bucket list. We're looking at going: 12-26 to 1-1-14. And due to taking a few extra family members it is probably not going to be cost efficient to stay at our normal resort (POFQ)...does anyone have any opinions on Art of Animation suites?

Thanks! We're also considering being down there over Thanksgiving week instead, I have heard the Christmas decor goes up at the beginning of November? Anyone know?
Yes, last year we went from 11/4 - 11/14 and attended the first MVMCP on it's first night of the year and also got to see the Osbourne lights at DHS as well as other decor around the parks. However, the Epcot Christmas stuff doesn't seem to start until the end of November. Probably because the Food And Wine festival goes until nearly mid November if I had to guess.

Perfect!! Thanks for the info! So hopefully since it will be late November everything will be up! We're also looking at Family suites at All Star Music...we have never really stayed at The All-Stars...but the suites look spacious!

We stayed in the Cars Section the first week of April. We really enjoyed staying in there. The rooms are nice size. We loved having two bathrooms. I wouldn't put two adults on the pull-out sofa or the murphy bed, but they are both fine for two kids or teens. It really is a magical resort. Saying that, if we only need two beds and one bath, we will be back at PORS because of price, and the beds are much more comfortable.

Slightly off topic, but when you stayed did you happen to notice if they've replaced Sally's Porche emblem on her hood? Someone stole it during the course of my trip in August, and they hadn't replaced it by the end of my trip...

I didn't. But I took pictures. I'll check them and see.

Correct. The only things different in the parks would be the tree in the MK and the Christmas Partys will be over, and the party parade is during the day (which I loved by the way). We have been to WDW 3 of the last 4 Thanksgivings and we love it during that time. If I were going this year after having done both Thanksgiving and Christmas this past year, Id recommend Christmas. There is nothing like Christmas morning in WDW!!!

Grrrr....see, this is why we can't have nice things! It was there on our first walkthrough the second week of August (I was at Pop), but somewhere between then and a few days later, someone had pried it off...you could even still see the marks in the paint from the adhesive.

So annoying.

Thanks for checking!
They also had one of the cars right at the front under a tarp.

One thing to keep in mind is getting ADR's for Thanksgiving Day if you want to eat turkey that day. We went two years ago over Thanksgiving and wanted to eat at Liberty Tree on Thanksgiving Day, it was booked solid 180 days out. We ended up eating at Whispering Canyon and it was great, all the Christmas decorations were up at Wilderness Lodge, so we took several photos before and after the meal. A nice thing was that we were able to ride the boat back and forth from the MK.

Not surprising, as I saw kids (and adults) climbing all over them when I was there. It is such a wonderfully themed area though, I just was shocked (well, no I wasn't) at the amount of wear and tear it got in the 10 days I flitted in and out of it (nearly right after it opened).

I just hope that this wear and tear doesn't mean that Disney management decides on lower budget, easier to maintain (e.g. less detailed) options for it. Hence my statement that "this is why we can't have nice things".

I have pictures on my old laptop that I'm going to go through when I have a chance to see what is missing.
We were there the week they opened the Mermaid rooms in September and took pictures. I'm curious now.
My daughter said that the tarp was off one night. So, at least they are working on that one.
