Christmas Trees and Gingerbread Houses

I'm going to parks in December :xmas: and was wondering if any knows the approximate cost to order a christmas tree for your hotel room from Disney Florist or how much the Gingerbread Houses are over at the Grand Floridian?

Trying to figure out what my budget can handle!

The trees from the Disney Florist were roughly $400 this past year. We looked into but did not purchase one. We bought a small, pre-lit artificial one at home and had it shipped UPS to our resort. Much, much cheaper that way. :xmas: Not sure about the cost of the Ginderbread houses. The day we were at the GF for dinner the line was way too long.

Oh wow. Um, I can't find my link to the Disney Florist. You can call them. I have the number handy (just called a little bit ago for other business). (407) 827-5099. Call and ask. I think you gotta grab those trees early because they only sell so many...I think. Not sure. Best to make sure if you really want one.

My aunt got a gingerbread house this past season. I'm sure she said she paid $60 for it. I don't know if it was the smallest but it sure was gorgeous. On Christmas Day she brought it over to my Gramma's house and everyone had fun taking it apart and munching. They took lots of pics. It was really a fun time for all.

The trees run in the hundreds of dollars if you order them from the WDW Florist. Even if you shipped a small tree down and bought all Disney ornaments you would still save money.

Sorry, I can't help you with the gingerbread house question.

We took our own minature tree and put it on the table in the room. If you are driving down from Atlanta that would be easy to do.
Be sure to also take a 6-8' extension cord to reach the wall plug.

You can also get some Christmas decorations that stick on the window and take them with you.

The small ginger bread houses that they sell in the Big ginger bread house at the Grand Floridian used to be $25, but that was several years ago. Maybe allow $50. Most people just take pictures of the big ginger bread house.

Good luck.

I think they're in the $30 range now.

I agree, which is why we bought the $30 pre-lit one at Target and sent it down there! Packed some favorite ornaments, bought a couple in the parks, and were were good to go! :xmas:

We were at CSR this past December. We also bought a pre lit tree at Target. It was a pink tree with Disney Princess ornaments. We just checked it with our luggage. I also bought lights for our window and window decorations. I wanted to get the tree from Disney Florist, but I couldn't justify the price

The best thing to do is Wal-Mart prelit trees, think we got 3 1/2 footer for $15.00, plus like $1.99 for 12 plastic ornaments, UPS shipping to the resort was $10.00 plus we put snacks and pops, stuff like that in the box as well was WAY cheaper then Disney Florists, Plus you can send down extra lights and an extension cord for your window stuff....our kids loved it coming "home" from the parks to a decorated room was great and MouseKeepinig even done some extra decorating for us using the kids stuffed animals they were great!

We drove down from Cincy with a 8 foot frasier on top of the Escape for our stay over Thanksgiving last year. $45 at Lowes. We then left it in our room when we left with a note for Mousekeeping saying that it was our Christmas gift to them. . .

Take a tree but remember at least a 9ft extension cord. 15ft is a little long but you are sure to have enough at whatever resort your at. Take one of those brass looking over the door wreath hangers and a wreath for the door. Ive also seen lights suction cuped to the inside of the windows, lights on the balconys at GF(white lights of course), at the Swan...or was it the Dolphin....anyhow and even some of the old fashion C-9 bulbs on a balcony at the Contempory one year. They could be seen from all over the MK. Ive also heard that the campers at FW really go all out too. The first year we went for christmas I had heard that people decorate but I had no idea to the extent that some do. We drive so space is not a problem. I have a good size plastic craftsman tool box that I carry all the tree and room decorations down in which keeps anything from geting broke. Its in the attic right now labeled Disney World Christmas Decorations waiting to go to Florida again someday.

Oh tea...one last thing. If you love eggnog at Christmas take it with you. I called Fultons General Store prior our first Christmas trip to see if they sold eggnog. You whold have thought I was asking for water from the moon. The guy acted like he had never heard of the stuff and then transfered me to someone else who hadnt heard of it either. Sure enough when we arrived I looked but couldnt find if anywhere on property. Sure glad I imported some from Marvia Maid here in Virginia.
