Christmas Day at The World

well, the parades and shows are mobbed at MK. I would not go there on xmas. go to epcot or studios. not as crazy, if you are staying for new years eve, it is even MORE crowded at MK. people were sitting on the side walks at 7pm for the midnight fireworks! mental, you could not walk at all anywhere near the hub on main street after 9 pm., people were actually stepping on other people to get by, andf wheel chairs had no choice but to run over feet and hands. not trying to be a downer, just be prepared, cuz we were not and it was tramatizing:brick:

MK is crazy, stupid crowded. Sure it's nice being there on Christmas but what's the fun in standing nose to nose all day with strangers?
Stay at the Hotel and spend it with the family.:xmas:

We arrived at WDW on Christmas Day last year - having checked in and freshened up we went to EPCOT for our evening meal. We arrived at the park around 6:30pm, had no problem getting in and found the park to be busy - but not as busy as we anticipated

lol! Anyone know how HORRID the waits are? My fiance and I will have our son with us, who is 2 months old. I know, I VOWED never to bring a child that was not able to walk BUUUTTT it is xmas and I am not spending it without him. So I guess I will also try talking her into Epcot ooorrrr HWS.
Anyone been on NYE? Maybe the crowds are similar to that night? I went on NYE a few years ago.

If you are going to MK and staying on Disney, be at the MK when it opens and leave around noon or a little before. We were there the last 2 years on Christmas day for 6:40 a.m. waiting for it to open at 7 a.m. Of course, last year it rained so it was empty and enjoyable for along time.

We left Dec. 29th and I've never seen ques to get on the monorail before. It was something to see. I was glad we were leaving at that time.

Did Christmas Day there a few years ago and will NEVER go into Magic Kingdom again on CHristmas or New Years -- the other parks are much better that day, but all are crowded.

MK has frequently seen entrance turnstiles shut down while waiting for people to leave before letting others in.

As to lines - they are ridiculous long -- but those two holidays are not about the lines for rides -- it's about getting the best viewing positions for the parades and fireworks, and it is absolutely wall to wall people...but the lines are ridiculous long -- we're talking about twenty minutes for things like the People Mover, two hours for the Haunted Mansion and Pirates, three hours for Space Mountain...If you are not inside the park at opening and using 100% strategy for getting onto the rides, you might as well sit down with the others waiting for the fireworks and relax.

My own advise -- stay as far away from the MK on Christmas Day as you can.

Magic Kingdom WILL close due to capacity at some point on Christmas AND New Years Eve.

You WILL have secure a spot at least one hour before any parade or fireworks if not earlier than that.

You WILL have to wait in line for:
-rides
-shows
-food
-restrooms
-water fountains

EVERYONE will get on your nerves.

If you have a stroller or wheelchair...good luck.

But hey, you'll be there on Christmas. Not like you wanted to actually do or see anything else, right?

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like she has already paid for the tickets and we are a go... I did change the park to HWS though. I am going to just be with the family, I know rides are prob. out of the question...Oh well...:lookaroun

DHS won't be that bad -- yes, you will have waits for rides, but follow the typical recommended touring plan and you will still get everything in. MK is the problem park, followed by Epcot.

Have tried every park at some stage on Christmas day and MK was the busiest and I mean crazy! The Animal Kingdom was the least busy but still a huge crowd. Hope you enjoy your trip.

This was part of the reason we decided to fly out Christmas day. Able to enjoy the holiday festivities without dealing with the Christmas day crowd.
