Does anyone have a clue on when the Taping for this years parade is to be??
I know it's early, but going on a cruise that is stopping in Port Canaveral for the day on Dec 9th, 2015
and wanted to book an excursion to the magic kingdom that day.
Now I am worried if taping is to be done that day, I don't want to be there then.
Have been to Disney several times, so I know my way around the park, just don't want to deal with that, have been there before on those day and are very crowded. Glad I had park Hopper because we did use it, we left Magic Kingdom and went to the other parks.

I haven't heard yet, but am interested in following along.
Last year it moved from the weekend to midweek. I think it was Tuesday/Wednesday. So if it stays the same, that might just be one of the days they're filming.

Historically they tape the first weekend in December. 2014 however, they filmed the Monday/Tuesday after the first weekend. So it was 12/8 and 12/9. We try to avoid those weekends but have hit it in the past. The 2013 filming was 12/7 and 12/8/2013. We got into town that day and totally forgot and showed up at MK and it was a zoo to say the least.

It is neat to do one time, but after you see them bring the same float/balloon by 34 times, you are ready for something new.

I would assume filing would be somewhere between 12/5/2015 and 12/8/2015. That also means the MK tree won't be installed till about the 10th or 11th. They have to allow a few extra days before installing it in case of weather during taping of the parade.

Last year was all messed up by Frozen and it wasn't a parade. It was the Frozen Christmas Spectacular. There were no floats going down Main Street or near the hub due to to the construction. Just some shows in front of the castle and a couple of things in Frontierland. It Will be interesting to see if they return to a true parade this year.

In any event, I wouldn't use last year as this years predictor of events.

I agree. I'm hoping it switches back again this year. However, I do like that it moved to weekday taping instead of weekend. Every year, I feel terrible for those families who are on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and don't get that grand welcome into the park, or the first great glance at the castle! I'm sure that is going to happen to some people no matter what day of the week it is, but keeping it away from the weekend probably minimizes it.

We often travel that week, and I've watched/witnessed the parade taping many times over the years. It's interesting at first, but quickly grows old!

I really hope they return to the actual parade. Frozen overlay aside, I was really disappointed by the format this year...especially since it followed the amazing opening number with NPH of the previous year. They need to put the hosts back at their little table on Main Street, cover the cool attractions available at the parks, and visit the hotels as well. A bunch of musical numbers doesn't really get people excited to visit the parks.

But on topic, yes taping usually happens the first week/weekend of December. I kinda wish they'd bring it back live again. I always thought those were better than the taped versions. ;)

We were there in November and the parade taped that week, it was early this year. But the dance competition will be held 12/5-12/11 and that is a busy week. We have been there for that.
